Welcome to the World of Argent! Hello everyone! I'm looking for people interested in starting a homebrew campaign together. The world is a two-shelled planet called Argent (art credit Venomantis), a setting consisting of two separate halves of the planet known as Sedden and Sear. The world contains everything from high magic to magipunk-esque technology, with places suitable to a intrigue-filled campaign, a dungeon-delving expedition, or just about anything else. Introduction The world is a two-shelled planet called Argent, a setting consisting of two separate halves of the planet known as Sedden and Sear. Sear is filled with high magic, dragons nearly as old as the planet itself, underground societies where gravity is low, and massive forests where megafauna of all sorts live. Sedden is filled with wide magic; sapient automatons known as warforged in the industrial country of Auburn, vampire conclaves in the no-mans-land known as Veno'mia, and sky scrapers in the avariel elf city of Filyn'drast. It's currently 1775 AD, and the ruin-delving industry of Friya has hit a golden age! Hopeful adventurers from all over Sedden are braving the harsh desert and harsher inhabitants to exhume secrets of old, and with them, enough riches to sate even the greediest dragon. Meanwhile, across the great tradeway sea, expansionists from all over the shell have their eyes on the ruined country of Arcadia, a place laid waste to by the eldest and most powerful dragoness, Vandria. Ambition is stirring all over the shell, and enterprising adventurers and mercenaries are chomping at the bit to carve their name in the shell, and maybe even the whole world. Overview New and experienced players welcome! Roll20 for the maps, discord for the chat. Voice is preferred, but if everyone agrees, play-by-post can be accommodated! This game is welcoming to LGBT+, as well as any race or gender! I have a vast arrangement of potential homebrew in the form of spells, classes, magic items, and subclasses. All official content is allowed, except Yuan-Ti and Aarakocra (there are other flying races, however!). Looking for a group of 3-5! Sessions will be 3-4 hours each. A living, breathing world! (See "About the Game") The game is 18+ . This is to avoid all sorts of issues with payment. Payment Session 0 is completely free! Session 1 is $5/player! Further sessions are $10/player/session. There is an additional $5/player charge for each half hour over the time limit, with a grace period of 15 minutes to put a bow on the session. Payment is done via PayPal, though Venmo is also accepted. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. About Me I'm Incog, a DM in his twenties, living in the U.S.A. I've been DMing for 3 years now, and have DM'd over 100 games (both campaign games and one shots) within the last year alone! I have plenty of experience running for all skill levels. Whether you need a reminder which die is the d20, or if you can recite the PHB backwards from memory, I'm capable of giving you an enjoyable and engaging experience. I take inspiration from other DMs I've seen, most notably Matthew Colville. When it comes to roleplaying, I do NPC voices to make it easier for players to distinguish NPCs, and dramatic to dour to excitable to eccentric. About the Game The world of Argent is not my creation alone; it's a collaboration of just under a dozen DMs and writers. Constructed from the ground up in order to serve as an interesting and engaging setting for DnD 5e, there's something for everyone, without feeling like a kitchen-sink world. On Sandboxes The world is completely open, and the world lives and breathes on its own. If players are interested in this, I can run the world as an open sandbox or a closed sandbox . An open sandbox is a world in which other player characters exist and make their mark on the world; you may stumble upon a dungeon already explored by another party while you travel, or see the body of a fallen member of some other mercenary group! Your dungeon delve might be interrupted by a loose demon another group accidentally set free, or your dinner with the local lord might go extra smoothly thanks to diplomatic efforts of players before you. In the same way, you will impact the open sandboxes of other games in this setting! A closed sandbox will still be a living breathing world; time will march on no matter what, and decisions will still matter! However, the actions of players in a different world won't have any impact on your adventure (though that doesn't apply to rival NPCs!). Regardless of your choice, you will still be in a dynamic world, and you will still have all of the freedom that a sandbox entails. Find after your first dungeon delve that the ancient halls aren't for you? Try your hand at vampire politics in Veno'mia! The smog of Auburn got you down? See if you can find work in the underwater nation of Coraar! I'm not here to tell my story with players as characters; I'm here to *work with* the players in order to create a story we all had a hand in authoring. On Roleplay I value roleplay highly. What I mean by this is that I will be maintaining a high level of internal consistency, and ask that players do the same. Does that mean I require a 21 page backstory? Not at all! Nor does your character have to be an all-work-no-play character who can't smile (though that's also okay!). What it does mean is that PCs should behave as people, not as videogame characters. As for me, I will put as much work into your characters as you do! Backstories are one of the best parts of DnD for me, and I love weaving character's backstories into the narrative. Each character will get their moment to shine, both on a mechanical level and on a roleplay level. Each character will also be challenged, but how can one have heroism without a challenge? The game itself will be PG-13. What this means is that adult topics (sexuality, heavy topics such as abuse, etc.) may make an appearance, but only off screen. Specifics about this will be handled in session 0, and I take the comfort of my players very seriously. On Mechanics I run a RaW game. However, sometimes RaW is cumbersome - for instance, did you know that sorcerers cannot twin a firebolt, as it can target an object, RaW? Any and all rules that go against RaW will be outlined in a document beforehand so you know what to expect. Occasionally strange situations will come up, in which case I will make a **ruling**. Rulings are temporary, and made to keep the pace of the game flowing smoothly instead of wasting everyone's time going book diving. After the fact, I will discuss the ruling with the players and we'll come to an agreement and create the **rule**, which will be added to the outline for easy reference in the future. Okay, I'm in! Glad to hear it! You can express your interest by applying here . The form has the common questions I need to ask every player, as well as helps me coordinate schedules and the like. Please don't hesitate to send me a PM or just leave a comment with any clarifying questions! You can find the listing here !
