As you ride in the caravan and look out the window at the snowy desolation, you question (not for the first time) your decision to make this trek to Icewind Dale. However, if what you have been told is indeed true, a short time in this unforgiving wasteland can score you enough riches and fame to live the rest of your days in luxury. If you survive, that is. You look around at the motley collection of other hopefuls in the large carriage, this ragtag group you have gotten to know over the past weeks of traveling together, and wonder how many of them will meet their end in these icy wastes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- I generally do not run published modules often, as I prefer to homebrew. However, there seems to be a lot of demand for the upcoming Rime of the FrostMaiden , so I am looking to run a group through its entirety. When I do run a module, I do not run it "as is". I tweak it, build up the roleplay opportunities and, when possible, weave in character backstories. This is not going to just be a dungeon crawl/combat simulator. I generally aim for a 70/30 mix of RP/Combat. I have been running games like this for over 30+ years. Here are a few things about my style: I reward solid roleplay and commitment. If you do not think you can regularly make a weekly game, please do not apply. I lean heavily towards PHB character builds. Other sourcebook material may be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. DnD sometimes deals with gritty topics such as prejudice, slavery, prostitution, etc. I try to present these things (when appropriate) in a tasteful fashion. Antagonistic or derogatory speech or behavior towards any other player for any reason such as race, gender, sexual orientation, or anything else will not be tolerated. PERIOD. I run a game that is a safe space for creatives to roleplay and enjoy themselves without fear of judgment. Variant encumbrance rules will be used, as detailed here- If you carry weight in excess of 5 times your Strength score, you are encumbered , which means your speed drops by 10 feet. If you carry weight in excess of 10 times your Strength score, up to your maximum carrying capacity, you are instead heavily encumbered , which means your speed drops by 20 feet and you have disadvantage on ability checks, attack rolls, and saving throws that use Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution. One of my players in my other campaign had this to say - " He is a great DM. He is imaginative and story focused. Your characters will be a big and important part of the story and you will always be encouraged to explore and enjoy your party interaction. He is always open for feedback and always willing to let you try and explore your character as it grows." Rime of the FrostMaiden releases Tuesday, 9/15. I am looking to have Session Zero within the next week or two to do character creation and discuss expectations. Session Zero is free of charge. After that, it is $10 per player per session. If you made it this far and wish to apply, please comment on this thread with the following: Name Years experience with RPGs How would you describe the type of player you are?
