( Definitely possible from the API. Let me know if you want to jump to Mentor and do it. It's probably 10 lines of code, most of which I already have written... =D )
Lyle, what I do is set up a journal entry and "show it to players" when they encounter it, which will create a pop-up window sorta with whatever image you put there. Kind of a work around until Aaron does his script. And Aaron, as usual, whatever you create, I'm a taker. :P

Also, Lyle, you can call up any image you've uploaded from your personal art library (the black star icon to the right of the image search field) and drag it over to the tabletop. No need to upload the image over and over again.

a question about the landing page. If I end the session, sending the players back to the landing page, next time I log on and send them back, will it keep them in the positions they were when they left?

@Shadrick - yes, the page they were on will be preserved in its current state, with the caveat that they can adjust their characters attributes freely regardless of which page they are on.
cool, these suggestions worked very well, thank you everyone!
Hey everyone I stumbled upon this site and it looks very interesting and promising. To the people running it great job and keep up the good work. Ive always wanted to get into table top gaming being a fan of RPGs since I was six but never had any friends that showed any interest in it. Now with this site maybe Id have that chance. Except theres one little problem. I have no knowledge of tabletops...at all....like literally zero. Im wanting to try D and D considering its the biggest to my knowledge so my question is where do I begin? Do I make a char? Should I study the rule books? Where would I get a rule book?! Any help would be appreciated and thank you in advance.

Hey Leonard, welcome! It's probably easiest for you to find a group of people in the Looking For Group tool or by posting or responding to a post in the Looking a For Group forum. I wouldn't worry about not knowing the game rules, most GMs are happy to teach you and there are games out there specifically geared to first timers. If you do want to get a head start, 5th edition DnD just came out and there are basic rules you can download for free here: <a href="http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/basicrule" rel="nofollow">http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/basicrule</a>... Pathfinder is also very similar to DnD, so don't be afraid to jump into one of those. Have fun!
Thanks Aaron Ill definitely try it out and see where it goes. Wish me luck!
I am looking at starting a new 5E campaign - what is the best way to find players?

I'm new to this site and back to tabletop after about a 10 year hiatus. I have a question but not about character creation or making a session. I notice that if you become a supporter that you can get access to roll20 on iOS. I'm wonder does that mean if i sub that i can use roll20's features on my iphone? Or does ios strictly mean tablet in this case?
Greetings all. I have scanned this thread, unless I missed it, it appears that there is no rule integration (as in accessible via help bubble etc.) for the various RPG's. I write an indie published tabletop rpg and am wondering if there is a way to integrate rules, or make pdf or some other electronic versions available within the roll20 environment that stay trapped there and are not downloadable. Secondly it appears as though I need a payed membership to create custom character sheets, is that correct?

Adam, I believe that is for tablets only. Not for phones. And if you create a campaign as a supporter, all your players will be able to access the tablet capability. A supporter account also allows you to create a campaign without ads and you'll be able to utilize dynamic lighting. John, there is no rule integration in Roll20. It's a system agnostic platform. A newly created campaign is a blank slate for you to play what you wish on it. The modules that are sold on Roll20 include a PDF of their rules/adventure campaign and that's downloaded separately. Presently there isn't a means within the campaign itself to display a book integrated and locked within it. There's handout documents, but they basically behave as text documents and can only display a single image. A handout doesn't function as a PDF reader with page flipping capability. A mentor account is required to create a custom character sheet (and some web authoring knowhow since the sheets are designed with HTML and Javascript).
I just signed up no more than 30 minutes ago. how do I make a custom character sheet?
Like This. Note that this requires Mentor-level subscription. However, there are several excellent player-made character sheets readily available to GMs of any status, including free users, which can be chosen when creating (or modifying) a campaign. -Phnord
I'm new here and would love a partner GM to make a fun futuristc Anime-style adventure. I'm also looking for a game to join to get to know the ropes.

Fruity, you'll want to use the LFG tool or post in the LFG forum to get yourself a group of players.
Trying out Roll20 with my long-time gaming group (13th Age rules), couple of question about tokens: 1) I'd like my players to have ability to control tokens by default, but it seems that I have to give them access for each token individually. That would be an annoying hassle in the long run. Is there setting or a way to change the default? 2) I have player characters in the Journal with default token and player's edit/access rights set. If I drag-and-drop a character to a map on a page, I'd expect to get a token that represents the character and have the player able to control it. However, what I'm getting is the right token but with settings (ie, Represents Character is None). Is this the what it supposed to happen or I'm I missing some setting or doing it wrong?
Howdy, JussiH, and welcome to Roll20! 1) Not as such; however, see 2)... 2) When you set up your tokens, be sure that every aspect is set correctly before you save it. This may help. Doing so will give you what you want. -Phnord, who has lost track of his nickels.
Hello everyone! I'm fairly new to tabletop games, and am looking for help in learning d&d 3.5. i'd like to learn to play as a character, and later DM. i'm looking for someone to DM, and also help me learn the game and not get terribly frustrated with my questions and lack of game mechanic knowledge. i've got a MM, DMG, PG, and tons of other resources. Now I just need to learn the game! I did stop at my local hobby shop, and was disappointed that the very few people playing d&d weren't willing to add another player to their party of 5 plus DM, and the person running the store doesn't sell d&d supplies (not as good a seller as tcgs, apparently). i have paged through the books, and am worried i'm going to teach myself the WRONG way to play, or miss something vital. is there anyone who can help show me the way? get back to me, and we can exchange info and find something that works! I'm typically available wednesdays after 10:30pm, after 8pm on thursday, saturday after 10pm, sunday after 6pm. thanks in advance!
Eric M. You need to specify your time zone, I do 2E myself, you should search in the looking for group for the times you are available. the search automatically adjust from your time zone, so, your late night game couls be a GM in Australia's Breakfast game. You could also post in the LFP section of the forums.

Eric, if you decide to GM, I'd recommend watching the Roll20 Crash Course to see how a campaign is setup on the platform.
thanks guys! i didn't think of the time zone differences at all. but i'll be sure to post in the correct places!

I speak Spanish so I can hardly find a game ... do not know Spanish or Latino communities So I write here ... From already thank you very- Hola Axel y bienvenidos a Roll20 . Hi Axel and welcome to Roll20. Your best bet is probably to post in Looking for Group or use the Looking For Group Tool to locate a game. I'm not sure what you can do to get in touch with a Spanish/Latino community on Roll20, but that would probably be the best place to start. Certainly, if you choose the Language Spanish there are several things that come up, one of which is "Habla Hispana Unida", which seems to be a group of 137 Spanish speaking players.

Hey guys, I'm very new to Roll20, maybe not so new to traditional RPGs. Just looking for a group that will accept a newbie, I've only had a little experience with DnD 4.0, but I'm very fascinated with DnD and RPGs in general. Eventually would like to learn how to DM, especially in 3.5.

Um I'm starting a new campaign and I don't know how to get more people to see it so they can ask to join

Hi Cap. There are two main ways to do this. One way is to post an introduction about the game in the Looking for group forum. The second way is to create an active listing of your game. Most GM's do both. It is highly recommended you read the crash course wiki page and the various other links in this thread. Good luck and keep the dice rolling.

Hello, Been on Roll20 for a few months now, working on a supers campaign for ICONS. Three weeks ago my computer crashed and as a stop gap, and for other necessities, I am going to get a tablet. Is there any recommendations on good tablets to research that work well with Roll20?

Erik, some people might post recommendations here, but I think you'd get more if you post a separate thread in the General On-Topic forum for that question. You'll get more eyes from tablet users seeing it and be able to give you better input.

Hi, I'm new here, and so I'm not quite sure what to do.... I've expressed interest in a campaign, and roll20 sent me an email with a link to accept the invite to join the campaign, but the link doesn't work. Now how do I get in contact with the GM of the campaign I want to play? Thanks!

Ann, where abouts did you express your interest for said campaign? A Looking For Group listing? The looking for group forum?
It was the looking for group listing, a Dungeon World campaign called On the road for an adventure.

Ann, the GM's name should be in the email you received. You can use that to PM him/her. You can get to the PM system by clicking on the "Welcome, Ann M." link at the top right corner of the website. (Or use this link: <a href="https://app.roll20.net/private_message/inbox" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/private_message/inbox</a> ) Next, click "New Private Message" (the blue box) and then enter the GM's name in the recipient field. Give the system a moment to find the GM (you may need to select from a list) and you can PM the GM.
Is there a way load multiple characters outside of a campaign? For instance you want to play a one of and have to type in all the stats for that character each time...A little too time consuming and frustrating IMHO. thanks in advance. Cal

Hello, I'm new to roll20 and just made a 2 players vs. campaign (not really an RPG, more like chess or wargame) and I like to share it with my friend, who want to be GM for his friends himself. Can I somehow share my campaing to him? Or maybe give him a copy?

Do you mean have him copy your campaign into his campaign? If you mean that then not in roll20 but you can share the components outside of roll20 (if they are on your computer) and help him piece it together. If you meant to just let him use your campaign as a GM then all you need to do is elevate him in the campaign as a CO-GM. You do this by going to your campaign detail page (where all the avatars of the people that belong to your game are shown) and highlight their image then select the promote to GM. This makes them a co-gm inside the game board itself but not in the campaign forum area. Hope that helps.
I'm new to roll20 and i'm not understanding how to make a character. Interested in pathfinder and anything D&D

I would recommend you join a group first and ask the GM how he wants characters to be made. Each GM might have a specific way he wants a character created. Two methods of finding a group to join. If you look up top of the page, you will see the blue banner and there is a link named "Looking for group". Click on that and it will take your to a campaign search listing. Choose your system, your days and time, checkmark "welcome new players" and then click on find games. This will give you a list of games that are compatible or close to what you are looking for (it is suppose to work that way). The other way is to go to the looking for group forum and look for a game posted that you are interested in. You can also post a looking for game post there also but those tend to get ignored most of the time unless you really make an interesting post. Good luck and it will take time to find a group so don't give up.
