How to mimic the 5.5e Monster manual token hp setup without the token bar appearing on the token.

Token on the left is from the 2024 MM, Bar 1 setting has current/max populated but is not linked to an attribute. I replicated the same thing with a manually created NPC 2024 character sheet, but the same settings always have the floating green hp bar. How do you turn this off and get the same behaviour as the 2024 MM tokens?

There is no method to do what you are asking as there should be a bar over the Hobgoblin warrior. The fact there isn't may be a bug, or you may be using "Hover to Show nameplate and bar overlay".
No I didn't have the "Graphics | Hover to show Nameplate and bar overlay" checked. It seems to have changed its behaviour today, loading that same page, all 3 tokens have bars.

Very strange. Filling in both current and max for a bar has always resulted in the bar being displayed.  (At least for the GM - bar display for players is controlled differently).  Is it possible that you has a browser extension like Stylus that altered the display and that extension stopped working? Edit: The only way that I found to make the bar disappear when both fields are filled in is to change the token bar color to transparent (rgb 0,0,0,0)
I have Stylus but only for making inline crit fails solid red to better serve my colour blindness. Not sure what caused the weird glitch. Both tokens from the 2024 MM had the same no bar glitch vs the manually created NPC. Loaded in the game today as I was tinkering with prep for next game and everything had bars. Dragged a skeleton out from the Compendium, it also had a hp bar. No idea what happened.
