Any different genre (i.e. cultivation*, system**,) RPGs? [LFG/LFM] PDF (UTC-7)

TLDR; I've always wanted to try these genres (the road less traveled) and was wondering if there were some easy-going like minded folks were out there? ========= Huh can't change the topic title anymore... Last time we did something different was Double Cross and we had a blast. So I am having that itch to trying something a bit different again. No idea on which system. My personal preferences are less crunch and more story. So somewhere around Blades in the Dark and Monster of the Week. But again I am okay with anything (even d20) as long as the group has fun and gets along. Timewise? Probably weeknights, though afternoons are mostly open. Weekends are a bit rough as I have a campaign I'm running. I may set up a session 0 just for some brainstorming or feel free to do so here. If the thread gets ghosted then we'Il try something else :) *Cultivation is not something like Farmville, but rather donghua like 100,000 years of Qi Refinement, Rebirth of the Urban Immortal, Cultivation Chat Group . **System covers a vast range from Solo Levelling, Arifureta, The Novel's Extra, Standing on a Million Lives, the Gamer. Sometimes both may involve some form of reincarnation/transmigration/isekai.
If it is possible I would like to try a cultivation game my self, though I have no idea how to run one. please let me know when one starts up.
Did I hear Cultivation?
I have a campaign idea, focused on an Academy of Magic. The PCs are students of magic with ambitions of becoming archmages one day. To pay tuition, they hunt magical beasts for alchemical ingredients.

Cool beans. Nice to see there are other folks interested. @Kaspar do you have your idea fleshed out? ==== On another note I'd like to get up a brainstorming session in roll20/discord/etc. If this sounds up your alley reply here. I had a few ideas...maybe just use a generic system. Let's see throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks.

The setting is loosely inspired by the 'Mother of Learning' books- there are high mana regions inhabited by dangerous magic beasts, and much of the world is still untamed wilderness despite the overall tech level being late-medieval to renaissance. Adventurers make a living hunting magical creatures and selling the corpses to alchemists. I want to explore/build my magic system in great depth, so a setting with a magic academy and PCs interested in becoming Archmages in whatever fields they choose to pursue. There is also room for magically enhanced warriors who focus their magic on self-buffs, transformations, etc. In fact I have two Academies in mind. 1) Delvers of the Deep: The Academy is an independent city state sitting on a trade route passing through a mountain passage, surrounded by a kingdom, a grand duchy and a tribal confederation. Under the Academy is a vast and immensely deep cave network. The deeper you delve, the higher the ambient mana levels, and the more dangerous and exotic the creatures living there. Many of the students pay their tuitions by delving underground to hunt these creatures and collect crystalized mana. There will be academic and international intrigue and politics, but also plenty of ‘dungeon delving’ sessions. The PCs are pretty much free agents, pursuing their own ambitions. 2) Battle School for Noble Scions: The Academy is the premiere learning institution of a ‘Roman republic’ -esque nation. The nobility are all mages, and send their children to study subjects both mundane and magical. Arguably the most important class is Battle study- where the students fight mock team battles and are prepared for their obligatory military service in the Legion- some as officers, others as specialist mages. The inspirations here are the Battle School from Ender’s Game, and Harry Potter fanfictions where it’s all about the Pureblood family intrigues.
How is either of these suppose to work. and in what kind of system again. sorry My knowledge is limited to onle a few systems. but eager to learn a new one if need be.
Methinks lots of folks want to play. :-) Finding someone to run appears to be the speedbump. I am already committed to GMing 3 campaigns atm so I am unable to run a 4th till one finishes. Is everyone else running multiple games as well? System-wise I mentioned my prefs (more narrative) but am flexible. BESM I suppose is an option? I own BASH but have never tried it. I only picked it up because the task resolution chart was a straight rip from the old Marvel SH. I'm literally hesitant to post more because it sometimes just seems to fuel objections. "Oh you want system X, so now I don't want to play, etc." For me, it is 1) have fun 2) with a good group of people and 3) see #1. The actual system is a bit down the list.

Classless, point buy, skill focused. The magic system, with each spell its own skill, is flexible and well suited for what I have in mind. You don’t need any prior experience- the rules are quite intuitive on the player side, and I will teach them as we play.
I like that idea, but I don't have 4ed. books. where can I go to get them on the system?
Millard W. said: I like that idea, but I don't have 4ed. books. where can I go to get them on the system? Google 'Gurps Lite' for a free PDF that covers the basics for players. I have made my own character sheet in GoogleSheets. There you can just copy-paste skills, advantages, gear, from the list to your character, it calculates points automatically, and helps me easily import the characters to Roll20.
where?
Am I reading this correctly? Appears there is a way to import from GCS into Roll20. https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/4531273/gurps-new-gurps-sheet-with-gcs-slash-gca-sheet-importer GCA support is work in progress.
