I'm going to be running a regular series of 5E D&D sessions using Roll20 in the near future, and I need to find two or perhaps three players who are willing to have a short session with me to test out some things and let me work the kinks out of my setup. We'd only play for a couple of hours, perhaps, and it would be a one-shot deal. I'm open to just about any time, depending on the availability of my volunteers. I'll need you to have Skype and a mic, but no cam required . This post is also a general assessment of interest in the game itself, so if anyone thinks this sounds fun, be sure to let me know! I'll link to a Google document below which explains and describes what 6S is going to be about and how it's gonna work, but as a teaser, here's the lore blurb from the doc, as well as the TL;DR. No one truly knows why Slitherius created the Spheres, but that doesn't stop a thousand wild tales about them from being repeated time and again. The ways and motives of the legendary Yuan-Ti archmage remain a mystery, though theories and speculation abound. Despite this widespread ignorance, nearly everyone, in every land, is aware of the Spheres' existence, and knows well enough to fear their appearance. They know that the Spheres are massive, composed wholly of some strange, impenetrable metal that is neither steel nor gold nor anything else worked by the mortal races, and that they have no discernable entrance. It is also well-known that the Spheres never stay in one place for long, simply disappearing from one location and appearing again someplace else, with no apparent rhyme or reason. Finally, it is a matter of no contention that whenever and wherever one of the Spheres surfaces, people disappear. Most are never seen again. Some say that they were made as a test, a trial of sorts for potential champions, perhaps meant to serve Searingscale himself, or possibly to fulfill some grander purpose in the world. Others say that they are a form of magical trap, and that the archmage uses them to ensnare the souls or life energy of hapless victims, to empower himself or put to use for some other nefarious design. Yet others declare that Slitherius was a benevolent master, and brought the Spheres into being as a means of helping people to attain their goals and find the answers that they seek. No small number of people scoff at these lofty theories, claiming that the famed Yuan-Ti arcanist was simply insane, driven mad with his tremendous power, and fashioned the inscrutable, deadly Spheres on a random whim, uncaring of the consequences, or even amused by the terror his creations wrought. Those rare few who have been inside one of the enormous silvery orbs and managed to return to the natural world tell similar stories about what lay within the incomprehensible Spheres. They speak of twisting, labyrinthine corridors of stone, metal, or even seemingly organic materials; of a host of foul and monstrous creatures of every variety known, lurking in the dark to slaughter any whom they might catch; of devilish and cruel traps designed to maim, maul, or kill; and of bizarre magical effects with no apparent source or meaning. Some of those survivors also say that they entered the Sphere willingly, seeking something - an object, a person, an answer, or an even more nebulous goal - and that within those shadowy halls and chambers filled with death, they found what they sought . TL;DR: Fully random game, play a character that you didn't choose or design - make it work and bring it to life, heavy character role-play emphasis , series of stand-alone dungeon crawls, largely hack-and-slash with little complex plot, theatre-of-the-mind style, open to all players on a first-come-first-served basis, drop-in-drop-out design, XP and treasure progression carries from session to session even if characters do not, come to as many or few sessions as you want, no need to commit to group or specific time, live streamed on Twitch . House Rules and Table Expectations: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1PZK895Bfg61B9MDvB44IwRpNGDsuM4KLh2t69MffbB0/edit?usp=sharing EDIT: So, we had the test session, and it went mostly okay. There were some problems, first with Roll20 voice chat, then lots of problems with Skype, and character creation was kind of a mess which took forever. So I think I'm going to try Discord for next time, and I'll just be randomly generating all the characters ahead of time myself, then each player will have a choice between two different randomly rolled pre-gen characters when they show up. That will let us get right into the game. I'll be announcing both HERE (not sure if it should be a new thread, or just update this one) and on my channel feed on Twitch ( https://www.twitch.tv/firesnakearies ) a little bit ahead of time when each session is going to happen. Then it'll be first-come-first-served, so whoever shows up at the scheduled time will be able to play, until we have six players. Then I'll have a waiting list for those who want to stick around and watch the stream, and wait for a chance to jump in. When a player leaves the game, whoever is waiting can join right in. So keep an eye out for a thread here, and if you really want to make sure you don't miss it, keep an eye on my Twitch channel feed as well.
