I can't get "selected" command to work.

I have read the instructions, and even copy/pasted the example script and altered the dice from d20 to 4df and replaced "Intelligence" with "Agility", and I get the error message, "no character was found for 'selected'". I've been at this for more than an hour and I'm getting really frustrated. This is all I want to do... I want to add my 7 Attributes to the characters. Then, I want to create general macros that allow me to make an Agility check, Awareness, check, etc. by just clicking on the token and clicking on the appropriate button, using the "show as token action" button. This way, as the GM, I can quickly click on a token and make a check. This has been a very frustrating experience compounded by my scripting ignorance. Any help would be awesome! :)
First up, are you clicking the actual token action button? I mean the one that pops up when you have a token selected, not the ones in the Settings bar. Not implying anything, it's just the simplest explanation! You have to have a token currently selected, with the appropriate settings, of course, or of course it won't work! q;} If that doesn't solve the problem, it would help a lot if you'd post the actual text of the macro you're using. Include where you have it - inside a journal entry, or in the Settings section? Are you sure the token is properly Linked To A Journal Entry ? If the token doesn't represent anything, you won't get the results you're looking for. (And I get another nickel!) Aside from that, I'm not sure what might be happening. You might consider the similarly-acting @{target|whatever} command, which prompts you for a target after you click the button; I use that for some GM rolls I want to keep hidden, for example. I'm pretty sure Phnord's correct in that you're not linking tokens to a character sheet. Double click the tokens that aren't working and select the character they're supposed to be from the drop down, then see if this works.
You guys rock!! I haven't had the chance to use Roll20 much since the last big rollout a month or so ago. I don't remember having the option to tie a token to a character before, although it's entirely possible it's been there for some time and I just haven't had a need to use it. Using macros is new to me, but you guys nailed it, and I'm very appreciative!! :)
It certainly didn't help matters that I was trying to figure this out at 3 in the morning after being awake for 22 hours straight. LOL!
