Ch. 60: Back to Wave Echo Cave to Clear It Out!

Dungeon Master (GM): Hello Everybody!   Rolo: hi dm   Sirus: Once, a d20 attack roll is guaranteed to be a 10 + modifiers Can happen once per day.   Rolo: nice   Sirus: Clockwork Amulet Marcuria Violezi Other: Clockwork Amulet This copper amulet contains tiny interlocking gears and is powered by magic from Mechanus, a plane of clockwork predictability. A creature that puts an ear to the amulet can hear faint ticking and whirring noises coming from within. When you make an attack roll while wearing the amulet, you can forgo rolling the d20 to get a 10 on the die. Once used, this property can't be used again until the next dawn.   Rolo: ty   Sirus: Also DM, mind if Roqar has the Boots of Magical Striding from the loot list?   Dungeon Master (GM): sure she can have them   Sirus: Sweet. I take it you have no clue if Buddy is gonna show up today, DM?   Dungeon Master (GM): yea or bahrren for that matter   Sirus: Mmh. Ok. I think I might run the levelup for him, and not take the spells. When Buddy does show up again, he can handle adding new spells.   Rolo: brb   Marcuria Violezi: Roll for HP Roll 1: 3   Sirus: Ouch...   Roqar: Maybe take Average?   Marcuria Violezi: Average for HP Average: 5   Juan Denero: Average for HP Average: 5   Sirus: With GM's permission only. For the obvious reason DM, hit dice roll came up 3. Permission to take average instead?   Dungeon Master (GM): I think buddy will be in, in 20 minutes. He just told me a cousin passed away, due to a crash by a drunk driver.   Sirus: : x Another lost loved one?   Dungeon Master (GM): He himself was involved in a crash with one, like last year.   Sirus: Damnit. Ok if he'll be here in 20 then I guess i'll just let it go.   Rolo: so sorry   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, where is the party going to be traveling to today?   Sirus: Back to Wave Echo Cave. Gotta polish off the Flameskull for good and probably also deal with Nezznar and whoever's left.   Roqar: Avoiding Umbrage Hill like the plague   Dia Xiloscient: What's there?   Dungeon Master (GM): I will let Roqar answer that   Roqar: Midwife who refuses to move to Phandalin despite us coming by fighting off monsters to save her, F that stubborn Beatch!!   Rolo: lol   Roqar: Been there 3x so far I'm done with her   Sirus: Mmh, what about Farren's levelup then? If we don't know whether Drake is gonna show or not...   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so no other suggestions? Just go back to the mine for now?   Sirus: More or less. Avery heads to the inn to get the feather needed for Lesser Restoration, they have their rest, their fun, and then they are heading back for WEC   Rolo: we got a full rest?   Marcuria Violezi: Yeah, they did pretty sure.   Dungeon Master (GM): of course you will get a full rest   Sirus: ack ooc plz   Dia Xiloscient: (I'm good with going back to the mines. Sounded like this Black Spider was a menace that should be put down.)   Dungeon Master (GM): I guess we leave Farren and Juan at level 4 for now   Sirus: ...you sure? It shouldn't be too hard to run Farren's. Since there's no spells to pick out   Dungeon Master (GM): yea but he might want to roll for the new hit points himself   Sirus: Alright, alright. Hopefully they show up soon.   Rolo: i let the party know my 2 new spells fireball and counter spell   Sirus: Ok I am ready to start I think. But first, in the name of cashing in on a joke
ONE ERP SESSION LATER   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so before you all set off, Gundren, Nudro and Sildar will be staying behind in order to put together a group of dwarfs for setting up Wave Echo cave for mining again.   Roqar: As long as they wait for us to clean it first   Sirus: clearing out the mine. Yeah that means that Ochre Jelly probably has to go too...   Roqar: That Fireball should be a big help there   Rolo: yep with a evil grin   Dungeon Master (GM): any interaction here in Phadalin before I switch to the Mine map? (To GM)rolling d6( 2 ) = 2   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 4 ) = 4   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 2 ) = 2   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 2 ) = 2   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Shoots Roqar a couple of sideways glances before clearing her throat and saying, "If there's nothing else, we should probably get going."   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Nods and pockets a small feather from the inn.   Roqar: Roqar stops by the shrine to pay homage before leaving ask Tymora for her blessing   Dia Xiloscient: Dia visits When, her mentor, and updates him on the adventure before heading back out.   Roqar the Elf Rogue Smiles at Marcy "Yes, lets get going"   Sirus: Marcy spawns in the wall. "Yes, this is fine." :P   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, you do reach the mine without any troublesome encounters on the way back here.   Dia Xiloscient: Does anyone see Dia's token?   Sirus: I think Dia is missing yeah. thicc token   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Alright, so. What's left? Let's take a tally."   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "Well. There is that jelly monster, I believe. Then there is the flaming skull. And, of course, lastly, there is still the problem of the drow and their friends, who still want this cave to themselves. That's just the ones left we know about for sure."   Dia Xiloscient the Elf Wizard Says: "Hey, Rolo, you Drow can cast Faerie Fire, right? I haven't seen the spell myself, but I hear it's helpful against invisible enemies. Maybe you could use it when we ambush Nezznar?"   Dia Xiloscient the Elf Wizard Glances at Roll then turns to Marcy "The Drow with the spiders unless he left?"   Rolo the Drow Elf Wizard Says: “ Yep”   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "He'll definitely be back. He wanted this cave to himself. Might already be back."   Heads for the passages, continuing, "Drow and surface-light usually don't mix too well."   Rolo: true   Sirus: Ok so how we doing this?   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, you have about 3 locations you have not explored at all, plus the ochre jelly area and Flameskull. I should note the passages are 6 ft in height thoughout the caves.   Sirus: I was thinking that actually we could start with putting down the Ochre Jelly first.   Roqar: Go North work South?   Sirus: Ochre Jelly, then start exploring, starting with here?   Roqar: Ah yes with Fireball   Sirus: yes/no?   Roqar: Jelly then North?   Rolo: sure   Sirus: I would say jelly, then the room to the east we haven't explored, then north   Dia Xiloscient: Looks like 2 rooms we haven't explored. So those after jelly?   Sirus: But sure we can start with jelli   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Makes her way down the passage to the north, motioning for the others to follow.   Dungeon Master (GM): i just pinged the other unexplored location   Sirus: Right.
Dia Xiloscient: Can I see the jelly from here?   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Not the best spot for a scrap. All tight corridors."   Dungeon Master (GM): it would be around the corner so no   Dia Xiloscient: Hmm. Was thinking a ranged attack to lure it out here where we can surround it.   Rolo: maybe cast minor illusiun to lore it out   Sirus: Yeah that's a good idea But maybe we should lure it here Where there's cover and flanking angles and such   Dia Xiloscient: Ok. We can move back there once it rounds the corner.   Sirus: Don't like the idea of a mandatory narrow straight hallway fight. Yeah.   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Rolo...get that stupid jelly's attention. We'll lure it around the corner and bludgeon it into paste."   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so are we going with the illusion to lure it out?   Sirus: yeah. Also can we have an insight check out of Avery to recall the trait the Ochre Jelly has about splitting?   Dia Xiloscient: I cast minor illusion to make a puppy near the corner in front of the jelly.   Rolo: sure   Roqar: Maybe use bait? I can run faster now?   Sirus: DM, can avery insight check on Ochre Jelly splitting?   Dungeon Master (GM): if you have the boots, Gundren would let you use them   Sirus: DM, permission to insight check on Ochre Jelly split?   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, i guess   Marcuria Violezi: 10 | 9 INSIGHT  (4) Avery   Sirus: hiss that is quite low.   Dungeon Master (GM): you are trying to see if Avery knows about the nature of ochre jelly being able to split right?   Sirus: Yeah, if struck with slashing or lightning damage. Actually is is immune to that kek So maybe that too   Rolo: do i see the monster?   Dungeon Master (GM): Avery would not know   Sirus: Ok. Maybe I will have Marcy try too.   Marcuria Violezi: 12 | 11 INSIGHT  (0) Marcuria Violezi   Sirus: Mmh.   Dungeon Master (GM): not from where you are now Rolo, looks like someone needs to peer around the corner or just cast the illusion in the hallway and hope the thing sees it   Rolo: k   Dia Xiloscient: I already cast the illusion of a puppy. Did it react?   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, Marcuria would not know either   Sirus: Aye carumba. Well I guess we'll find out real fast the hard way.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, it would it tries to slam the puppy   Sirus: slime is dum   Roqar: Would it be Insight to know how far back from a Fireball you should be?   Rolo: minum 20ft   Dungeon Master (GM): the caster would know as the info would be written in the spell.   Sirus: Rolo could chuck a fireball down there right now and it'd be fine.   Rolo: k fireball   Sirus: Dia might get scorched eyebrows but otherwise fine   Rolo: dc14 dex st.   Dungeon Master (GM): remember each square here is 10 ft   Sirus: Yep, am aware. Seems that Rolo wants to surprise the Jelly with a fireball. While it slams the illusion   Rolo: yep   Dungeon Master (GM): Dia is far enough back that all she will feel is the heat radiation you can cast it to see how much damage   Rolo: rolling 8d6( 2+3+5+ 6 + 1 +3+4+4 ) = 28   Sirus: yooooo BEEG damage.
(To GM): Dexterity Ochre Jelly Ability:  9  |  4   Rolo: hows it look   Roqar: DC 14 DEX   Dungeon Master (GM): I rolled a 9 on the save it whispered   Sirus: So he fucking eats 28 damage it looks like.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok it now looks like a smoldering mass of goo, however it is still moving!   Sirus: Is Jelly surprised?   Dungeon Master (GM): it sure was   Sirus: Also probably time to roll init and such But jelly is surprised so it's turn gets skipped, if I recall   Rolo: Rolo, the elf Wizard, gets ready to make an attack move! I pruned up real nice."   Smirks a bit as the rage wears off, her skin softening back to normal.   Dungeon Master (GM): Old stone bunks in orderly rows line the walls of this chamber, and a corroded iron brazier full of old coals stands near the middle of the room. The bones of a half dozen dwarves and orcs lie strewn about, clad in scraps of armor.   Sirus: Searching for anything worthwhile?   Dungeon Master (GM): nothing of value is found upon the ghouls   Sirus: How about amongst the bones and armor scraps Or the bunks   Dungeon Master (GM): a casual search of the room reveals nothing of value left here   Marcuria Violezi: 16 | 3 INVESTIGATION  (2) Marcuria Violezi   Sirus: Detailed search   Dia Xiloscient: 26 | 21 INVESTIGATION  (7) Dia Xiloscient   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, nothing more turns up for Marcuria and Dia   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Nothing. Well, they get their bunk quarters back now at least. Once they clean up the gods-damned stench."   Roqar the Elf Rogue Opens South Door   Sirus: Question DM, how long is 10 minutes outside of combat? Because Shield of Faith is gonna remain up on Marcy for a bit longer, still over 9 minutes left   Rolo: do uwant to take a short rest here   Sirus: Nah we are good. None of the party members are hurt.   Dia Xiloscient: Maybe we can check out the small unexplored area to the east in 10 minutes?   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so your actions determine the length of time so figure 10 minutes passes for each 10 ft of area you search or 300 ft you move at exploring speed   Sirus: Ah ok so it already passed while Marcy was searching. Fair enough. Ok yeah next stop is over here I guess.   Dungeon Master (GM): alright   Sirus: brb quick I gotta go heat up lunch   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Rolo: close doors behind me   Roqar: Roqar opens South Door   Dungeon Master (GM): The eastern wall of this chamber has collapsed into a mass of rubble. To the north, a door stands ajar, leading to a good-sized storeroom. Dusty kegs are tucked neatly against the walls, all of them cracked and split open from age. ok, the south door to the bunk room is open now   Rolo: sorry thought u were out already   Dungeon Master (GM): gosh that description reveals too much too soon, sigh   Roqar: Search the keg room   Dungeon Master (GM): alright   Marcuria Violezi: 9 | 14 Thieves' Tools  (6) Marcuria Violezi   Roqar: 6 | 3 INVESTIGATION  (0) Roqar   Sirus: bad attempt to probe door   Dungeon Master (GM): the door does look solid however   Dia Xiloscient: (door was already open)   Dungeon Master (GM): what were you investigating exactly Roqar?
Sirus: Oh. Ouch. Nevermind then.   Roqar: was just searching the room   Sirus: Marcy will walk into the keg room, although trying to look around for traps   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, nothing of value is to be found have a look in a keg or two?   Sirus: No traps in room?   Roqar: sure   Sirus: If so then yeah.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, when one is opened it is seen that the contents have long dried out leaving a thin moldy residue inside   Sirus: What exactly are the contents?   Roqar: not touching it   Dungeon Master (GM): wisdom check on that   Marcuria Violezi: 5 | 12 PERCEPTION  (3) Marcuria Violezi   Dungeon Master (GM): Marcuria has no idea   Sirus: Slime is stored in this barrel.   Roqar: 15 | 11 WISDOM  (-1) Roqar   Sirus: KEK What even are these rolls   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, Roqar believes it is either wine, mead or ale residue   Roqar: such a waste   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Yup...."   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, where to now?   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Lets keep going"   Sirus: Third unexplored area is...?   Rolo: do they seem flamable   Sirus: This right?   Dungeon Master (GM): you have one unexplored area to the north, the flameskull or even Mormesk well, it's rotting wood so yes it's flammable   Rolo: ty   Dia Xiloscient: Didn't we defeat the flameskull when we teamed up with Nezznar?   Sirus: Flameskulls revive.   Rolo: yes   Sirus: If not given holy water The Flameskull has definitely come back therefore   Dungeon Master (GM): as Sirus said they revive   Sirus: And they know this in-game as Marcy passed an Insight. So yes it's back and they know it's back   Roqar: We have Holy Tymora Water   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Come on. Let's go see if Mormesk is still holding up alright. It just occurred to me....those dwarves want to get back to work in here. Good chance that could be trouble..."   Says: "Not that i'm a big fan of undead wraiths, but this one is actually alright, far as they go. Would hate to think we're kinda stabbing him in the back."   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "They will just have to let him be"   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "We'll have to talk something out with the dwarves. They need to leave him and the Spellforge be."   Sirus: Erm the bugbears should be gone I think? I think you still have old tokens up, DM.   Dungeon Master (GM): oh yea ok   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Steps into Mormesk's home and calls out for him.   Dungeon Master (GM): Mormesk's ghostly figure rises up from the floor.   Mormesk the Wraith Says: "Yes? Oh, it is you. What do you want?" by the way the dead bugbear bodies still litter the floor here. So the stench of death is very heavy here!   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Ah. Good, still here. Just dropping by to make sure things hadn't gotten worse. Strangely enough, i'm...actually glad you're still here. Thanks for the help with those Bugbears. That could've gotten ugly."
Marcuria the Human Barbarian Tries to stomach the awful stench of death in the air.   Rolo: are there more bug bear bodies than when we left?   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so do we go elsewhere or press an attack on the wraith? with the awful stench you have to deal with it while fighting   Sirus: Marcy is gonna chat briefly with the wraith and then we are gonna leave him be Party is frens with this wraith   Dungeon Master (GM): 5 bodies in all i'm sure there are bugs crawling all over them now.   Rolo: i think we counted 8 total 4 dead for sure   Dia Xiloscient: Just want to make sure he expects the dwarves, so no trouble will happen when they start working near his home.   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "...You, and that Spellforge. What's the connection, if I might ask?"   Dungeon Master (GM): that's 5 in or just outside this room   Dia Xiloscient the Elf Wizard stands back, avoiding the stench   Rolo: so 3 left ty   Sirus: I think we can avoid murderhoboing this wraith if we play our cards right.   Rolo: i tell the party how many are left any dead spiders?   Mormesk the Wraith Says: "The spellforge was used to bind magics to whatever item one placed inside of it."   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "Three...hm..."   Dungeon Master (GM): no dead spiders around   Roqar: Better that then trying to find out what it takes to kill him   Rolo: ty   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Kinda worked that out myself. Did a number on my gauntlets, in the good way. Mormesk, what about you?....I get the feeling you must have had some sort of connection though to this thing, when you were still alive, that is."   Says: "Not much other reason why you'd want that Observer gone."   Mormesk the Wraith Says: "Yes, I was in charge of doing the task of binding the asked for magic to an item that the dwarves would forge."   Roqar: (Roqar is at a point she gets creeped out by Undead friendly or not Had enough)   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "...! The dwarves....of course.......I see. You know, the Dwarves are planning to come back in here and get back to work, once we finish clearing it out."   Says: "We could probably talk to them on your behalf. Make sure they don't freak out or...start messing with your stuff."   Mormesk the Wraith Says: "I was not aware no. Good that they return but still my treasures here are mine alone"   Rolo: brb bathroom   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Yes. Right. Well, you know how dwarves can be about treasure....that's what I mean. Just want you to be aware. We'll talk to them when we're done here, make sure they don't try to take any of your stuff, and all that."   Mormesk the Wraith Says: "Good, good, I am fine with that."   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "A-awesome. We better get going then, if we're gonna finish clearing this place out."   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Sure, Avery. In a moment. Just...want to add one last thing."   Looks over to Mormesk with a steady nod.   Dungeon Master (GM): Marcuria give me a constitution check   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "I....hope you find solace, some day. That you find an inner peace after all these years." 14 | 10 CONSTITUTION  (3) Marcuria Violezi   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, that's good enough, you don't lose your lunch   Sirus: cheers. Marcy is tuff gril   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, and the next stop is going to be?   Sirus: Marcy says her farewells to the wraith, having had her "comfy cozy corpses + wraith moment", and we move on up north   Dia Xiloscient: Looks like Flameskull is on our way to the last unexplored room   Sirus: Marcy hopes that Mormesk is able to actually be at peace someday
Yeah, time to get ready for Flameskull, Round 2.   Roqar: Ready the Silence spell hehe   Sirus: Actually What is the chance that we could lure the flameskull? Avery could ritual-cast Silence. And we can make a trap of sorts for the Flameskull.   Dia Xiloscient: Marcy and Roqar are super fast now. Maybe they could find the Flameskull, taunt it, then run through the silence zone   Sirus: That is true.   Dia Xiloscient: Maybe cast silence in this hallway?   Rolo: or minor ilusion   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "With some time, I could set up another silence spell like before."   Sirus: Ok so, plan is that Avery spends the time to ritual-cast a silence spell right here Marcy and Roqar run in, taunt the flameskull into chasing them It gets caught up in the SIlence bubble And then we destroy skull   Roqar: put the holy water on it   Dungeon Master (GM): still need to score a hit with the water   Sirus: How about if dead? If it's defeated, just pour the water on it afterwards walk up to the remains, and dump vial Should be able to do that without a check   Dungeon Master (GM): it like shattered into several pieces when you last fought it.   Sirus: ....Should have gone with Hold Person, aye carumba I imagine Marcy would get burned if she tried to grapple the skull   Dia Xiloscient: Rolo, don't you have Hold Person?   Rolo: yes   Dia Xiloscient: Though it says humanoid . . .   Dungeon Master (GM): that thing isn't exactly a person!   Sirus: DM, what would Marcy have to do to not get injured by grappling the flameskull? If she could grab it, she could just dump the holy water on the skull that way   Dungeon Master (GM): flame resistance spell?   Sirus: ..Not a con check? Damn.   Dia Xiloscient: I can try Hideous Laughter, which can make it fall prone. That might let you get up close to dump the water.   Sirus: It...can float? How does that work?   Dungeon Master (GM): no, if you are going to hug a flaming object if the flames don't burn you the heated metal will   Sirus: Would it just fall to the ground?   Dungeon Master (GM): it floats   Sirus: Right so Hideous Laughter does nothing Also it is immune to Charm stuff   Dia Xiloscient: It "becomes incapacitated". Up to DM whether that helps with you aiming at it.   Rolo: how did we defeat it last time   Roqar: Cast Silence lure it in Marcy grapples it Roqar pours the holy water?   Dia Xiloscient: . . . would it be immune to sleep?   Sirus: Undead are immune.   Dungeon Master (GM): yes   Sirus: Wait, would Radiant damage work? By chance? Or does it...nah probably not.   Dungeon Master (GM): it would be a magic effect so yea   Sirus: It'd permanently put him out? Yes or no?   Dungeon Master (GM): the water? yea   Sirus: No I meant radiant damage. Right.   Dungeon Master (GM): there may be more options but you need to find out via trial and error   Sirus: ...Is there seriously not any way we can avoid having to do a dex check? Ugh.   Dungeon Master (GM): yea, I would guess radiant is like magical in nature juan's magical mace has radiant damage   Dungeon Master (GM): Hello Bahrren!   Rolo: how about minor illusion a box to cover its eyes   Dia Xiloscient: Hey!   Rolo: so its in a box   Sirus: Likely will not work, Flameskull has pretty high Int and might just see through it. Rolo can try once we have it silenced tho Ok so how about this When the fight actually starts, Juan can take point. With holy water in hand Or
Sirus: Nonono Better idea Farren gets the holy water, 1 vial   Farren Nidanas: (Hello everyone   Sirus: He can throw dex to splash the skull   Farren Nidanas: (Yeah, I'm very late)   Sirus: just in time more like If that fails, Juan comes in with lightbringer mace   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, i see now that the skull would shatter so there would have been pieces left right after the last fight.   Sirus: Ok, then following that   Farren Nidanas: (Did we level up? from 4 to 5?)   Sirus: yes   Dungeon Master (GM): yes Farren we did   Sirus: Run charactermancer   Farren Nidanas: (Kk)   Sirus: You got level 5 shenanigans to do They can just break Flameskull DM, and pour the holy water on the pieces to permanently finish him off?   Dia Xiloscient: So then we don't have to risk throwing the water. We just beat it to death, then pour.   Dungeon Master (GM): seems like it, yes   Sirus: Alrighty.   Dungeon Master (GM): correct   Rolo: i could cast invisbilty on whos pouring holy water   Sirus: Might not be necessary   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Sirus: Nah we will kill flameskull and then pour holy water safely   Dungeon Master (GM): alright   Avery: That said, pass 10 minutes, and throw in the Silence field here   Sirus: oops, ooc forget   Dungeon Master (GM): so how do you initiate the attack? casting silence in the passage then lure? or just rush him and cast silence?   Sirus: Ritual cast silence in passage, and then lure   Dungeon Master (GM): ok ok   Sirus: Ritual cast, so no slot is consumed   Dungeon Master (GM): right and how do you lure him there?   Sirus: Marcy and Roqar will taunt him. They have 40 feet of speeds so it should be easy enough.   Dungeon Master (GM): position the tokens where you want to be when the flameskull comes though the passage   Sirus: Ok. When he comes through the passage after them, Marcy should be here... Once it comes through the passage they run back to the others Think that makes enough sense   Dungeon Master (GM): hold down the alt key to fine tune your position   Farren Nidanas: (ty)   Roqar: Roqar will pour the holy water Shes Of the Faith   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so Marcuria and Roqar make their presence known in the smelter room and sure enough the flameskull appears, however this time no zombie rises from the floor apparently because all the bodies are now too destroyed to reanimate   Rolo: what spell u want me to do?   Dungeon Master (GM): it sees that they retreat into the passage and it comes after them   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Hey, smoothbrain, COME AND GET SOME!"   Sirus: Aaaand Flameskull is silenced.   Dia Xiloscient: You have magic missle, right? That should be able to damage it.   Marcuria Violezi: Marcuria, the Human Barbarian, gets ready to make an attack move! Prompting us for no reason I see   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "The drow...are going to come back here. I'm sure of it."   Dia Xiloscient the Elf Wizard Says: "We haven't checked every room on this trip. Maybe Neznar is back in the room where we originally found him?"   Dungeon Master (GM): well just wanted to encourage   Sirus: lol if you encourage us like that, we expect there to be something if we get a high roll   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Yep. If there's any preparation you want to take before we do that though, now would be the time."   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, what's next for the party?   Sirus: We will go up to the room where Nezznar first was, and get ready to take him on again, presuming he came back.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Dia Xiloscient: I think our best hope for fighting an invisible enemy is to get him talking and them surprise him with Faerie Fire. If it hits, he'll be easy for every one to hit.   Farren Nidanas: (Back, sorry I was afk for a long bit)   Sirus: Sure. Rolo can try for that. Meanwhile...   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Rolo, go poke around. Make sure Nezznar's in there."   Rolo: k np   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, Rolo goes and peeks inside and sees: Six cracked marble pillars line the walls of this hall, at the north end of which stands a nine-foot-tall statue of a dwarf seated on a throne, a mighty stone warhammer across his lap. Large emeralds gleam in the statue’s eyes. The dust and debris covering the floor has been swept to one side, and a campsite of sorts now spreads in front of the statue. Half a dozen bedrolls and packs are neatly arranged around a rough-built fire pit. A wooden table stands on the west side of the room between two pillars. No sign of Nezznar or spiders or anything   Rolo: i tell the party   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Nothing?...Check the ceiling, Rolo. Spiders can climb."   Rolo: i do check   Dungeon Master (GM): ok nothing is crawling on the ceiling   Sirus: O...kay then we are just gonna wander the cave looking for Nezznar now I guess? There is one section of unexplorer but it's kinda just to join 2 rooms   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Hes on my growing list of those that need to be beaten"   Dungeon Master (GM): yea that area was not explored either   Sirus: We are kind of out of ideas where to go to find Nezznar now tho.   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Nothing. I guess he wouldn't try the same place twice. We just keep searching, then..."   Roqar: (OOC He lives to meet us another day thats the trope)   Rolo: i check this room   Dungeon Master (GM): I do remind you that the bugbears were searching for something when you first saw them down in the trench   Sirus: inb4 nezznar is in mormesk's closet   Marcuria Violezi: 7 | 17 INSIGHT  (0) Marcuria Violezi   Roqar: Go check the trench   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Sirus: Yeah ok. Examine trench.   Dia Xiloscient: Looking for signs in the trench 17 | 18 INVESTIGATION  (7) Dia Xiloscient   Marcuria Violezi: 22 | 12 INVESTIGATION  (2) Marcuria Violezi
Roqar: 13 | 20 PERCEPTION&nbsp; (2) Roqar &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): that area has no rope going up to it by the way &nbsp; Sirus: NAT 20 YEEEEE CRITICAL SUCCESS. &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): ok ok the 22 does find you something Marcuria is turning up heavy rocks here and there when she sees a the crushed skeleton of possibly a dwarf from the size of it. &nbsp; Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "...Huh?....Hey. Hey! I think I found something.....something dead.....urgh." &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): he is still wearing armor, helm and gauntlets &nbsp; Sirus: Intact enough to use? Are they magic? &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): yes the guantlets did not get crushed &nbsp; Sirus: Okay. What's the helm? That crushed? &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): you can't tell if they are magic from just looking &nbsp; Rolo: ritual cast detect magic? &nbsp; Sirus: Mmmh wishing we had Identify rn. &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): yes the helm is crushed like that was the point of first impact &nbsp; Rolo: i do &nbsp; Sirus: Rolo has identify We have the components for it I think? &nbsp; Rolo: ritual cast identify &nbsp; Sirus: So maybe we can run an Identify on the gauntlets? &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): ok you do that and you find out that the gauntlets are gauntlets of Orge power! &nbsp; Rolo: sweet &nbsp; Sirus: Ah. Neat. Only a mere +1 for me. &nbsp; Rolo: i share that with the party &nbsp; Sirus: Honestly, that doesn't even boost my modifier &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): <a href="https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/gauntlets-of-ogre-power" rel="nofollow">https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/gauntlets-of-ogre-power</a> &nbsp; Sirus: Anyone want these? &nbsp; Dia Xiloscient: Does Juan use strength based weapons? &nbsp; Sirus: Yes That would put his strength mod up 1 &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so Juan gets the gloves? &nbsp; Sirus: ...Although we could give it to someone with really bad strength It doesn't count as armor. &nbsp; Dia Xiloscient: Roqar and Dia are both at -1 . . . &nbsp; Roqar: My STR is 9 &nbsp; Sirus: I actually say give it to Roqar. Strength +10 &nbsp; Rolo: mine 10 &nbsp; Sirus: Yes but Dia and Rolo are casters... &nbsp; Farren Nidanas: (I can interchange between str adn dex but that will be additional work for DM so not me) &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): ok so Roqar gets them &nbsp; Sirus: Yes. Her strength is now 19! &nbsp; Rolo: cool &nbsp; Farren Nidanas: (Nice) &nbsp; Roqar: Nice &nbsp; Sirus: welcome to the tough girl club, Roqar. &nbsp; Roqar: :P &nbsp; Juan the Human Cleric Says: "Wish we found those before the tub, Roqar!" &nbsp; Rolo: lol &nbsp; Roqar: Now I can carry more treasure &nbsp; Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Enjoy those, Roqar. Who knows, maybe one day you'll be in a spar with me." &nbsp; Sirus: Someone's mic is making noise I think. &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so now to get up to that ledge to the north you would have to climb up it it's about 20 ft up &nbsp; Dia Xiloscient: Can I see into that tunnel from where I am? &nbsp; Sirus: Marcy has a rope. She can probably try to secure it and climb her way up. &nbsp; Farren Nidanas: (I have no prob moving on walls cause monk)
Sirus: Dia has Spider Walk. &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): maybe about 20 feet back from the ledge &nbsp; Dia Xiloscient: Mage hand + rope + Roqar's immovable rod? &nbsp; Sirus: I don't think mage hand can hold the rope steady when someone is climbing it. &nbsp; Dia Xiloscient: (Spider climb isn't prepared) &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): mage hand only can hold up to 10 pounds i think &nbsp; Rolo: yep &nbsp; Sirus: It could maybe find something to tie the rope to? A hand is a hand. &nbsp; Roqar: I'm good at climbing normal move speed &nbsp; Dia Xiloscient: Tie the rope to the immovable rod. I use mage hand to pick it up and activate it. Now immovable rod is holding up rope for any weight. &nbsp; Sirus: Ahhh okay. Smooth. &nbsp; Dia Xiloscient: (How much does the rod weigh when not active? I'm assuming under 10 pounds.) &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): likely no more than 5 lbs &nbsp; Roqar: Dont think it has a weight but for sure less &nbsp; Dia Xiloscient the Elf Wizard Says: "Hey, Roqar, I need your rod." &nbsp; Rolo: lol &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so you have the mage hand rise up with the rod in hand and rope tied to it &nbsp; Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "I'm not that type... Oh, you mean my other one" &nbsp; Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "You're not even trying to be clever now, I see." &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): it should be able to be made to press the button ok, so you are doing that with the rope for sure? &nbsp; Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "When we're done here, I'd be glad to show Dia my other rod" &nbsp; Dia Xiloscient: Yep. &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): alright and it is done. So who climbs up first? &nbsp; Sirus: Marcy will go up first I guess. &nbsp; Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Roqar, don't make me come over there." &nbsp; Roqar: Roqar next 40 feet &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): ok, give me an athletics for strength check &nbsp; Dia Xiloscient: Are you trying to give her free innuendos? &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): DC is 10 &nbsp; Marcuria Violezi: 14 | 16 ATHLETICS&nbsp; (4) Marcuria Violezi &nbsp; Sirus: strongth &nbsp; Roqar: 22 | 12 ACROBATICS&nbsp; (5) Roqar &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): ok, you make it up Roqar makes it up &nbsp; Roqar: Sure Its free for Party Members Dia &nbsp; Sirus: so everyone has to do athletics to get up with the rope? &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): yes &nbsp; Dia Xiloscient: 15 | 9 ACROBATICS&nbsp; (3) Dia Xiloscient &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): dia climbed up &nbsp; Sirus: .....I think I will have the others wait, ngl. I expect this to end in sorry nothing Nothing. &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): This passageway is barely four feet high and is obstructed by rounded boulders and pebbles. It might have been a streambed, though no water flows here now. &nbsp; Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "No sign of them anywhere here....." &nbsp; Sirus: Okay, so, I haven't the slightest what we're supposed to do here about Nezznar now. We have fully explored every bit of the map. &nbsp; Rolo: maybe a secret passage &nbsp; Roqar: He left We meet him another day &nbsp; Dia Xiloscient: Guess he found whatever he was looking for, and will use it next time we find him . . .
Rolo: i have to go soon &nbsp; Sirus: Mmh. Ok, let's go check the Spellforge one more time. Maybe that. &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): ok &nbsp; Sirus: It's safe to go up the southeastern path here right? &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): yes ok, that still needed a climb check with the rope there &nbsp; Sirus: : x That's what I meant Ok time to spam them athletics &nbsp; Avery: 19 | 13 ATHLETICS&nbsp; (1) Avery &nbsp; Rolo: rolling 1d20( 12 ) = 12 &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): DC 10 &nbsp; Juan Denero: 13 | 12 ATHLETICS&nbsp; (3) Juan Denero &nbsp; Dia Xiloscient: I assume Rolo used mage hand to keep track of Roqar's rod? &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): one more &nbsp; Sirus: One more? &nbsp; Rolo: k np &nbsp; Sirus: What do you mean? &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): nevermind &nbsp; Sirus: oh. &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): farren &nbsp; Sirus: Bahrren, mind an athletics check to get on up and follow after the others? &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): might need to do that for him &nbsp; Farren Nidanas: 22 ATHLETICS&nbsp; (5) Farren Nidanas &nbsp; Roqar: 21 RELIGION&nbsp; (1) Farren Nidanas &nbsp; Sirus: eh? Religion? y that. &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): ok you are all good at climbing today &nbsp; Sirus: yey basic aptitude &nbsp; Dia Xiloscient: . . . He prayed really hard to get up the rope? &nbsp; Roqar: was just about to click athletics when menu shifted &nbsp; Sirus: oof. Marcy is gonna check the spellforge room again &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): and there is no one inside &nbsp; Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "....Really gave up on the Spellforge just like that? I guess he wasn't feeling so brave when his minions ran off..." &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): no one in the polishing room either &nbsp; Rolo: dam &nbsp; Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Urgh. Screw this, then. I am not waiting in this death-encrusted old tomb of a cave,&nbsp; waiting &nbsp;for Drow to show up. Let's get out of here. We'll tell them the place is more or less clear." &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): ok &nbsp; Rolo: where to now &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): back to Phandalin to report on the cave? &nbsp; Sirus: Yes. &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): ok &nbsp; Rolo: maybe check for secret passages &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 3 ) = 3 &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 4 ) = 4 &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 5 ) = 5 &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 5 ) = 5 &nbsp; Roqar: The City of Neverwinter or a stop in Phandalin first? &nbsp; Sirus: Phandalin, then we take a trip to Neverwinter I believe. &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): no encounters on the way back, this is now 4 days later. &nbsp; Sirus: sure Rolo we don't have any way to dispel illusions that might be hiding a secret passage anyways so meh
Roqar: Hey Dia Care for a nice hot bath? &nbsp; Rolo: np &nbsp; Dia Xiloscient: Sounds nice and relaxing &nbsp; Rolo: nice playing guys i have to go sorry &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): unless the illusion is really strong you can usually try to disbelieve &nbsp; Farren Nidanas: (Hello guys, sorry but I need to go now as well) &nbsp; Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Careful. You'll probably go from a bath to a nice comfy bed. With a nice, comfy elven rogue inside it.~" &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): Ok, Rolo Thanks for Playing Today! &nbsp; Roqar: CYA Next Week &nbsp; Dia Xiloscient: Bye! &nbsp; Rolo: ty good times love fire ball later &nbsp; Sirus: Yeah I guess we are gonna be cutting this short here, but there is some in-town chatter and other business to do before we go to Neverwinter. for next session &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): Ok, We stop here you can meet up with silldar and the dwarves next week then figure where to go So Thank you all for Playing today and see you next Saturday! &nbsp; Roqar: Fade to black with Roqar and Dia going for a hot bath &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): alright &nbsp; Sirus: ONE MORE ERP SESSION LATER &nbsp;this joke totally isn't dead on arrival &nbsp; Dia Xiloscient: Is the tub big enough for a girls' spa day? &nbsp; Sirus: Yeah that's it out of me. See you next week. &nbsp; Roqar: Yes it is &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): it was a 340 pound tub i believe so likely good for two at either end &nbsp; Sirus: Actually Roqar should go for a strength weapon now So she can have a +2 on her stuff : P &nbsp; Roqar: Thats an idea for something to buy &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): I will need to make her custom weapon macros to account for the guantlets &nbsp; Dia Xiloscient: Her finesse weapons should be her choice between strength and dex, so it would already be helping. &nbsp; Sirus: Yeah ah I have some macros I want you to fix up too The weapon attack macros for marcy, remove the Warhammer ones and put in a singular 'Gauntlet Punch' macro &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): ok, just let me know what needs fixing and how &nbsp; Sirus: I am not using the warhammer stuff explicitly anymore, got a seperate thing laid out &nbsp; Dia Xiloscient: (Though there are strength only weapons that do more damage, if you somehow got proficiency in one.) &nbsp; Roqar: Doubtful that I will do that &nbsp; Sirus: Roqar could get a longsword I think? She has proficiency &nbsp; Dia Xiloscient: I think elf weapon training covers long sword . . . &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): ok &nbsp; Roqar: Just need to change my macros to STR damage Will check the PHB aftr lunch &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): as i mentioned I will make Roqar specific macros for her now &nbsp; Sirus: Alright. I'll let you handle the macro shift for marcy Just make sure Buddy runs through the levelup stuff for Juan. When he does show ...Gauntlet Punch, not Guantlet." :p small typo &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): he knows but I will remind him, it was actually two people that died one was a cousin of his &nbsp; Sirus: Sure, I get it. Real life takes priority. &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): if you recall Buddy himself was in a crash caused by a drunk driver last year and got banged up &nbsp; Sirus: I don't think I was around last year when that happened so that is news. Yikes. Hope he can cope alright. ...Okay, i've jabbered on long enough. What's the XP gain? For the ghouls and the Ochre Jelly &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): from today? well the flameskull is 1,100 XP &nbsp; Sirus: Ah right the flameskull again. &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): the ghouls are &nbsp; Roqar: CYA Next Week Have a good day &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): 200 XP each Sirus: Ochre Jelly is... &nbsp; Dungeon Master (GM): 450 XP &nbsp; Sirus: So that comes out to +2,350 XP 8,937 XP total now. Beautiful. Ok, i'm out now. See you next week.
