Potential DM : I am a Retired US Military Veteran DM, 54 living in Thailand. Gaming since 1977. I started with the sfrpg "Classic Traveller." Style: I prefer to run long-term Grim / Serious Gritty Realism campaigns with intricate individual character and party story arcs based on background stories of your individual characters' origins. I can also do Comedy, Light-hearted Adventure, intrigue / Spy / Rogue themes, or Horror if players prefer.I like to run Low Fantasy. I don't want to deal with High Level High Fantasy slaying Armies of Ancient Dragons before breakfast. My best skills are in role playing NPCs ( I can do different accents and voices) and doing kick ass maps, and lore. Availability: I am in fact retired here, so I have time and reliability. I have little kids at home on the weekends- so my availability would be weeknights USA time , starting from Sunday at 8 p.m. West Coast to Thursday at 8 p.m. West Coast ... until 11, 11:30 or midnight. ..PST-. My 10 AM is your West Coast US 8 PM. (I am in ICT Bangkok time, 14 hours ahead). My kids are in daycare while I would run, so they're not a problem during the weekdays. Maybe 1 session, once a week. Party Size: Party of four or five people Max because otherwise, nobody can get time to interact during the session. Game System: I can do D&D 5e, or One Ring (if you guys like Lord of the Rings; I like the setup and the system better than D&D) Or, I most prefer to run sci-fi more via Mongoose Traveller sfrpg 2nd edition. I like Hard Core survival/realism, hard-luck characters that are scrambling to pay the rent and upgrade their gear. Low fantasy, where the human NPCs are more dangerous than, for example, orc tribes. LEVELS: I much prefer low-to-moderate character levels, <10, lots of Voice RP, with some combat to serve the story, unless you are all fighters and then in that case there's going to be a lot more combat. Player Leveling: Milestones Preferred, or a progression based on the story. I don't want to track XP minutiae, but I can if we must. You do not have to start at 1st level. I really do not want to run a 15th level high-power game. Magic: Not a lot of magic. It's there, but potions, etc. everything is rare. No magic Shops. No Monty Haul: Each sword is one of a kind- No golf bags of identical vorpal swords, flame tongues, and the like. I will hand craft every item. Potential Party: The characters have to fit together as a party, although they can have diverse backgrounds. But no Assassin vs. Paladin parties. If you want to play the modified Ranger that's cool. I'm okay with clerics, my degree is in Asian religious studies. I like to use NPC magic users, including witches as the evil in the campaign mostly in how Conan films did that. If you want to go with a magic user, or sorcerer, that's cool. If you're a warlock, then you're going to have to deal with your Patron and I will enforce that. Really not into Druids, and their party-dominating familiars...from prior, multiple bad experiences. I'm not looking for Eladrin or any of the weird off brand Homebrew / internet character classes or races. I cannot stand evil characters that tend to destroy group Harmony , everybody in a group has to be a co-op player...no lone wolves... although you could have wildly diverse backgrounds or whatever. Voice: I prefer to use Discord for voice. I get it that you guys are looking for 5e and I have run that here for years and I was a beta tester for 5e on its initial release. I like to determine the story organically from the backstory. I.e. there's a continent, but what you guys give me for characters determines what's happening (at least in the initial situation.) I'm not looking for Min-Maxers, CharOp, or Power Gamers. I'm looking for role-players who want to get involved in a delightful story where the players choose forks in the road, and drive the narrative but they don't drive it into evil. I used to run a Neverwinter Nights server online where I was the lead DM for 6 lesser DM's for 3 years and we had epic campaigns (6 groups of 6 players each) that I used to run... plus sessions once a week via Neverwinter Nights. I have voice acting and film acting experience, and I'm a writer. I do not charge. For those among the group or not on the west coast, it's going to be pushing into late-night hours for you guys, anybody on the East Coast US. For them, game would start at 11 p.m. Also, as a note to others out there if you're living in Southeast Asia / Singapore / Australia I'll be starting at 10 a.m. ICT Bangkok time, although I live near Chiang Mai. I'm not looking to get into any player on player hassles or drama. I expect the players to be mature and get along as role-players / ad-lib actors who are working together on the same project and they're pushing for the project success- not for individual success based on egoism. If you can't share the spotlight, I can't use you. Play your character as Written, please - I realize the characters are Dynamic but... please don't give me a concept that is fleshed out pre-game for a week with back and forth and then you don't even play that guy as written. Meaning don't tell me you're going to play a good cleric... working for a temple of neutral good that I end up designing out with all the NPCs and the lay people involved...that suddenly becomes lawful evil Player-Slayer because it's your character and your freedom. Likewise, I don't want to deal with any chaotic neutral bullshit, Ground Zero Fireballs against the party... murdering other player characters in their sleep, or Contracting NPCs to do the same... Co-op play. Post here and we can negotiate pretty much everything. Game link Invites Sent to VampireGoat69, Myerk, and RidgeRaven.
