Add Video option to canvas

Hi guys, I had a thought the other day about how to use Roll20 to combine digital tabletop (which you do so well) with live, in-person gaming. I envisioned using a USB webcam suspended over my table with a view of the map. In Roll20, if the GM had the option to use this video feed instead of an image for the canvas, remote players could indicate their moves with their tokens in the digital space which would indicate the movement of a real space token on the board. I believe this would make things much easier to integrate absent or remote players into live games.
This is exactly what we are doing today with 2 remote players over Google Hangouts using a draw tool to allow us to draw on top of the live image.  Unfortunately for us the Hangouts API that supported this is going away so I'm looking for alternatives.  Roll20 seemed like a great replacement but I can't figure out a way to capture the table image in a useful way.   What I'd like from Roll20 is a feed from an overhead camera (it can be low frame rate say 1 frame per second or even manual snaps) and the ability to put on a grid overlay (scaled) to our existing map tiles.  The remote players can see their mini's and could either draw over or we could use tokens on the overlay (I like the token idea).
