Dusty, with the help of the Boromar clan takes over ownership and control of Sundry's shop. He then spends some time working with his family to re-establish smuggling routes. He also volunteers to take part in scouting parties along the Droam border.  Dusty finds  that Sundry's shop was just a front for fencing goods and smuggling items, one of the most valuable items being the corrupted Kyber Crystals that his family are able to start smuggling to him again. With the smuggling routes reestablished Dusty is able to provide more money for his family, as supports his wider family in Sharn well so that no longer are scraping to survive.  The sole customer of the corrupted crystals is Merrix d'Cannith (through a proxy), and there is an understanding that Dusty will sell them to nobody else. There is also an understanding that if anyone asks about them Dusty will let Merrix know (through the proxy). However, after some time passes, Dusty receives a message from Topsy, asking for some of the corrupted Kyber Crystals. Thinking that nobody will know if some of the Crystals go missing, Dusty arranges for a good amount of the Crystals to be delivered to Topsy's father in Sharn. Dusty does not tell Merrix of this.
