I am a creator(not yet on marketplace), looking for advice, ideas, perhaps collaboration.

I am fairly new to Roll20. I have been a member since June of last year and currently have 171 hours played on this platform. As a player I am having a great time and am currently part of a fantastic group. Thank you roll20! As a DM I am constantly looking for maps, on and offline, I am constantly disappointed in the flat 2 dimensional renderings, even though the content can be quite fantastic. Also the maps are already complete and purpose built, which doesn't always line up with my goals or ideas. So i have taken it upon myself to become a creator of what I want and hopefully of what others desire. I have noticed that there isn't a forum for the sharing of prospective artwork, maps, etc, unless you are already a Roll20 marketplace creator. With that restriction in place I can not post pictures, share my maps or creations for feedback prior to going through the steps to become a creator here. What I offer or create is high quality multi-dimensional maps, scenery and views , be it, vendor buildings(taverns, blacksmiths, etc), wilderness, caves, dungeons, etc. I have an idea before I try my hand at becoming a Roll20 marketplace creator. My idea is this:  If you have a desire for your own original small map, encounter that you would like to see rendered and brought to life visually, you could send me a PM with your own hand drawn representation and all the written details concerning the environment, encounter and how you would like it to appear. Then just maybe, I could bring that idea to fruition. If I create this for you, it is yours to use freely though non commercially, and I get to use it how I see fit. I get a free idea, you get a free map. For collaboration: If you are a creator yourself, perhaps you would like to have some of your own maps or assets upgraded, I will attempt it if I can, though some software limitations may prevent an absolutely true conversion. If you are a writer, a spinner of tales and are looking to publish a module but lack the equipment or ability to make an engaging visual scene, then perhaps we could collaborate and come to an agreement for mutual benefit. Ideas and advice? I see many creators offering map packs with piece meal segments, items, etc where one has to arrange the parts and pieces and create their own map. Very utilitarian, effective, though time consuming. I would like to create rooms, shops, environments, finished products.  My maps will have depth, visual angles, interiors, in some cases exteriors. I can produce night and day scenes, show some weather. I'd like to know if there is much of a calling for this?  Those of you who PM me may be given a link to my discord where I can show samples of what I can do. I'm looking forward to hearing from creators and any other interested parties, feedback is most welcome. Thank you!

My only advice is this: don't burn yourself out. Which is likely to happen if you over commit by offering too much for free or by offering to put too much in a pack.

You can also get feedback (and post art) on the Roll20 subreddit, or the associated Discord.

I'm interested, can you speak (if not able to link to an illustrative example pic) more about the "multi-diminsional views" and the non-flat? Do you mean that you will create perspective-art scenes, like Isometric or Diorama style?   Or, did you mean top-down maps but just with more shadows, pop, depth? If this is perspective-art, diorama-like scenes, I would be keenly interested, as that style is still currently quite rare in Roll20 marketplace.  Isometric is also fairly rare.

Thank you for your replies. Gold I did try to message you with a discord link so you could view some samples I have there. When I try to send to you, it says I'm unauthorized to post. Send me a private message. What I mean by multi-dimensional is that I use licensed software to construct dynamic virtual environments. I can take top down snaps for the purpose of battlemaps. I can control the camera and take pictures form various angles, creating perspective and depth for more immersion. In the software torches actually appear to burn, water runs, I can create different lighting effects, weather, add fog and other effects, That actually translate quite well. Creates much more vibrant display. Think video game stills or captures.

I don't know why? My private message are OPEN on roll20 and discord. I'll send you a Roll20 PM, you should be able to reply to that

There sure is, as my popular Instant Dungeon Crawl has shown me over the past four years that there is a lot of such interest.  Good luck with your endeavors! I wish you much success.
