Functional Container Support (Bag of Holding, Backpacks, Chests, etc.)

I’ve been really enjoying the new Build Treasure feature in Early Access. It’s honestly super useful for making custom loot and organizing stuff on character sheets. But there’s one thing that would take it from “helpful” to actually perfect — being able to turn these treasures into real containers , especially Bags of Holding . Here’s why. Why this would make the game way more fun Right now, treasure is basically just one long list you scroll through. It works, but it doesn’t feel like you’re opening anything. When you have a Bag of Holding or some special container, players want that moment of: “Okay, open the bag — what’s inside?” There’s something super fun about having a separate inventory window pop up, like you’re actually peeking inside an extradimensional pocket. It makes it feel real. A dedicated container panel lets you: Separate what’s on your person from what’s stored in the bag Organize shared party loot without scrolling forever Make opening the bag feel like an actual moment at the table Add that “inventory mini-game” vibe It’s honestly just more immersive and satisfying. Why it helps with organization Without containers, EVERYTHING just gets dumped into one massive list. With real container support: Your main inventory stays clean Stuff inside the bag stays grouped together Everyone knows where things are You don’t lose random potions or scrolls in a sea of items A Bag of Holding shouldn’t feel like a messy pile of junk — it should feel like its own storage space , the same way the sheet already handles backpacks and pouches. It just makes sense. We really need description fields in Build Treasure items Right now, when you add an item into a treasure, you can only change: Name Price Rarity Quantity And that’s it. There’s NO spot to put: Magic item details Notes Flavor text Because of that, I’ve literally been using the Price field to write descriptions… which is obviously not ideal. Why that’s a problem: The price field isn’t meant for it It messes up sorting It breaks anything that calculates value We seriously need a proper description box in there. How the container feature would work (simple and clean) Just add a new dropdown in the Build Treasure window: Container Type: Backpack Pouch Chest Custom Container If you pick a Bag of Holding, it automatically fills in things like: Extra-dimensional storage Weight capacity Volume capacity “Items inside weigh X” Optional destruction rules Then the treasure visually switches into a nested inventory , like backpacks already do. Why this would be a huge quality-of-life improvement DMs could make ACTUAL Bags of Holding Players could actually organize their stuff No more using the Price field as a description Homebrew containers would be super easy Shared party bags would be way cleaner Roll20 already supports containers It lines up perfectly with how D&D actually works This would make the whole feature feel complete. Maybe even include a little bag opening sound when opening the sheet itself for flavor.
This could even be a separate "sheet", or a special type of handout. It could then be linked to a player's character sheet similar to the options that include a character sheet in player's journals and give control to individual players. Also, it could have options to include the weight of the contents in a character's encumbrance calculations: For example, the weight of the contents in a normal pouch or backpack would be included, while that of a Bag of Holding or Handy Haversack would not.
Adding the mechanics to something other than just D&D5E would be super useful as well.  Would give a way to simulate vehicle/mount storage and the like.
