Brightstone Keep is an abandoned castle about three days' march into the frontier. Until recently, the keep guarded a mining settlement, but it was abandoned when the war broke out. Enemy forces overtook the stronghold and a battle was waged. The royal army drove back the invaders, and the miners hoped Brightstone Keep would be rebuilt and used to watch the frontier. However, the army had to move on in their fight - leaving the keep unoccupied. The King is worried that the invaders will return to Brightstone Keep and use it to launch an attack on the kingdom, but does not have the troops to spare to guard the fortress. He has decreed that any mercenaries of sufficient skill will be paid handsomely to travel to Brightstone Keep, guard it against the invading forces, and keep them from using it as their base of operations... Base of Operations is a 3.5 edition D&D module from Wizards of the Coast that I've updated for 5th edition D&D. This adventure is a battle/siege game with little role playing. This is a game for 4-5 players at level 5. We'll complete this adventure in a single session lasting approximately 4 hours. We'll be using a 27 point buy for stats. Players have starting class equipment, as well as 500 gp for weapons, armor, sundries, spell components, and common magic items. Player inventories will be subject to DM approval. Feel free to use any D&D official source material, except Ravnica , Eberron , Theros , Wildemount , and Unearthed Arcana. Also, feel free to import your own character!
