Looking for a group that will let me play something unique

I am a mostly experienced player. But I am still learning. I am looking for a group or a DM that will allow me to play unique races for example the shifter, the centaur so on and so forth. I've been having a hard time finding a group that will allow me to play something different than the generic stuff.
