More tokens for different settings

This has probably been said before, but I'd really love to see some tokens for non-fantasy settings, and maybe some attempts done to "sort" the tokens. When I do a search for "soldier" for instance, at least a dozen irrelevant pictures appear. Maybe the latter could be done using some sort of tagging system? Maybe users can be allowed to "remove a tag" from a specific token, causing it to, at least for themselves, not to appear when searching for that specifically anymore. My main point here though, is that I'd like to see some more sci-fi and modern tokens.

Many of the artists that contribute and market tokens frequent the message boards. You might consider posting in General something along the lines of [Art Request] Modern Tokens . I know someone was posting in there a few weeks ago with a similar request and an artist kindly stepped in and made him some. Of course, they are under no compulsion to do so, but they are quite friendly people.

That's all in the hands of the contributing artists. Essentially whenever an artist comes up with an idea and whips up a few dozen pieces, they contact the Devs, and inform them that they have a pack ready to go, along with a cover picture and a summary. Within the next few hours or days, the Devs respond and unlock a pack for the artist to upload their work to. The content is entirely in the hands of artists, as well as the tagging. I generally try to include 3-4 tags for each piece, but sometimes I forget to include tags. My recommendation is to go through the Marketplace and find an artist that has a style you like, contact them and see if they're willing to create what you're looking for.

Modern tokens are straightforward enough, but I do have a hard time with Sci-Fi content (I'm working on a pack right now in fact). On the one hand it's a big genre, but on the other it's often quite specific. Whereas orcs and dwarves are staple in the fantasy market, Sci-Fi is less universal. Star Wars is different from Firefly in big ways. They both differ from Mechwarrior by a fair amount too. Most alien species are pretty well defined, so although you can make your own they won't be anything like what the Star Trek RPG fans wanted. The IP on all of these things is pretty hard to navigate and often ends up with content that only a small fraction of the Sci-Fi players want anyway. But you can always flog a halfling to someone!

For now, I was thinking more along the lines of "more varied tokens in regards to setting in general". On the other hand, does anyone know how I might start uploading my own tokens? Because frankly, I'm not half bad with a pencil myself, and I might be able to make what I'm looking for on my own.

Sure! Once you've made some graphics, or gotten some together that you like you have several options. Simplest, you can just drag them straight onto the map. Better, you can add them to your personal library, see this wiki entry for a video that might help: <a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/Art_Library" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/Art_Library</a> Click Marketplace in the header Click Your Library in the Marketplace header (or click here ) Click Upload in the upper right corner Either Drag'n'Drop your art on the box, or click the ' Choose a file... ' button Once an image is uploaded, you can go back to the Your Library page and add tags Any tags you put on it will allow you to find it in the Art Library tab of the Roll20 table top (things from your library will show up first under the title " From Your Library ") Then you can just drag them into the map Hope that helps!

If you're looking for content that doesn't yet exist, there's a fair chance others are too! Why not consider becoming a content creator and sell those assets that you're creating on the Marketplace? <a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/Creating_Marketplace_Asset" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/Creating_Marketplace_Asset</a>... Roll20 could always use more good artists churning out content, because the more of there are the better the chance that we'll produce that exact thing someone has been looking for. And that's pretty awesome. ...Also helps pay the subscription :)
