A heavy-RP horror campaign that will go from level 1-10, and run for
at least one year. Heavy on the story, if you want a dark campaign that
will ask you to make tough decisions through roleplay, this is for you!
Sessions are every Wednesday at 7PM EST.
The party size is 5 players.
This game requires voice chat through Discord, a decent microphone
(or push to talk), and costs $20 per session (payments are made via
Paypal).
Sessions are weekly, 4 hours on average (though I can usually go up
to 6 hours if everyone is really into it) and I give breaks every hour
and a half (every hour when we go past 3 hours).
A player had to leave for work reasons. The party is level 4
and they've been playing for a few months. They aren't very far into
the module. They just left the village of Barovia, the starting town.
The pace is slow so you can still experience most of the module! This
game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $20 Per
Session, Per Person, via Paypal. Roll20 is not responsible for any
payment
transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements.
Who am I?
I’m a voice actor and writer who started playing D&D with 5th
edition. I’ve been playing for over four years and DMing for two and
half years. I treat D&D like it’s a stage performance, and I really
enjoy working collaboratively with people so we can all feel immersed
in the game.
I prefer to rewrite official modules for my campaigns and usually boost
the level range and add additional content. Using an existing module
gives me a great base to build from so I can flesh out the world with my
own content. I’ve run Curse of Strahd multiple times, and it’s my
favorite D&D module.
What’s my style as a DM?
I run a roleplay-heavy, fully voiced campaign that runs very
similarly to Critical Role. To the best of my ability, every NPC has
their own voice and should make you feel like you’re talking to real
people. I take things slow, and as a result content tends to last a
long time. If you go to buy an item you need, you’ll interact with the
shopkeeper and have a full-on conversation. Everything you do in combat
will have a cinematic description. Time will pass slowly, and you’ll
have time to talk to your party members. I won’t gloss over the small
interactions.
What is this module like?
This is a gothic-horror module that takes inspiration from the story
of Dracula. One of the key aspects of this campaign is the villain, the
Dreadlord Strahd von Zarovich. He rules this world with his powerful
magic and his calculating mind. He’s a villain who prefers to talk
things out. He has lifetimes of experience over the players and he has
his own set of goals. You will interact with him throughout the
adventure and your relationship with him will evolve throughout the
campaign.
This is an Open-World Campaign and you have total freedom to choose
your path. You can attempt the locations at any level. You might
encounter creatures that are much stronger than you and you might want
to run. Combat will be challenging and there is a chance your character
will die. Shops and healers aren’t as common in this land. Most items
will be scarce and extremely expensive. You will spend a lot of time
traveling on the road and there will be a survival element to the game.
Starvation, carry weight, exhaustion, and madness may come into play.
There are monster-movie parallels scattered throughout the world, but
the module is extremely serious. The world is set apart from the
traditional Forgotten Realms setting of a normal D&D module, and is
instead set in another plane, the Domain of Dread! Your characters,
transported here against their will, must explore a dark land full of
corruption, mysteries, difficult decisions, and horrific creatures. The
people of this land know only pain and suffering. Will your characters
be the symbol of hope they need?
You will have to make tough choices that will change this world
forever. NPCs and PCs will live and die because of your decisions, and
there will not always be a right answer. This is not your typical
D&D campaign centered around heroes and dragons. The people of this
land have lived in the shadows so long, it won’t be easy to make them
see the light. They’ve given up hope, but you can show them another
way!
Why Pay to Play?
I’m an experienced DM who has a true commitment to running an
excellent game of D&D. I’m very comfortable with the rules,
frequently teach new players and DMs alike, and I’m comfortable leading a
group of strangers and keeping them on task and having fun. My voices
are top-notch, I read the descriptions in a very soothing tone, and I’m
good at reading the mood of the room too!
I’ll show you every feature Roll20 can provide. Dynamic lighting,
macros, API scripts, and many other features will be at your fingertips.
I've made dozens of maps, collected countless others from various
mapmakers on Patreon, and I've curated hundreds of songs from movie and
game soundtracks that I think best capture the tone of the campaign. I
have commissioned art for all the major locations so the art you see is
exactly what I’m describing. I’m committed to making you feel like you
got the best D&D experience in the world.
The game will be very slow, will focus intently on your characters,
and your backstory will be relevant. I work closely with my players to
make their characters and make sure they’re happy with their story.
This will be a collaborative process. I can help you tie your character
into the world, or I can change the world to fit your backstory.
The first session and session zero are free, so if you decide you don’t
enjoy the module or the way I run the game, you only lose your time.
