The heroes have defeated the Iron Circle invaders and liberated the Harkenwold but, before returning to Fallcrest, they want to learn more about an unusual card they found: "The Key." The card is believed to be part of a legendary artifact, the "Deck of Many Things," and the most knowledgeable arcane sages in the Nentir Vale are the mysterious Mages of Saruun that reside deep within Thunderspire Peak. The disaster that befell Gardmore Abbey, which foreshadowed the collapse of the Nerath Empire, is believed to have been triggered by this legendary artifact and, as the old saying goes, "Forewarned is forearmed." This game is a D&D 5e campaign that uses the D&D 4e setting of the "Nentir Vale", the 4e pantheon and has numerous House Rules; see Game Listing forum for more details and to submit a player application. This 6-session adventure is adapted from a portion of the D&D 4e adventure "Thunderspire Labyrinth" and continues with a 15-session adventure, "Madness at Gardmore Abbey," starting in January.
