Linking Journal Entries doesn't work?

I understand the process, use single brackets and the exact name of the Journal entry, but every time I try this I just get the text output of the journal entry name wrapped in single brackets, no links are created. No duplicate journal names, just trying to link an NPC entry in the GM notes attached to a map.

Could you supply a screenshot of the handout or Bio & Info tab when it is edited?

Hi David! Just checking. You said "GM notes attached to a map". Do you mean the gm notes of a map graphic (like those on a token), as opposed to a handout or character? If so, the link will be created, but it will be unclickable, since those notes can only be seen in edit mode. If I've misunderstood, then yeah, I second Gauss' request for a screenshot to make sure we understand the issue properly.
You need to make sure that the link text had absolutely no formatting. I usually type the text into a plain text editor (I use Windows Notepad), use Ctrl+Shift+V to paste it into the handout, then manually add the brackets. If I don't use those steps then half the time the link doesn't work unless I've created the handout from scratch and, am sure I'm using no formatting, and haven't pasted in any other text.
I just tried this again, and it worked after I highlighted to whole sentence and reset it to no formatting, then manually typed in the name into the brackets.  So even through I was using Ctrl-Shift-V there must have been some sort of remnant formatting on the paragraph or text.
