Macro repository

Hi, i've scoured the forums so apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere but i just wondered if there was an argument to be made for having a macro repository sorted by game (3.5, patherfinder etc) in which players could easily share and develop macros. I've learned a lot from the help pages but still have a lot to learn to develop some really useful macros for my campaign. Fortunately for me Diana P has helped me a lot and i think i'm about ready to be building my own more complex ones. However there are a lot of unique situations that can't be covered by standard or simple macros (i'm thinking spells and special powers primarily) and a place to collate and share those would be amazing. Especially as there is more than one way to represent the desired effects it would be great to get other users opinions on our spell macros/power cards for API users? Please delete this thread if it already exists somewhere!

The main reason that I can think of why there is no macro repository is that each macro usually needs to be tailored to the individual players and the campaign style. No one macro is truly a perfect fit. With the community created sheets having macros built into them already, most macros are created by the gm for customized sheets. The wiki pages https://wiki.roll20.net/Macros, https://wiki.roll20.net/Dice_Reference, and https://wiki.roll20.net/Useful_Macros are usually what is used to make macros. It is a good idea and you should make a suggestion in the Suggestion forum.

I did think exactly that, especially since the sheets have macros that can be pulled apart and rebuilt using the lessons learned in the links you posted. I suppose my main aim was to help with spells since these macros can get quite complicated and other than a bit of customisation for effect and playing style have to contain at least 80% identical information to ensure the spell does what it needs to do. Technically i'm being lazy as i'm building a campaign and want to save time on the spell macros for my magic heavy players lol. Before making a suggestion i thought i'd see if i'd already missed something that already existed and wanted general opinion from users of the site with more experience than my own so thanks for your input, it is much appreciated. I also think there is a call for a way to share character sheets so that generic monsters can be created and shared for ease of encounter creation... but have to admit i haven't searched around to see if that already exists lol.

There is also an update on the horizon called " update of holding " that might have some features you will like and use.

You are welcome and if you have more questions feel free to post them. If there is a feature you think would make roll20 better and it is not in the suggestion forum, feel free to make one there.
