Old school DM embraces new school - LFP

Running 5th edition in PST... West Coast Old school DM here, adapting to fifth ed. Old school style with modern attitude (NOT a grognard neckbeard). I'm not a railroady story gamer (mostly), but somebody who sets the scene and challenges. If I have a group that wants more structured story I can certainly accommodate to at least some degree. Decades of long dedicated face to face groups and campaigns experience makes me a seasoned veteran to be sure. Been trying to get something going through these forums but so far the experience here has been less than satisfactory. Kind of odd so far to be honest with you. Man, I just want to run games for mature but fun loving people and for the players to have a good time. I have endless hours of experience behind the screen (various genres but mostly DnD), but don't feel people should pay to play games unless its convention registration or something. I'm giving it up for free, folks. My style varies from campaign to campaign; high fantasy, pulp fantasy, dungeon punk, grimdark...it really depends. A campaign might start in one style and end in another.  Not overly politically correct or offended easily, but anybody from any belief, persuasion, or walk of life can feel comfortable in my games. I just want to set a scene and let player characters romper around in it. I like action and role play mostly balanced (depends a lot on the players). I like to offer hooks and options and let players tell the story. I love player characters and watching them interact with my setting and situations. Roll20 for action and Discord for audio. Currently Friday and Saturday nights are my available days. Usually prefer 7PM ish but am open to tweak that.  Feel free to message me, but please only if you are serious; I've spent more fruitless, wasted hours here the last few weeks trying to get something going than I care to think about! But that said feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like to know more.  Cheers!
I would like to play a sorcerer if you open a game on Saturday nights.  PST
I'm looking to join a game.  Saturday nights are great for me.  Dad here, so I'd be available after the kids go to bed.  I'll send you a message as well.
Is this 5e?
Hi, I'm interested to join your game
Hi.  I sent you a DM, but it was eaten by the dreaded "Not Authorized to Post" bug.  Are you still looking for players?  I'm open to playing any class. If you are, I can try sending another message, since posting in the forums apparently can fix the bug.
Hey Kevin, I'm Keira, a 46 year old female player who's been playing D&D and other gaming systems off and on since I was 17. I've been playing 5e for about 2 years right now and I really like it overall. It's a good gateway for people new to D&D. I, too, am looking for a fun group of mature people that communicates on more than just game night - i.e. text RP, general chat in Discord, hanging out to chat in Discord, whatever. I've been in a few groups where the people just show up 5 minutes before game time, do the minimum, and then disappear until the next session. I want more out of my gaming group than that - hope that makes sense.  I'm good for Friday or Saturday nights - Central Time Zone is where I'm at. You can expect me to show up on time to get my game on, work towards party cohesion, try to avoid in-party drama, and generally have a good time with other people pretending to live in a world of magic and adventure. I'm pretty accepting and inclusive towards just about everyone. I care most about everyone at the table having a good experience. I'm TeaMistress#5893 on Discord and would really love to hear from you.
I am interested as well
Just a bump here as its been awhile. I have also been musing on games of my childhood using old D&D; sometimes back in the day instead of my growing homebrew world I would use Judges Guild's (look them up) gonzo and gritty Wilderlands of High Fantasy setting. While my own long time homebrew world has more Tolkien influences, Judges Guild stuff has more in common with old pulp fantasy; Conan, Fafhred and Gray Mouser, and Elric. I'm open to games in either setting. Rather than have to corral single players, I'd kind of like if a ready made group of 4-5 people are looking for anything like this, as I just am tired of doing new group searching/legwork. But even so if you aren't part of a group chime in if this sounds interesting to you so I can get an idea if these forums are still a place to drum up interest. Cheers!
Hey, very interested here. I'm 36 and a mature player looking for a long-term game. I'm a reliable player with good table etiquette. I think I'd fit the kind of group your wanting to build. I like the old school aesthetics and have played 5e for 9months. I have availability on both Friday and Saturday.
What level would you be starting the party at?
Hey, I'm an adult (feel like I'm 25 but much closer to 40) and it looks like I should reliably be able to manage attending what would be your Friday evenings. I haven't really played since 3rd Edition, when I played by post online. I appreciate both Grognard neckbeard style and all the millennial exotica... but damn if I don't hope for a little bit of immersion into the fantasy world. I quite appreciate a game where I can invest in the situation and my character's place in it but really, so long as people get along and can interact, and somebody can be patient enough to help me through the tech and the medium, I'm pretty chill about everything and I try to be respectful. Old pulp fantasy sounds like a breath of fresh air or the first mead drank after returning from the borderlands... I love playing warlocks mostly because of the process of negotiating and interacting with the pacts and patrons.
I wouldnt mind playing or even help creating and Dming as well
Hey man, I would be interested in playing. 36-year-old male. Pretty experienced with 5e. Let me know if there are available slots or something. Thanks

I might be interested, and especially Saturday has a fair bit of availability.  As for me, I'm age 49 (that's 29 with two decades of extra experience), non-binary for where that matters, and most of the time a storyteller ("GM"), myself. Being a player in a group that's, say, age 25+ would be swell, although we'll still need to figure out who are all compatible. I strongly prefer groups with both male and female identifying folks in it, since solely one or the other tends to make me feel in a bit of an echo chamber. Having that mix of expression and "energy" gives a bit of welcome frisson to the RP, I find. In-game, my preferences lean towards the low-frequency combats and high-volume RP. I'm not unaware of mechanics, but prefer to be motivated by my characters' outlook first and foremost, and considering how this might impact the situation on hand second. I'd love to hear back from you, and we can look at what you'd like from a campaign afterwards. If it helps, I can certainly share you how I got my own rolling here on Roll20. Regards, Pat
