Not all threats lurk in the wilderness, away from the city lights. Some of the gravest threats appear in the heart of civilization, hiding beneath harmless veneers and waiting for the moment to strike... You and your friends find yourselves in a large and prosperous city, and your path toward the inn you were told about takes you through one of the darkest parts of the city: the cemetery district. Here, field of gravestones jostle against ancient churches and family crypts. In the darkness, you hear a scream! You round the corner to find a grisly sight: a human corpse, its face frozen in a rictus of fear. Several stab marks ooze fresh blood from its belly, and its flesh is marred by what appear to be acid stains. The skin is warm to the touch, and some of the injuries still smoke. He's not been dead for more than a few minutes. Just as you notice a strange movement within the corpse, and an equally strange trail of slime leading from the body to an open grate in the street, several city guards turn the corner around the wreck of the old cathedral of St. Bethesda, fix their lanterns on you, and shout, "Halt! Murderers, halt!" The Crypt of St. Bethesda is a 3rd edition D&D module from Alderac Entertainment Group that I've updated for 5th edition D&D. This adventure is a dungeon crawl with lots of combat and very little NPC interaction. This is a game for 4-5 players at level 3. We'll complete this adventure in a single session lasting approximately 4 hours. We'll be using a 27 point buy for stats. Players have starting class equipment available to them. Player inventories will be subject to DM approval. Players may use D&D official source material from Player's Handbook , Volo's Guide to Monsters , Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes , Xanathar's Guide to Everything , Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide , Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft , or any of the campaign or campaign companion books (e.g. Hoard of the Dragon Queen or Elemental Evil Player's Companion ). Feel free to import your own character or use D&D Beyond! We'll be playing this game on Roll20, but we'll use Discord for audio.
