Gauging Interest for New Game / Game World - Citizens of Sand

So while working on Rogue Swords have sort of veered off to this tangent. In the vastness of the Universe there is an area of space between two black holes. Hidden here is a tiny star and a single barely inhabitable planet. This planet is almost entirely sand. These black holes along with an ancient curse magic are able to pull ships out of hyperspace. Once out of hyperspace the gravity of the black holes along with particles large and small begin pelting the ships. Sometimes ships survive and end up in decaying orbits around the Sand Dune Planet. Eventually they all fall down to the planet surface. Sometimes there are survivors that are now Citizens of Sand. The Citizens of Sand are made up off all the inhabitants of the Universe. A little representation of every race and society find themselves struggling to survive in the harsh sand. Food, water, weapons, and other items can all be had. Lots of wrecks to dig through on the surface. Just about everyday a ship comes crashing down. A Junkers paradise is the World of Sand. Sometimes it's peaceful but most times it is not. This is a world of magic, machines, swords, and blasters.   Can you survive? Can you make it? Will you find a way out or find a way to salvation? Thinking of a script based system like Chronicles of the Outlands but may be more free form options.  Will include a political system for backstabbing and intrigue like In the Company of Delvers. 
Lore Update  This Planet was and the 2 Black Holes were created by a Pantheon of Gods to punish a Mischievous God of Jokes and a Goddess of Magic. Those two are imprisioned here. The Magic leaks out of them. A lot of the dungeons are created by the gods as entertainment. The Gods hope to piggyback on any heroes that find a way out. They are pushing char development and advancement.  The Gods and Demigods are not happy with being locked up. There is also a Demigod of War and a Demigoddess of Flirtation imprisioned. 5 demons, 3 devils, and 2 Djinn round it out. So there are Newb Arrivals on Sand as well several generations of local born. The local born are mishmash sort of Road Warrior Esque Types. They are at home with melee weapons as well as tech weapons.
The Magic System will be Open Free Form  I will use the structure Laws of Magic / Reality from Conrad's Fantasy plus a Mana System  but in addition to breaking a Law of Magic & Reality a player must select Mana Type to use Light Dark Energy- Neutral Mana Water must be within a 100 miles of Oasis or Underground River to use Fire Sand / Earth Air So at Level 0 Char will have a least 2 Mana of the above type. A character's mana can also be judged to determine their alignment. If a character has a lot of Fire Mana people are going to think this char just wants to burn everything. Pc's or Npc's die with 4 or more mana the one who defeated can try to catch the mana to add to their power. Water and Light are traditionally healers but in this can at most restore 1 light wound. Perhaps cure disease or relieve pain as well. Mana can be mixed Example 4 Light, 4 Air, and 2 Sand to create a Minor Djinn
