Premise The world of Gralmond is on the brink of disaster following the sudden appearance of the Dark Water. Horrible ghosts rise from the black depths, the very sight of which is enough to age a man decades in an instant! Sailors leave as hardy young lads only to return tired old men. If they return at all. Storms and rain clouds carry The Dark inland so that nowhere is safe. In the wake of these undeadly rains a secondary horror reveals itself as the bodies of the dead become gateways to Hell. Fiery denizens once caged behind the borderwall of reality now find free passage to the surface world. Civilization itself has unraveled, once great communities brought low by isolation, desolation, and desperation. But hope dawns! The ogre mage, Chronal, has dreams of a new society. Over the past decade he has laid the foundation of the Chronal Network; a series of Links that will allow the exchange of goods and information between the isolated. All that remains now is the physical act of bringing the Linkages to the communities which need them. The call has gone out for a new breed of adventurer! Hardy men and women who will brave the troubled seas, cut through the desolation, and bring the hope of civilization back to Gralmond. Can you help Chronal’s dream become a reality? Do you have what it takes to become a Linker? Setting Gralmond can be described as ‘generic fantasy’. Assume a starting point similar to Forgotten Realms, The Witcher, or Lord of the Rings. It is not my style to birth an elaborate, fully realized world right out the gate. Instead I prefer to lay a foundation, highlight key concepts, and let the rest develop over the course of the Campaign. The key concepts are described in the Campaign Overview linked below. I do want to highlight that this is not a 'grimdark' campaign, despite how it might seem with the Dark and demons. I intend the general tone to be that of hope and progress. Game Notes A few points about the game that could be a deal maker or breaker: 1) Ability Scores will be rolled randomly, down the line, using 3d6 reroll 1s. This means unmodified abilities will be in the 6-18 range. 2) All characters begin with a free feat. 3) I will not be using battlemaps. This will be theater of the mind with sketches as needed. The key concepts of the setting, maps, character creation guidelines, and general game notes are all available in the Chronal Link Campaign Overview I write a brief summary of each session as a way of keeping track of how many weeks it has been. If this also helps you decide whether this is the right campaign for you that is great: Chronal Link - Adventure Log Session Info Time: Weekly, Thursday nights, 7pm-10pm US Eastern. Audio: Discord. A microphone is required. Video: Discord. A webcam is required. System: Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition. Attendance: Take a moment to consider whether you can commit to 3 hours every Thursday night without regular conflicts. If you're interested in joining please post in the LFG forum (or send me a PM). Include what it is you bring to the table and why this game specifically interests you. I don't pick players based on character ideas so you do not need to post a character. But, if you want to talk about previous characters or ideas about this game go for it. I intentionally leave what to put in the opening message vague so as to avoid boilerplate cookie-cutter answers. While the listing is active I'll make an effort to respond to any interest.
