Pathfinder (level 7) - Jade Regent - LF 2 replacement players (Sat. 6 pm GMT)

What do I need? I need 2 replacement player for my Jade Regent Adventure Path game (Pathfinder system) due to some of my previous players dropping out over the last month for various reasons. The game itself has started back in December and has been running for almost 5 months now. The players are level 7. When do I want to play? We play every Saturday, 6 pm GMT/1 pm EST. Next session will be May 4 How long is each session? We usually have really long sessions, which I know might be a problem for some people. Most of the time we play for around 7-8 hours (yes, seven to eight hours), with a few breaks in between. I'm aware this is quite long, but please be sure you can commit to a game of that length before applying. How/where do I want to play it? We'll be using Roll20 for maps and battles, and voice communication via Skype for the actual talking (so it won't be text based in case you're wondering) Who am I looking for? What should you know? It doesn't matter to me how experienced you are with Pathfinder, as long as you're willing to learn. However what I'm looking for are people that are more Role-players instead of Roll-players. Yes there will be stretches where one combat encounter follows the next, but even in these "dungeon crawl"-sessions RP will be possible and should be happening. If all you care about is your Damage and the highest To-Hit-Bonus, but your character background is a blank sheet, then this is most likely the wrong game for you. We had entire session (again, yes of 8 hours) that are almost entirely roleplay. You should also be aware that this is an Adventure Path. It's intended to take you from level 1 to around level 16 while telling a story. While you certainly don't have to follow the plot on rails all the time - there will be sidequests and such and your decisions will matter - you also should accept the fact that there's an overarching story here and if you're hell-bend on breaking out of that, then you should find a game that's more suited to that. Also while the PCs are clearly the center of the story, not everything is about YOU. There's a few other players as well. That should really go without saying, but I guess I better say it anyway. The AP has a certain "Asian Theme" to it, but it will take quite a long time till you actually get there. Most of the AP is about the trip to Tian Xia. It is easier now than at the start to Tian Xia based concepts, but they still have to be really good and need a good reason to join up with the rest of the group. At this point the group has just left the Land of the Linnorm Kings, far to the north, and left the town of Kalsgard for their trip over the Crown of the World (the North-pole region) into the far away land of Tian Xia (="Asia"). We can talk about how your character will be integrated into the story at this point. Who's in the group so far? Currently the group consists of the following: - Male Half-orc Fighter - specialised on "hitting things really hard" - Female Human Samurai - specialised on intimidating enemies, diplomacy and hitting them. - Male Human Ranger - Archer specialization. They are all level 7. Which NPCs have joined the Caravan in the meantime? Quite a few actually. Here's a list (mild spoilers in this one) What I want from you? Further down you'll find the Character Creation guidelines. I don't want a finished character sheet from you yet, but there are there so you know what you'll get yourself into. Instead I just would like a short summary for now what kind of character you're wanting to play. Character Creation Info I don't need a full character sheet yet. - Download the Jade Regent Player's Guide (and read it) - Characters start at fifth level - Standard character creation with 25 point buy - Starting gold: have to determine that still, but probably 23,000 gp - 2 traits PLUS 1 campaign trait from the Player's Guide (so 3 total). If you have a connection to a different NPC we can change one of those traits to fit. - Max HPs at first level. At later levels you can either take the average hitpoints or roll. If you roll you have to do it where I see it and you have to accept the result even if its below the average. We use the PFS averages, so d6=4, d8=5, d10=6, d12=7. - No evil alignment. CN is allowed, but doesn't mean you can be a jerk. - 3.5 classes, feats, spells etc are not allowed - Third party stuff is allowed on a case-by-case basis (don't go overboard. I might allow one or two things per player but not an entire spellbook) Pathfinder Resources http://www.d20pfsrd.com/ Contact info for me Skype: khales.aoc
*cries* I really want to join but I already have a game on Saturdays :( I've been wanting to do this AP! Good luck finding players!! Wish I was one of them,
I would like to join, thought I don't know if I can stick around for the entire 8 hours, but I can at least stick around for 6 to 7, but I think its possible on a usual saturday. The character I've come up with is a Half Elf alchemist, around 20 or so, who has had an unfortunately cursed existence, locked up for the past decade with his fathers (Human) research into the studies of demolition, and his mothers (Elf) research of herbalism and healing for various reasons. He has just recently escaped armed with the knowledge he has gathered and learned for the past ten years, he wants to travel far and wide, to see the world with eyes caged for ten years, and to run from a past he so desperately despises, and fears, feeling outcast from the world, and its people.
Giving this a little bump
What are the restrictions/choices for characters when it comes to races and classes? And would a paladin cause too much friction with the other characters, being lawful good? Been wanting to try out a paladin for a while, but I always abandon it due to the almost inevitable Chaotic Neutral played as Chaotic Evil character (killing and destroying anything etc). I have a character background idea for a gnoll paladin I have been dying to try, but have never been able to (no DM allows the race [the one in the ARG is pathetic] and a paladin typically doesn't fit with many parties without extreme fiction that typically brings loads of drama).
Well considering we have a fighter, samurai and archer already, another melee type really is a bit redundant. Arcane and/or divine magic is what is sorely missing in that group.
Just wondering if my Idea could fit into the group still? An alchemist isn't exactly magical, but it seems like it would work with the group some. I can always come up with a new character, a Wizard or a Sorcerer wouldn't be too hard, i'm quite flexible with character creation if needed.
I'm quite interested. Would a paladin2/Sorc3 qualify? Lots of fluff involved, a once lost man who found peace with his power through faith. (It's mostly a sorcerer that can take a few hits, not a melee caster)
Hope you're still looking for people! This sounds perfect, from my side. 6 onwards is excellent, and 7-8 hours isn't a problem. Player-wise, I'm fairly new to RPing but I mess around with character creation all the time. I've played a couple of one-shots, and played 3rd ed sporadically 'bout 10 years ago. For my character pitch, I was thinking a sorcerer, but I'd easily spec out an oracle or something else if you're leaning more towards a divine slant. The concept I've got is a CG Kitsune (or Gnome if you're excluding the weirder races), hailing from a tribe in the Forest of Spirits. His relationship with said tribe is rather strained, following his decision to leave the secular society. He wandered the land for a time, eventually coming within a stone's throw of Sandpoint, where he was beset upon by a rather nasty group of goblins. During the encounter, some latent magical talent flared up and he managed to deter the attackers for a moment, but was unable to repel them totally. At the last moment, he was saved by ---- (NPC to be decided, or this section to be changed if Rescued conflicts with a pre-existing character). After he recovered and slowly came to grips with his newfound power, he said his thanks, bid his farewells and took to the road again, unaware of the connection this random event had forged with his future. (I own the first JR AP book, so I'm kinda attached to the Sandpoint area and the inhabitants. A little odd having the character go there and wander back to the Kalsgard area, but it seemed to fit in my head for some reason; guess he had to go from level 1-5 somehow!) I'm happy to chop and change whatever, and hopefully I didn't bore you too much with the backstory. I've really gotta tone down the tropes.
