Moloch listens intently as she lays out the situation. He says that most ghosts are tied to a location (usually related to their death). Some spirits haunt a specific person (or group). He has a few ideas on how he might be laid to rest. Since Orson committed suicide it could be he never got a proper burials, last rites, consecrated ground, etc. and that is why his spirit continues to walk the Earth. Another way a spirit can be bound to the mortal realm is that they have a task they need to fulfill. Moloch gives a couple of examples, a ghost of a man who buried a treasure who couldn’t find peace until it was in the hands of his family and of a pirate who needed to save 100 lives to balance the innocent lives he took in life.   He also said there have been ghost who do everything in their power not to complete their task so they can stay in the mortal realm forever. Moloch gives her his name and number (William Edgar Bright) and offers any help she might need in the future. He wishes her well and the party continues. After she separates from Moloch Constable approaches her curious about what she and Moloch talked about. When she tells him Constable says that he has a weapon system (a kind of energy) that is effective on desolid targets. He offers to blast the ghost and get rid of it that way. He also offers to help research Orson to see why his spirit is condemned to walk the earth.   Tuesday September 4 Paladin takes monitoring duty. He is looking for police who are in trouble. This is a priority because The Comedian and Rorschach believe he (and the Brooklyn Brigade) have something to do with the vanishing (and murdered) police officers. Constable and Kismet spend some time researching Orson Arlington.   Marvel Girl goes to the police and wants to speak with the Organized Crime unit to get more information on Manfred Saietta. She talks to Detective Joe Nardini. He tells her that Manfred Saietta is a pervert, misogynist, and a worm but he hasn’t done anything illegal (as far as the police can prove). Nardini encourages her to bring any evidence, proof, etc. to him against Manfred as soon as possible. Nardini says he has a wife and a daughter. If he can take a pervert like Manfred off the streets his girls would be safer…and he likes that. Nardini suggests next time she comes by bringing donuts or something, would be a nice gesture. He also says that Spagos on the corner serves a mean corn beef sandwich. MG says she might try them for lunch.   Flashback to the party last night: Kismet tells the others what she learned from Captain Metropolis about the Saietta crime family.   Paladin goes to Captain Metropolis to ask him some questions about clarifying what he told Kismet especially about the hotel room meeting involving Saietta, Silvermane’s (Silvio Manfredi) son Joey, Mr. Fixit (of the Genovese Family), Piranha Jones, Hammerhead, and Vinnie ‘the Axe’ Coletti. Metropolis explains that on August 28 th Silvio Manfredi’s Park Avenue home was torched with him inside! Only the quick actions of his nurse saved his life. Manfredi figured it was another criminal organization trying to take him out in a hit. Rather than just hitting them back, because that could start a full fledged war, Manfredi went to the Commission, the secret mob organization that maintains peace between crime families. C.M. tells Paladin that the 5 strongest crime families in New York (maybe the country) have a seat in the Commission (and they are:    Bonanno Family, Colombo Family, Gambino Family, Genovese Family, and the Lucchese Family). Paladin asks how the Commission keeps the peace, C.M. answers ‘The Killing Syndicate’. Who are? They are the most powerful assassins around. Such as Demise who can kill you with a glance (first your blood starts to boil, then your head explodes). C.M. says even Mr. Fixit doesn’t want to deal with Demise. Others that he has heard of include Mongoose and Tombstone. There are of course others. Anyway the Commission gave Manfredi leave to have the meeting at the hotel in order to find out who tried to kill him and get reparations. Again, Paladin wanted to know why Manfredi didn’t handle it himself, CM’s answer The Commission, by virtue of the Killing Syndicate, keeps the peace. Paladin then asked why PRIMUS wasn’t involved. CM said PRIMUS is federal. CM suggests that SAT or PART would be better suited for local enforcement. Paladin cites the Ricco act to get PRIMUS (and SAT) involved in going after the Commission but CM says they have their hands full dealing with the likes of VIPER, RAVEN, DEMON, SHADOW, etc. Paladin cuts him off…his head was beginning to hurt having all these new organizations thrown at him. VIPER, at least, he was more familiar with.   Kismet find the birth announcement for Orson Arlington. He was born on October 31, 1900 and died by ‘misadventure’ October 31, 1930. His father, Augustus Arlington was RICH, by the standards of the 1900s he was like Howard Hughes rich. Constable found a bit more, he was able to confirm it was suicide. Orson hung himself in the lobby of the failed hotel that his father built for him. It was the last of a series of failed projects that Augustus financed. After Orson’s death Augustus formed the Orson Arlington Memorial Education Foundation. He donated the (failed) hotel to Empire State University, the site of the old hotel is the current location for the girls dormitory. The foundation he created in his son’s name financed the university during its early years until it made a name for itself. The Orson Arlington Memorial Education Foundation does not exist by that name any longer it was absorbed into the greater body of governors for the University.   After finishing their research Constable gets a call from Carol Cross, she needs to speak to him. They make plans to met at the Mesa Grill at 9PM.   Kismet (aka Kaitlynn Jones) also gets a call from Sherry Marsh, her friend the RA. Her uncle, Dr. Edgar Cizko, is in her motel room (where she is staying until the girls dorm is reopened) and is looking for her (Kaitlynn). She has Sherry send him to the Coffee Bean (on campus coffee house) where she will see him. Dr. Edgar Cizko, aka Doctor Psycho, lost his powers when Wonder Woman cured him before the Exodus. Since then he has been trying to rejoin society but because of his criminal past he is destitute. That and the multiple law suits he has had to pay for the damages he wrought while he was Doctor Psycho have destroyed him, fiscally. He can’t get a job and is currently homeless. Kismet and Constable set him up in a Motel 6 for a while and Kismet is going to try to get him some consulting work through the Prometheus Foundation. Cizko, upon hearing about her problems at the girls dorm tells her he minored in Occult studies while getting his Doctorate in psychology. He offers his help to rid her of the pesky ghost. She has not taken him up on the offer.   Marvel Girl on the way back to the base she is attacked by Humani, 2 Bulettes, three Kindred Canines, and a pair of Bloodbots. She calls the rest of the group (luckily Paladin was at the base so he could respond quickly, otherwise Constable flies fast enough that he got himself and Kismet to the fight very quickly).   The Brooklyn Brigade was outnumbered 2 to 1. There were 3 Kindred Canines, 2 Bulettes, Hamani, and 2 Bloodbots. In a fierce conflict all the Kindred were defeated as were most of the Brigade. As the last of the Kindred were knocked out the Bloodbots activated their self destruct systems and blew themselves to bits.   Hamani (the cat-woman hybrid) survived but was seriously unconscious. In fact she was the first one knocked out in the fight, laid low by Marvel Girl. She was knocked far enough away from the remaining battle which ensured her survival. The three canines did not survive, they were finished off by the explosion when the ‘bots self destructed.   During the aftermath a scrap of paper was found on Hamani. A DNA diagram signed by Chester Kingston, Marvel Girl’s missing father. -End Session-
