Backgrounds are too large

I've been having trouble with the backgrounds on my maps being absolutely cavernous. The actual map people are supposed to play on is like 5% of the size of the background, if that. It also seems to have nothing to do with the map size or file size. It wasn't like this pre-Jumpgate. What exactly changed?
Although doesn't really bother me, I'm curious about it. I like extra padding around the defined map area, but it does seem excessive. I wonder if the extra space is in preparation for expanding the workable grid size? (One can hope)

Hi RDubayoo! Are you talking about the area outside of the gridded area? That was added nearly a couple of years ago. Before, the play area was always stuck to the left hand side of the window, and that made some arrangements of sheets and tokens very difficult to work with. That outside area has a huge bonus as well, as any asset placed out there is invisible to the players (so long as they do not have control permissions.
