I am looking for a relatively balanced group of players with any sort of prior D&D exp. Players MUST have prior D&D exp, but it can be any edition. Players MUST have PHB or the Basic Rules. Roll20 exp is preferred, but not necessary. I am still warming myself up as a DM and cannot take on completely new players yet. I used to play a lot of 2nd edition AD&D about 15-20 years ago and have been getting into 5E this year as a player. I am looking to dip my toes back in the DM pool after a 15 year break. **This will be my second run of this one-shot. The first one was put up on short notice and only had 3 people and only had 2 hours for play. I had to modify on the fly, but it was still a good learning experience and everyone seemed to enjoy it.** Background: This is a typical fantasy setting. It is a world where divine and arcane magic exists and people know about it and have experience with it. However, in this world about 200 years ago the forces of evil were apparently eradicated. The dragons, giants, demons, orc and goblin hordes, undead armies, etc., etc., were all pushed back and it has been a great era of peace and prosperity for the PC races of the world. There are still some magical creatures and such that people come across in the untamed wilds, but organized evil seems to have been eliminated for good. For humans, halflings, and similarly short-lived races the stories of goblins, undead armies, dragons, etc. are fantasitcal and seem just like that, stories. Most, even academics, think these tales are exaggerations at best, but probably just myths and legends. For Dwarves and similarly "medium-lived" races, these stories are cautionary tales that your elderly parents or grandparents lived through and have warned you about, but the youngest generations have grown up completely in this era of peace. For Elves only the very youngest have lived without personal experience with the forces of evil being organized against the good peoples of the land. What to Expect: A pretty bare bones, run of the mill story...starting in a tavern! 3 hours of doing as much as we can, with hopefully more than 3 encounters. Almost all theatre of the mind. I may make a couple maps, but probably not. This one will probably be rather light on the role playing...it is kind of a mechanical test for DMing on Roll20. If you played 2nd edition, it may have some of that flavor. I also like to keep the talk at the table pretty easy going and filled with humor, so funny people are welcome. - Start at 5PM EST, play for 3 hours - Any class allowed - Any race allowed - Variant Human is allowed - Feats are allowed - No evil or neutral characters. You are good adventurers who are willing to help. - No "insane characters" - This story will be on rails, pretty much. It is a one-shot, deal with it. - Start at level 1 - Start with appropriate starting gear from the Players Handbook - Use the standard array or point buy - We will use Skype for chat, so be ready to give me your info there (I prefer Hangouts but am a newb at setting up the calls). Decent English skills will be required. What I expect: - A group of 4-5 players - I'd like to see at least one healer type (cleric/bard/druid), one tanky type, and beyond that a stealthy or thieves tools-using type would just be a bonus. - Players who say yes: good D&D is like good improve, never say no. - Cooperative play. For the one shot, let us all presume that your character is along for the adventure, please. - Please tell me about your prior D&D exp in your application - Please provide a sentence or 3 about the character(s) you'd be interested in playing for this. About me: I am 37 years old, I live in Indianapolis. I played mostly 2nd edition (AD&D before that) when I was a teenager into my college years, before everyone started having real life issues and meeting up for regular gaming we just impossible. I was the guy who knew most of the rules off of the top of my head because I'd read the books and found the memorization pretty easy, or I at least knew where to quickly look something up. In my group of friends we all took turns in the DM chair. I have seen 3rd edition, but was a bit turned off by how much more complicated the game started to get. I have been catching up on the new 5th edition and am really excited for the new system. I have a players handbook, DMG, and MM, and have been obsessing over them for over 2 months. It'd be nice to get a bit of the old nostalgia going, but with new friends. I have been playing in many games of 5e, all through Roll20, but as you may have noticed, there is a high drop-off rate from players in Roll20, so it is hard to get a pick up group of strangers to really STICK. As far as I am concerned, I think the new 5E system is a great combination of ideas from different editions and has a nice "old school" feeling that I personally enjoy. I am checking to see if the answer may be to just start DMing again.
I corrected the Start time in the body of the message.
I'm up for doing a one shot. My Skype is: sirjackz with the screen name of El Luchador. I would still need to create a character but that wont take too long a tall since i'm rather creative.
Please provide some more info, such as what I asked for in the game description.
Hey Aaron, I would love to try out 5e, ive heard good things about it. I have played in several short campaigns using 2nd edition and Savage world. My RP experience is limited but I want to get better. I love to have a good mix of combat and role play in campaigns. I like playing a healer type character. One of my favorite characters that i've played has been a socially awkward druid. But i dont mind playing something else if needed. Let me know! Thanks

Ok well i shall just give you a fat chunk of information. My name is Jack Forrest.I am a 18 year old male that lives in the UK, (England) GMT:00. Recently i have had a really bad craving for D&D not going to lie, my prior experience is just over a years worth of 4e and recently finished a 5e campaign. So i am indeed relatively new, however i am a faster learner. My times are pretty much open doors. Not being employed, not going to school. A Little bit about myself... I'm friendly, i have anxiety so getting into a role playing stride at the start could be a little slow. The anxiety was caused from a string of events that occurred earlier in my life and had a real emotional toll on me. And for my character like i said, ain't got a solid character down yet so maybe we could call and create one. I usually like filling in the group as i'm usually last to apply anyway so being one of the firsts is new to me. I usually play Druid or ranger a lot as they are my favorites. Maybe i could expand out my array of class selection this time.

If you still got room I'll play.
I got the books so I can quickly create if you need extra people
Drat, guess I missed out. Well, I've been on the lookout for a Sunday game, and I'd rather like to play a lawful-good paladin, so if you need one of those later on, feel free to yell at me...
