Translucent Tokens

I'm having a problem where, when I drag a new token into the tabletop, it is partly translucent.  I'm on the Token Layer, I drag a token from either my library or the Creatures and Monsters folder from my journal, and I can see the background through it.  There does not seem to be any difference between tokens I've created or ones that come with the content I've purchased - it happens to tokens of both types.

The really weird thing is, I have a few tokens this isn't happening to.  Two custom-made tokens I use for PCs.  Other custom PC tokens are still coming out translucent.  I find it all especially strange as everything I search for indicates there's no control for token opacity.

Update: It also only seems to be happening on certain maps.

Hello Alarin612.

Please see this thread:

Hope this helps.  :-)

I will give it a shot.  Thank you, sir.

Okay, that helps, mostly.  It seems to only be in effect when the map is in Dynamic Lighting mode with Explorer Mode on.  With Dynamic Lighting off, or with Dynamic Lighting on but Explorer Mode off, this problem doesn't occur.

EDIT: Daylight mode seems to play a factor.  The problem only seems to occur when I have all three - Dynamic Lighting, Explorer Mode, and Daylight Mode - activated.  Dynamic Lighting and either Daylight Mode or Explorer Mode doesn't replicate the issue.  Still experimenting.

I used the remedy you suggest - listing the Dungeon Master as someone who can control the token - and that worked for the Heroes' custom tokens.  They were now fully opaque no matter what the lighting settings are.  However, other custom and content-provided NPC tokens are still a problem.  For example, I have a bunch just sitting in my library with no character assigned; thus, there's no character-edit menu I can use to assign myself as a controller.  As for NPC tokens, I picked one I was getting this trouble with, opened the Character panel, went to Edit, and put "Dungeon Master" and "All Players" in the "journal" field.  Then I put "Dungeon Master" in the control field.  This setup worked fine for the PCs' custom tokens, but had no effect on these.

I am able to drag any NPC token to the VTT and add control as the DM to that token or character and have it pop opaque. Granted, all my maps feature UDL. Some have daylight mode, some do not. Depends on whether it's day.  :-) Glad this is helping.

Edit: When dynamic lighting is off, it seems all tokens are under the GM layer, no matter who is added to the controlled by settings.
