Questions!

In response to Dusty I would like to roll play the skull ritual in a thread since the idea of waiting for a session to do it seems unpractical and since it came from yours it would make more sense rather than dropping it onto some other GM.
Geno. I think we could make it work either way (in or out of game). I will start a new thread for you & I to discuss options.
In regards to the pvp, I was thinking that players could issue challenges so that the chalangee can choose to accept/decline if they wish. As for non-combat oriented characters such as Keyah, I think she would be wise enough not to take on Toem in a toe-to-toe since as you said, she has no attacks. That being said, role play wise, I'm guessing Keyah would probably not join a tournament/challenge type event :) If she were interested though, her place to shine would more likely be in a 2v2 or 3v3 type event where she can bolster allies to come out victorious as a team. So non-damage people would still have roles to fulfill. That being said, I fully understand the concern and if it really seems like a bad idea to put into this campaign then that's all good. It was after all just a suggestion :) Quick question with reference to the above comments. As we are not implementing he PVP stuff, would Gauthak and Aeries still have their bout? As for the shorter sessions, I was thinking it would be a good idea especially for those players with lower level characters that want to catch up in XP. While lower xp gains means slower progress, it is better than no xp gains and no progress :)

Carries will always eat supports (they're delicious). It's the natural order of things. But supported carries will always eat carries ;) It's symbiosis, it's nature, and it is beautiful. As for LoL I don't mean a literal port of the game, I just used it as a fairly easily-related to example. (farming minions? plz) I just meant in a smashy kinda way. But yeah, a little arena fighting never hurt anybody. Naturally, tournament rules so nobody actually *dies*. And as Gavin pointed out, the team roles are still there. It's just team on team. It's still cooperative ;P You're working together...TO DESTROY EACH OTHER.
Hello dice gods. My question has something to do with making a detail change to my assassin Valas Skelflame. He currently has his past soul set to Shardai-kai but I am thinking of changing it to Tiefling. It won't make any changes to his current skills or anything it just changes what feats he will have access to down the line.
Yeah that's fine man.
Are there still other 1st level PCs or should i give up on my 1st lvl defender since everyone's higher than 3rd now?
I still have a lvl 2 cleric that for some reason is not on the guild map anymore.
there are a couple other lvl 1 PCs, so no worries on that front.
poor keyah is only lvl 2 and petyr is still lvl 1
And I'm looking at making an Alt soonish, I'm liking my Kenku Bard
Hey. I wanna ask something about the assorted time rule. Before I proceed, I wanna say I live in Malaysia and I work in the F&B line. So if I had told the GM of the game the amount of time I was able to squeeze in upfront, am I safe from the temporary/perma ban from the group? If I am truly unable to make it and I ended up getting pick, I am able to say I can't join and let someone else take my slot, right?? Thanks in advance for the answers.
as long as its not like hey I can play for 30 mins, it would be fine. Just realize that you will receive less reward and xp when you leave early
If our characters are still in Matt's campaign, can they go on other ones?
hmmm good question...probably not till we resolve things....
Yes, they can, unless they are dead.
Cool! Thanks Matt. :)

Question about choosing character backgrounds and character themes. Would choosing a background and theme from different campaign settings be allowed? From what I've read some campaign settings like Forgotten Realms and Dark Suns do not mix. Are backgrounds and themes from campaign settings even fine? Otherwise I can just dig around in the Dragon Magazines for obscure equivalents but I wanted to check to make sure this is ok first. Just trying to get a character background and theme that goes together and makes sense.
All is open, when you character is completly done myself or other DM's will take a look and let you know if anything needs to be changed
Rgr that, thanks for the reply!
can i use the default template macros in my macros eg. in the macros it looks like this "&{template:default}{{name=Scorching Burst}}{{At-Will✦=Standard Action}}{{ Keywords:=Arcane, Evocation, Fire, Implement}}{{Range:=Area Burst 1 Within 10}}{{Target:=Each Creature in the Area of Effect}}{{Attack:=[[1d20+5+?{Modifiers|0}]] vs. Reflex}}{{Hit:=[[1d6+5]] Fire Damage}}" but in the game chat it looks like this
Sure, I really don't mind. It has all the same info, but it just takes up a little more space and is in a box.
2 Questions 1) why are you not using the "Character Sheet Template" in the "Campaign Settings" for this campaign, it would make life slightly easier to look up a characters stats, have a look at it and 2) If this campaign has access to API Scripts then have a look at this <a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1793309/script-p" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1793309/script-p</a>... so with Character Sheet and this Scripts, everything will look amazing but it will be some work to setup the script
Personally my experience with roll20's character sheets is its very buggy and easy to screw up (especially when we get players for the first time). One wrong value or expression effects so many macros, while mythweavers generates alot of your stats, defenses, and values for you. While we do use the Attributes template for enemy Macros and attacks. Also you as a player wont need to view other players stats only the GM or DM might and each journal has a link to mythweavers in it for easy viewing. Secondly API's are cool but they take up alot of space in my opinion, Our current template accomplishes the same thing besides have borders.
As Geno said, the 4e sheet especially is screwed up. Heck if you have a Wis-based character it doesn't even calculate your Will defense properly. It also lists WAY more attributes than would ever be necessary, even if you wanted all of your macros to include things like your STR, your half level, and all that jazz. I did in fact used to have them in this campaign but got rid of them because they just made a mess of everything and were entirely unnecessary and inferior even to things like mythweavers sheets. We don't have API scripts, and honestly it is probably not worthwhile to accomplish such a minor aesthetic change.
ok i understand
It's not broken. There's settings in the back under options that you select to tell it which stat to base defenses off of and such.
Yeah which is why they went into the "unnecessarily complicated and inferior" category. That and for a while new players kept thinking they needed to fill them out when they didn't, they didn't actually add anything to the game, it adds about 50 unnecessary attributes, etc. and that's just a few of the reasons I removed them
if you have any questions or need help with macros or ideas I am in game now and will help until the start of the session
Matt, I have no idea how to make a character for this campaign. How would you like me to do so? Level 1 right?
I'm slightly with McLean T on this one. I know how to make a character (and if character creation rules are normal I could also help McLean), but just need to know if there are any non-standard guidelines and if we need to start at 1. Thanks.
Hi McLean and Gary, everything you need to know for character creation is in the Basic Rules for New Joiners thread in the forum. Specifically the first 6 headings :)
People who need help with character creation, I will be in-game for the next hour or so. Also if you are new and have not received an in-game journal entry, you should pop into the game and let me know! Cheers!
What do you mean by in game i've seen that term used in a few places but im not sure what it means.
On the campaign page, there is a button for "Join game." Hit that, and you are in-game.
<a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=209652" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=209652</a> This is what I have so far with my sheet, I was wondering if someone could have a quick look and let me know anything i may have missed. Thanks,

Took a look. Here are some mistakes. Your ability scores are being calculated incorrectly. The section for Temp Score automatically overrides your normal score. For your Racial score bonuses simply add them to the ability score array you used to have the total. In addition, for your defenses you get +1 and +2 from your racial and class defense bonuses respectively. If you look, there's a column labeled 'Class' where your defenses are. You'd put your 2 there. For the racial the 'Misc' column should be fine. Just a note about your class, you need an implement to cast spells, psionic or acrane. That Longsword is going to get you nowhere unless you meant to put in a different psionic class by mistake? Here, you can use this character sheet(3 pages) as an example: Silviana "Mist" al Thay, Tiefling Psion <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=209039" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=209039</a> Don't worry, you're doing fine. Just letting you know how the sheet works. :)
im thinking about building a bard of some sort(satyr maybe) i want it to be a little melee heavy suggestions?

Tim K. said: im thinking about building a bard of some sort(satyr maybe) i want it to be a little melee heavy suggestions? What kind of heavy melee do you have in mind? Satyr's are archetypal Bards but they have a couple other solid choices. Depends on which stat bump you take. For the defender role a Satyr would make a good Battlemind or an acceptable Cha Paladin . If you're more into the leader role, a Satyr would make a good Valorous Bard or Euphoric Ardent . If you're striker oriented, you may want to look into certain Sorcerer builds, certain Monk builds, Warlock/Hexblade , Assassin/Executioner , or Rogue . Finally, if controller is your idea of heavy melee, certain Binder (Warlock) builds and certain Bard builds are what you may want to look into. Hope this helps you make up your mind. :P Edit: Ooops, I misread your comment. XD If you wanna focus on heavy melee as a Bard , well, you might look into the Skald subclass. The Skald's Aura healing ability is a passive aura that your allies can use to heal themselves, freeing up your hands to smack things with your weapon of choice. :)
The right answer is to light them on fire, and light yourself on fire, and then ask them to dance, politely, in the fire. That is the Satyr way.

It is also the Natsu way... fire is great for an empty stomach and gets you dancing too
If you want to play a melee bard play a skald
Ignis P. said: If you want to play a melee bard play a skald Wait, did we just agree on something?! XD
Working on my character sheet and could use some help/advice. Just getting started so probably some simple stuff I am just not aware of. Should i link it here or in the character sheet thread even though it is not complete.
I'm on if you want to chat and get some help
I will be around tonight if you have time. Thanks.
do we get to use themes and backgrounds? if we do, where should i list that in the character sheet?
Yes you get to use themes and backgrounds. List it in the middle section. You also get an expertise feat for free.
So as someone new to this game, what do I do now? Wait for my character's journal entry to appear (am I missing a button to do this myself)? Test my macros in-game? Engage in an epic tap-battle with a herd of enraged ferrets?
If you are unfamiliar with 4e rules, you should read the chapters in PHB. You should also get started on your character sheet (in mythweavers). You also now have a journal entry in the game, so you can do stuff there now.
