World Map And Dynamic Lights

Greetings folks! My group and I are playing through Curse of Strahd and something has always been bugging me, they can all see the entirety of the world map for Barovia. This isn't much of an issue, but I would like to spice up world travel a bit by making them able to see a set distance and I thought I could use Dynamic Lights to do just that! However, UDL does nothing in that department. None of the players have night vision turned on, nor are there any light sources, yet they can all see as if daylight mode is turned on (which it isn't). Are there any ways for me to achieve this without using multiple API scripts?

Yes. This is one application where UDL might be robust enough / ready. On the world map: Turn on UDL Turn on Explorer mode Add a token to the map to represent the party. This token should emit light however far you want the players to "see" from their current location. I am not sure about the scale of that map, but it might be 1 mile, 10 miles, etc. Create a 70x70 pixel transparent PNG file. Drop it in the corner of the map and set it to be controlled by all players (but don't tell them about it). Give it vision. When you move the party token, the light source will clear fog of war for you, but the players will not be able to grab it and move it themselves.

For something like a world map, where you need to reveal a space explored by a party, I would just use regular Fog of War. It's much easier to control, and bulletproof.
After some fiddling I made Brian's suggestion work! It looks great on the map as well!
