Hello everyone and once again welcome to Aerath. I am Draconus. The guide, architect and storyteller who will take you through your great adventure. I am a modern bard. I weave fantastical tales through cooperative roleplay and storytelling. I created this world twenty-five years ago and built it up over the decades that followed.
When I stumbled upon D&D in 2014 I had no idea that I would be here today. Since then, I have run a dozen campaigns. two years ago I took that experience and passion further. I formed my company and began running professional table top RPG games. I converted this world from its original series of novels (written by me) into the Aerath that is now home to nearly two dozen Player-Characters (PCs), and hundreds of NPCs who live and breathe. This world is ever-moving, ever-changing and linked across all campaigns run by my licensed Entertainment company Draconus Entertainment.
When I talk to my players, I tell them that Aerath is not just a game setting but one very large campaign with many different player parties. All in the same world around the same time. Actions and inactions affect every player across all games and major changes are global. This makes for not only a game but a community all enjoying Dungeons and Dragons each week.
Fire & Soul began in a French inspired Victorian town named Caederbrock. A party of police officer and independent contractors delved into the city searching for answers to a series of vicious murders. The more they dug the closer they came to the dark truths and realities that their city stood upon. Standing strong against a terrible threat of an army born of the sea and dark fae magics the party ventured upon an airship to stop thier enemy from destroying their beloved home. there they met an unexpected fate as they attempted to destroy the ship from within, but found themselves caught in the fallout of their own explosive plan. They Saved the city but were torn from their lives, their souls cast into a fiery inferno.
They now face the fourth Layer of Aerath's hells. As Zealous and opportunistic devils and mortals compete to claim supreme lordship over the unclaimed hell scape. Terrifying, unholy monsters lurk in the lands and ruins dotting the landscape, as shattered villages, fortress and cities are pulled from their home planes into the inferno.
Update 01/18/2023
As the party has progressed through the fourth layer, they have began to experience a less-traditional setting for D&D one that combines dark fantasy, a form of cybernetics and street gangs that are on constant competition for dominance of the vast and multilayered Ifreeti city. This setting has been compared to Shadowrun, and has certainly entered into the grey zone of morality. Very few people in Hell are there for being decent people and the party has -as of January 17th- joined the Celestial-run gang known as "Grace", and is now working with a influential member of the gang known as "The Oracle"
So, if you decide to join us on this very fun adventure consider the morality of the party is Grey at the moment and could become darker aligned as time goes on. The current party is three long term players A Fighter who ran a group of shady individuals within the criminal ranks of the parties former home, a Druid with Developing roguish qualities and an artificer who has now grown intrigued by the mysterious Cyberine technology which seems to be a large part of the city's economy. They are all fantastic and welcoming, but as they are now level 8 new players/characters my have to "'hit the ground running" . There is a great deal of RP as well so you will have plenty of time to develop as a character without too much combat except when needed.
Important World Facts
Characters can be killed. I know this is often considered a given, but characters die on Aerath. This does NOT mean I want player to come in with character they could care less about, or treat death as if does not matter, it matters a lot and I strongly urge players to consider investing themselves in both their own character and the characters of others, so if death does happen it is meaningful. No one likes to die but I feel very strongly that it should matter. I have several table rules that make death riskier as well, including a random death limit for all characters. My Table rules go into more details of this and you should read them once you have joined the game.
Please read the table rules, and lore on https://www.worldanvil.com/w/aerath-draconus-entertainment/a/general-table-rules3B-26-homebrewed-standards3A-updated-952022-law . There is some very important mechanical information there that can and will impact the way the game is played.
This game will be long running. All of the previous games have taken a year or more to complete. This game will take you to level 20 and the leveling curve slows as your progress through the world. Expect to be here a while. I promise you it will be a blast. If you don’t believe me refer to my roll20 profile (https://app.roll20.net/users/1474882/draconus-the-dungeon-meister), I have several reviews from past and present players.
Know that Fire & Soul specifically is a 8th level party, so have an idea of how/why your character goals would align with the rest of the group for fluidity.
Survival is now a theme in this game so your character will be experiencing a lot of discomfort as you venture through Aerath's Hell
The party is mostly Chaotic at present, good/evil are more of a spectrum then black and white, it consists of an Artificer, a Fighter and a Druid.
This game is kind of "metal" and can get pretty intense and disturbing so be warned.
My world anvil is always being updated and still does not include all the lore that has existed for these games, but if you are curious about the world please feel free to watch and read. you can find it here
