Is it possible to create characters from macro for summons?

The title says all: Is it possible to create characters from macro for summons?
Yes. You can either have the journal prepared and have a script create tokens of it near the caster, or use a generator to build statistics for it on the fly to a specific token. You can even use a combination of the two.
Do you have any links on how to do the latter, and what do you mean with "generator"? I am not good with javascript so I won't write my own script, altough I am sure that would be the possible wayy, which is why i asked if it is possible from a >macro<

Thanks for repping everyone! To be clear on the 5e differences JF's version works with the default sheet while my version works with my Shaped sheet.
Amazing info. Thanks for the lynx.
Quick question about this topic. I love the ability to use the chat command "!summon whatever", using King's script. My players are asking for a macro "button" to do things like this. Is that possible?

Sure. A macro is just a chat command, or series of chat commands, packaged up into clickable button. Where do they want to click? Do they want a button at the bottom of the screen at all times or do they want a button on the caster who does the summoning?
