Why can’t I have different Profile and Campaign images?

Hey Roll20, I’ve got a question (and a bit of frustration). Why can’t I have a separate profile image and different character images in different campaigns at the same time? Right now, if I want my profile to have a certain picture (like my own face or a personal avatar), I have to change it manually every time I switch between campaigns. But since I play in multiple games with different characters, I constantly have to swap my profile image just to fit the current campaign. This is really frustrating, especially when switching between different game systems and role-playing styles. Can you please add an option to have a permanent profile picture while allowing separate campaign-specific images? Or at least give us an easier way to manage this? Roll20, how can I do this without having to change my profile picture every time?

In the games that you play, do your character sheets allow a character profile picture? If so you can use the drop down menu at the bottom of the chat area to set "speaking as" to that character, then that character's profile picture will appear as your avatar within that game. The setting doesn't "stick" though, so you'll need to do that each time that you enter that gams.

What Rick said, but also, one more caveat, it only works in games where the GM has reset the "Chat Tech" to NONE -- in other words they turn off the possibility of video mode in Roll20.  If you're the GM, or if you're a Player and noticed that Speaking As fails to change your avatar picture to your Character portrait, then ask the GM to disable Chat Tech and set it to NONE under the game's settings. 

That's interesting. I remember the player avatar being visible whenever the player had their camera turned off even if Roll20's chat tech was active. We've been using Discord for voice chat instead or Roll20's chat tech for over a year so we haven't experienced the newer chat set-up, although I'm considering it (one of my players uses a MAC and has trouble using Discord's chat). Rick, pretty sure that when Voice Tech is ON but camera is Off, you can see only the player's Roll20 profile avatar, not their Character portrait selection from Speaking As. Could be worth retesting if they changed that in Jumpgate but I think the chat-tech is the same, like that.
