We begin as they explore more of it as Sheila’s Find Traps and Xilicien’s Detect Magic spells are working with 11 minutes left to each spell’s duration.   With Sheila and Xilicien in the lead so their spells can do their things the party moves south then turn north then east then south east, then east. In the middle and at the end of the east passage, Sheila’s Find Traps spell glows, indicating more possible Zap! Traps. So they turn into the passage that goes north at the middle intersection.   The passage turns north west for about 10 feet before going straight north some more then turning east then south. Which continued south east for 10 feet then south again, which then turned east the north, then south, when Sheila’s Find Trap spell again glows in front of a passage going west.   The party continues south then turn east then north, then turn east then south. Then east then north then east then south again. Which then turns west, then south, then east.   The passage turns north at it’s end with a door 20 feet away of which the party approaches and Balen attemps to listen for anything beyond the door, he rolls an 83% when needing ≤ 25%, so he did not hear anything.   When Balen opens the unlocked door, this is what is seen:   In the center of the rectangular room is the six-foot-tall head of a man, the same man as that portrayed by the gold bust from Room 1: hooked nose, short hair, and so forth. It appears fleshy, alive, and very real, as if a giant were imprisoned below the floor. The head's eyes are open, staring at the door through which you have entered.   There are 5 other doors that lead out of this room, one other on the south wall from which they entered. One each in the middle of the west and east walls and 2 doors on the north wall.   Balen moves to the other south door to see if the head’s eyes follow him but they do not.   Balen says, “That’s a good thing that’s a big giant, don’t want to have to fight it.”   When entering the room there is 9:30 minutes left on both spells.   Balen attempts to listen to anything behind the 2 nd south door rolling a 25% which he needed but does not hear anything. Balen moves to the east door, rolling a 67% and does not hear anything beyond.   Fenwe has a closer look around the neck of the giant head, looking to see if there is a way down but the floor is solid around & under the neck.   Sheila opens the 2 nd south door and her Find Trap spell illuminates in the doorway indicating a trap there!   Fenwe tries to use his keen senses to see where a trap mechanism is but could not discern of one.   Sheila then opens the east door and again the Find Trap spell illuminates in the doorway! Her spell finds a trap in the north eastern door too.   The west door is opened to have the Find Traps spell glow in it’s doorway as well!   Finally the north west door is tried but it could not be opened by any of the adventurers so xilicien tries his Knock spell and still the door remains solidly shut!   Fenwe, meanwhile goes back into the octagonal room with the bust, (while other party members continued to fruitlessly try to budge the door open), which looks like the head in the current room. [Frank Mentzer, the author of the module, said apparently the bust is 145 cubic inches big not 5 inches tall, as mentioned in the module].   Fenwe firsts tries to turn the pedestal itself but it does not budge. Then he simply turns the statue clockwise, but still nothing, not even anything happening in the big head room, where the rest of the party is. Next Fenwe tries to pull on the statue like a lever, and this time tipping it causes an inner cylinder under the base to begin to rise exposing a ring inside of it which, Fenwe grabs before the cylinder reaches it’s full height, a foot out of the pedestal when suddenly a Fireball explodes out of the cylinder, filling the room and expanding 75 feet out of it through both opened doors!   Fenwe makes his save vs spells rolling a 15 ≥ 13 taking only half damage of 14! Dropping him to 38 hit points.
When he returns with the bust and ring, (which he is now wearing), the party reacts to his appearance.   Balen says, “What happened? Jump into a bonfire?”   Sheila says, “Are you OK? Do you need some healing?”   Xilicien says, “Are we under attack?”   Fewe (to Sheila) says, “Yes, please.”   Sheila, patches him up a bit healing back 1 hit point.   Fenwe, thinking the troublesome door will open with the ring on, tries pushing it open but still it will not budge!   Fenwe, punches at the head hologram with the ring hand in frustration and still there is no effect!   Xilicien says, “Perhaps if you twirl your finger, or rotate the ring?”   Attempting to move the head hologram with the ring also has no effect.   Balen says, “What do you feel with the ring on? Feel any different.”   But Fenwe does not feel anything different nor does the ring communicate to him an any ways as to what it does.   Xilicien says, “Try putting the statue on the illusion.”   Fenwe gives the golden bust to Xilicien and when the head sees the bust, it’s open eyes close.   When Fenwe touches the north west door it finally opens!   Fenwe says, “What would you guys do without me, ooooo, ouch, that heal spell do anything?”   Sheila now casts the cure light wounds spell upon Fenwe healing back 8 hit points, to 47 total.   Fenwe moves into the new passage trying to move silently but does not, saying “Can we abandon this damn maze and go back to town?”   The passage goes west 20 feet turning south then goes west again, turning north, then going east, turning north then going west for 30 feet then turns south for 30 feet, with an intersection up ahead a pebble is tossed which just hits the far wall. [I just assumed he ran back to the rubble in the entrance you can into  which would take a couple minutes, to get some pebbles, since it’s possible at this point.]   Moving to the intersection it is seen to go east, to the west door of the holographic head room, which is trapped. It also goes west to another trap, but just before it is a passage north, of which the pebble is tossed through again without it disappearing. So now Fenwe moves forward , going north 40 feet, turning east going 60 ft then turning south then east the north. The new passage then goes east 100 feet then turns south.   Here the passage goes either west or east now and west is tried, after a pebble toss to proceed safely into the intersection. It turns north then west and has two passages off to the south, one goes 10 feet south then 10 feet south east.   So now the 2 nd south passage is tried, which goes west, turning north then west for 60 ft then south 30 feet, then west 20, north 20 then west 20 feet to the north east door of the holographic head room which is trapped.   Then they head back, near the intersection where the passage goes to the south east. Fenwe doesn’t check for a trap here and gets Zapped! Trying to enter the area where another hexagonal room seems to be.   Balen, sees it happening and has a look of shock on his face, paralyzed with fear!   Balen says, “That’s not the way to go.”   The party then goes east 30 feet, turns north 30 feet then south 30 ft, tossing a pebble at an insection. When it just tumbles to the floor beyond the threshold they move into an area of a possible second octagonal room with a door to the south west where Balen goes to have a listen at.   He rolls a 60% while needing ≤  25% to hear noise and does not hear anything beyond the door so Balen opens it into an Octagonal room with a door on the opposite wall:   This room contains only 2 small golden bells, both sitting on the floor in the center of the room. Each bell has a 3 inch long handle and a 2 inch tall cup.   Fenwe casts a Detect Magic spell on the bells and finds that one is glowing with a magical aura!     It is now: 7:45 am on August 25 (Day 27 on the Isle of Dread).   And that Ends today's Adventure Gaming Session!   Experience Points Awarded this Session: None this session   Loot Found: 2 small golden bells
