Hi all, I've been out of roleplaying for three years now after what I think they call a 'mid life crisis' - I dunno, I'm sort of still having it but I've gotten to the point of needing gaming again. Yeah, needing. I have ADHD, and character / world / game building and playing are my passions and have been for 30 years, they fill my brain with dopamines and make me a whole nicer person, help my recovery, all sorts - but in my absence my gaming group(s)... vanished. I can still count the members, but they're all... you know it, I know it, it starts with C - this is very true in the UK where I live. My RPG experience is pretty vast - I can do either gender but will normally cross gender - if that's a line for you, cool. I've... thousands of hours experience building, doing wargaming etc in Roll20 - but I am a 2 game newb as far as playing goes. Once for Lancer, and once for a Esper game Iim runnng. GMT timezone, Scotland, to be exact. I can do any day except Tuesday / Saturday and I've got a moving event which shifted to Wednesday but can shift again? What do I want from a game? It depends on the game. Looking at what I've listed. Esper is 50/50 combat/roleplay, Corolis is... a game that would need the right GM and ideally DP replaced. But I'd love either a strong space marine combat game ala Alien but hardcore and Arabic (Persian Immortals as Power Armour troops, yes please!) but I think that's actually an RP game in disguise :) 5E - I want to play the woodest wood thing which ever did wood - Alesid from the infamous show 'The Forest Faun' appeals most immensely (particularly with the Spear of the Weald from Margreve - although thats setting specific ) - but I took a loooooooooong gap from 2nd Edition and sudddenly you can play the cool races. Either way, the Wood Elf, whatever, the concept is of the barbarian Tribal Defender complete with savage warpaint on the pretty 'oh are they not so lovely' elf - ever spoken to a Wardancer? 'I danced in the morning when the sky turned black, and it's hard to dance with the devil on your back.' - set that to some growl before the guitars burst in to herald the return of summer. Obviously. That character needs a game that has woodlands orientation - not as a stand out member, although I've no issues with 'wtg 1 ranger' - but also some of the Russian myth and other... token imagery of the _Lady_ of the Hunt. After all. Lionesses do all the work. Lancer, I want a game with a strong focus on the downtime system allowing you to shape the game and group... and starting at at least LL3... really, I find it the strangest game for advancement. Heck, you could combine native and Lancer in No Room for a Wallflower... but... enough rambling. The answer is - it varies, but never less than 40% story. A question people never ask: pace of advancement - I don't need levels or XP, but my ADHD means I get... itchy if I feel like I'm not 'getting anywhere' it took me a long time to learn it, and I can sit on it for a multi-part dungeon, but if you spend 40 weeks in the same village area... I may... well I'll be an adult and ask whats going on. Some GMs let players do whatever they want, and groups are not ready for that. I can drive. But by default, I'd like not to have the wheel outside my area. I've mentioned settings and systems above, but if you've got a good concept. I'd be interested. Oh, in Esper I really wanna play the Valar hunter I rolled but didn't get to play. If you don't use roll, that's cool. I rarely do, but this GM did and it's one of the stronger sets - perhaps 2nd after the 3 18's on 3D6 I've rolled, and my luck is so bad I once rolled 36 times for Deathwatch, not meeing the party average, before the GM gave me 3/4 of Party max out of pity :-P So... I'd like to use it. I'm prepared to pay, but I'd be a little more... questioning of the GM - as I'd expect them of me. I also do a lot of photoshop work, custom design of tokens maps etc. That is available to other players for a cost weighting of 'eh, minor avatar change' to 'the God Emperor Descends when you click the animate button'. But you won't get some 5x5 pixel figure. You won't get perfection either, we're all learning. Oh, and if it wasn't implicit... I'm not '1 - godlike' but I'd like long running game to develop in. (I suddenly see I didn't mention power level, I am high power, non-power gamer. Low Fantasy isn't me. So if a +1 sword comes with a backstory and is beloved... cool... all mine do to, but to me it's just a +1 sword when I look at it's rewardyness - which is why I like levelling items!) Catch you out there. -Rob
