The Premise
A new land ha been discovered, North of the established kingdom. Only an outpost has so far been built. Rumors and Tales has spread, that the new land is rich and valuable for those who dare to brave the wilderness. The adventurers who have made the journey so far now sit in the Smashed Shield inn, planning their next expedition into the unknown.
Playing
The campaign will be run West Marches style. You can read about it here: <a href="http://arsludi.lamemage.com/index.php/78/grand-experiments-west-marches/" rel="nofollow">http://arsludi.lamemage.com/index.php/78/grand-experiments-west-marches/</a>
Basically it means that there will be a pool of players (max 20), who will communicate with each other and plan where they want to go and when they can play. There will be no fixed time every week in wich play happens. The players have to organize and tell the GM (me) when they can play.
Exploring Northland is not for the faint of heart. The wilderness is dangerous, the caverns and lairs of beasts even more so. Characters can perish, and thoughtlessness will most likely have dire consequences. You have been warned. Dice will be rolled in the open. Fudging will not happen ;)
The Rules
We will use the Pathfinder ruleset from Paizo. The SRD can be found here: <a href="http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/" rel="nofollow">http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/</a>
A variant called E6 will be used. It means that the characters advance normally until level 6. From then on, they earn a new feat for every 6000 exp they get. This makes the disparity between characters lighter, since the game changes drastically around level 10.
Apart from that anything on the prd goes except Gunslingers and guns. I also reserve the right to add houserules later on if it proves to be nessecary.
Characters will be generated using 15 point buy. There is a point buy calculator here: <a href="http://tools.digitalightbulb.com/pbcalc.html" rel="nofollow">http://tools.digitalightbulb.com/pbcalc.html</a>
The players are encouraged to write down what they find in the wilderness, since noone has ever been there before. It will also help the other players greatly to know that the Goblin Caves are more dangerous than the rest of the woods. I have made an Obsidian Portal page to facilitate this. It is still under construction <a href="http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/realms-of-northland" rel="nofollow">http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/realms-of-northland</a>
