Hey all! I'm looking for a dedicated group of 3-6 players to run through the Curse of Strahd adventure module! New and experienced players welcome, I have DMed for all new groups several times in past so wouldn't be an issue. CoS can be tough for anyone including experienced players , but it teaches anyone to play smart, which helps in any other campaign you play. We would use Roll20 for VTT, discord for voice and chat, and DnD Beyond for character sheets. I have all of Tasha's, Xanathar's, Volo's character creation options that you would gain access too. I also ask my players to use Chrome and download the free Chrome Extension Beyond 20, which links up character sheet on DnD Beyond to Roll20. All links for that will be provided. No charge for Session Zero, where we will discuss characters and general themes/expectations for Curse of Strahd specifically. First charge will be after Session 1, and after any Session beyond that. Charge covers expense of materials on DnD beyond you gain access to, as well as module and time spent in prep! Charge will be done through PayPal. I am passionate about the campaign as one of my favorites, and am excited about sharing with all of you! Curse of Strahd is a gothic horror campaign, and as such I request applicants be 18+. Anyone 18+ welcome, and will make sure any sort of person feels included regardless of age, gender, or sexual orientation. The material and setting can be a little dark and certainly spooky, but the lore and characters are some of the most rich and interesting ones published for 5e to date in my opinion. More in depth overview of the theme will be done through a Free Session Zero, where you can decide if the campaign is the right fit for you at no charge! We will be using 5e rules, and any official sourcebook material is allowed (which you will gain access to through DnD Beyond if you don't already own). No homebrew/Unearthed Arcana. 3-4 hour sessions once per week. Ask that you have a quality microphone so we can all hear each other. A little about me as a DM, I have been playing 5e for about 3/4 years, and enjoy the creative aspect and fantasy of. I have always been interested in fantasy, and horror as well which lends itself well to this campaign. Big fan of classics like Bram Stoker's Dracula and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, as well as newer gothic horror like Interview with the Vampire and Let the Right One In. I think my passion for the theme helps up the quality of DMing for CoS. I am actually a pretty goofy guy, which helps balance out the darkness of campaign. I try to stick to the theme and horror aspects, but am not afraid to laugh and get a little lighter as well. I appreciate all sorts of characters, and think this campaign specifically lets you try out some concepts that don't work as well in more traditional campaigns. The coward who is normally the "weak link" of party becomes the voice of reason in CoS, which can lead to some interesting party dynamics. I love roleplay, and try to give all my characters distinctive voices (even if Strahd comes out sounding like Count Von Count from Sesame Street). I typically employ what I call the "Don't shoot yourself in the foot." rule for character creation. In short, if your character concept involves for any reason traits that would mean breaking off from the party, or actively standing in way of someone else in party (an example being a Barbarian who despises magic not letting the Sorcerer cast any spells), then please rewrite it! However conflict within party is fine, as long as every player agrees on being ok with. I am fine with baggage and "edgy" characters, but if your character has baggage they are bringing to table I ask that you be fine with opening it at some point. It is a social game, so if you don't talk to us about, we wont know anything about. This helps shy away from brooding in dark corner characters, which are never as interesting as a brooding dark character that can explain and show why they are brooding and dark to rest of party. I appreciate interesting characters who grow through the campaign, and who take an active interest in their other party members! I reward smart play, creative ideas, and working together. We will be starting at level 1 and use milestone leveling, as I think that helps really get to know each ability as it comes. If you're interested in applying, Reply to this topic with one or two quick character concepts, or if you don't have any yet what you're looking for from a campaign. Feel free to include any other info you think would be relevant. Excited to hear from you all! This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of 5$/session. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements.
