time zone?

How do I set my timezone for the site? does it auto-detect my timezone and use what it finds? what if it's wrong?

Where does your timezone actually come into play on the site?

Aaron, the time displayed for the next game session in a campaign is based on your time zone. Also the timestamp for forum posts, but that's less critical than the time you need to show up to play! =)

Ah, that makes sense. I always use external means to track game time. (Google calendar and phone calls saying "WE'RE GAMING, WHERE THE HECK ARE YOU!" =D )

I'm guessing that if there isn't a setting for this on the player (I didn't see one) or the campaign (didn't see one there either) and based on the location of the development team in CST, that all times are in CST. Certainly being in CST myself, the times appear to be correct for me.

Actually all the times displayed are based off your browser/computer settings. That means that player A in GMT-2 will see the correct time based on their settings while player B in GMT+6 will see the correct time based on their settings. Example: the GM be in GMT and set the game for 12pm (noon) and A will see it at 10am while B will see it at 8pm or at least how I understand it.

Interestingly, as I write this post, I'm connected to a VPN located in New Jersey, and yet all the times are correct for my current location (Texas). Meanwhile, Google Maps defaults me to NJ when I visit. =3

I once had problems with this website getting my time-zone wrong by 1 hour, about a month ago. For 2 weeks in a row, it kept telling me my DM's game time was 5:30 PM, when my DM had it showing as 6:30 PM on his computer, and we are both in the same time zone (happens to be the same time zone mentioned above, Central US). The problem went away after 2 weeks without explanation. I've always found this site seems to auto-detect everyone's time zone where you are checking the computer / using the internet from.
