Add opaque text option to GM layer

I was trying to write notes on the GM layer of my map, but was unable to find any way to make the notes readable after putting them on the GM Layer. Note: I couldn't even see black text on a white background - I can almost see that there is text but I can't read it at all.

As a workaround technique for now --- it is recommended that you use "bright" colors. Try red, magenta, pink, gold, yellow. Those colors should stand out more (depending on your background map's colors). Another suggested method is, draw a black box on the GM layer using the Shape tool. Then type your GM text on top of the box. Or if you already wrote the text, draw a black box over it, then right-click and choose "To Back" to put the black box behind the bright text. This will make your GM text stand out more so you can read it. Another feature that can help a little is the Font choice. Change your GM text to one of the other fonts (I think that Contrail is the name of the font that tends to show up the most boldly on the GM layer).
To be honest, an opaque text option would be useful for any layer. Are you imagining a solid band of background colour behind the text, or perhaps something more like an outer glow in a complimentary colour? Would you want the system to pick, say, black or white as the background colour, or would you want to be able to pick this yourself? I think I'd be happy with a background glow in black or white depending on the darkness of the foreground colour.
