Noobies looking for a group (FULL)

Hey, we are two noobies looking to get into d&d 3.5 We are looking for a DM, who has no trouble with beginners. He should also note that one of us often has stupid ideas. If anyone else wishes to join in as a player, we're completely okay with that (if they're okay with us) and encourage them. Our time is GMT+1, so that should also be of note. Thank you for your attention
Hey, I have GMed a few beginner games of a lot of types. If you can get one or two more people on board, I'd be happy to write up a campaign for you.
Pathfinder? I have people if you can DM that.
That's awesome shadow, we'll try to gather up more players, how many more exactly would we need? Oh, and if you could provide an email or something like that, so we may contact eachother
Oops just realized your said GMt +1, that's 7 hours ahead of me. That'd be a difficult time for me to match up with you.
Chaos: I have neither ran nor played a game of Pathfinder, so I don't think I am the guy to run a game in it just yet. I have GMed 3.5, 4.0, Some World of Darkness and have played/have exp in Spycraft, Monsters and Other Childish things and Thieves' World if you are interested in any of those. Or, if you want to run a Pathfinder game, or know someone who does, I would be more than happy to play. Jake: ideally, a 3.5 game has a minimum of 4 players and a maximum of 6, but I have played games with 3 PCs that worked out fine. I might know some people who would be interested, but I cannot guarantee anything. Also, I am not familiar with the timezone GMT. Do you know what +1 is in EST?
I'm in GMT+9.5... If your game start in the morning in GMT+1, then maybe I will have the chance...
Do you know what +1 is in EST? I think EST is GMT-5. So +1 is 6 hours ahead of EST
Thanks Suna. Also, until we have a full group and are willing to play, I think it would be easier and more comfortable to communicate exclusively over roll20. Sorry.
It's okay. So Suna, would you be willing to hop on board if we find the time that will correspond to everyone?
Yes of course. XD I can DM game but English is not my native language. So being a player maybe is better for me.
Yea I'm in the PST, so that's GMT -8, so +1 is actually 9 hours ahead of me. Granted I can get my wife to play if we can find a time that works for everyone. I'd think early Saturday morning GMT would be fine as that would be late Friday evening for those of us in the States... just a suggestion.
Ok, how about this, everyone send me days and times they would prefer and days and times they absolutely cannot do, and we can work it out from there.
By which, I mean post those times in this discussion.
For me it would be friday evenings, whole saturdays or morning at sundays. During the week i'm usually quite busy.
Mon-thurs after 9:30 PST, and nearly any time Saturday and Sunday. (prefer after noon and evening) Sunday Morning for Jake is Saturday evening/night for those of us in the states.
For me most of time is OK except saturday's daytime ( which should be early saturday morning in GMT) Oh, and not after midnight (which is between 3pm-9pm in GMT)
It seems like... 1:00pm on saturday in PST 3:00pm on saturday in EST 9:00pm on saturday in GMT+1 6:30am on sunday in GMT+9.5(and DTS+1) ...is quite acceptable? EPIC Time Zone!
Suna, that would be fine by me, perfect actually
Ok, Saturday at 3 EST works for me if Jake doesn't mind starting at 9. Given that, we can have 3 hour sessions every week, if that works with everyone.
Okay, both of us (me and my friend) agree with the time
Any chance I could join in on this one? I'm also very new to this and looking for a group c: I'm in GMT time, and Saturday at 8 would work for me if I was allowed to join :3
Charzard: Right now, I'm waiting to hear from Atrimis. If both he and his wife join, then yes, the game is full, I'd rather this not go over 5 people, that can get hectic, but I'd let you know if something opened up. If they say no, then there would be a nice spot open for you.
Okay, sounds good ^-^ Thanks for the reply c:
3pm EST is actually 12pm PST, but my wife and I are both fine with this idea! So now I guess we get our characters made, and put them up on the roll 20 campaign page? I forgot that GMT is it's on time, so +1 is 10 hours ahead of us. But no biggie.
I am wondering which classes you guys want to play? I played most of them before, so I wouldn't mind if you choose first.
Ok, if we're all ready, then I would like to take a week to build characters and let me set up a campaign and we can begin Jan 12, a week from Saturday. You can either create your character on myth-weavers <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/forumhome.php" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/forumhome.php</a> and send me the link or email me your sheet at <a href="mailto:waldok2@optonline.net" rel="nofollow">waldok2@optonline.net</a>. In addition to your character's stats, I would also like to ask that you include something. One is character background that includes an overarching goal for your character. It can be anything you like, I would just like you to have one. If your goal is something like "to be rich" or "to seek out adventures" why? This helps me as a DM to tailor the campaign more for your characters and I've found it helps people to roleplay a little bit. Thanks.
How do we decide the stats? Roll or points buy? And I guess we are level 1?
Yes, everyone starts at level 1. I would normally allow you guys to roll, but I don't see a way to do that, so I'm going to use a buy points system. You have 28 points to spend and refer to the chart below for values.: Ability Score Point Cost 9 1 10 2 11 3 12 4 13 5 14 6 15 8 16 10 17 13 18 16
Again, if there's any confusion or you guys would all rather meet to roll stats, let me know.
in case the chart is hard to read: Ability Score ////// Point Cost 9 = 1 10 = 2 11 = 3 12 = 4 13 = 5 14 = 6 15 = 8 16 = 10 17 = 13 18 = 16
And how much money we start with?
Your class's max amount.
Ouch class amount of gold sucks for some of us. What races are accepted for characters? And we should mention a few classes so that we don't end up with duplicates. Also that total is slightly lower than the standard array I am used to (16, 14, 13, 12, 11, and 10) but I can reach this with a total of 30 points, however, if you're set on 28, I'll make due as the extra modifier won't kill me any :P I can probably make due, but I'm used to that array, which is based off of a 22 point purchase system, with your starting stats as 10,10,10,10,10,8... Do we roll for starting HP, or begin with max possible?
well, I want to try Druid or Paladin
I could go as a rogue. Are you planning to be our healer as your pally? Otherwise I can roll a cleric.
Druid or Paladin is for fun, because I don't have many chances to play them. Most of time I played rouge/bard or wizard/sorcerer. I think a real healer should be a cleric. Other class never heal enough...
I think i'm gonna roll as a ranger...always wanted to try it out, if everyone is fine with that, of course.
Atrimis: I am unsure what races are mentioned in what books, but if you want to play something outside of the regular player's handbook let me know, and I'll probably be fine with it. Off the top of my head, though, I am banning all centaurs, bugbears, goblins, hobgoblins, Jaan, and Rakshasa. I will allow 30 points if people have problems with 28. Jake and Suna: either of those classes are fine, just make sure you work it out with the other members of your party. Jake, your ranger should be fine, but if Atrimis decides to play a rogue, he might become superfluous in battle. Just work that out with Atrimis first.
Well rogue can go either stabby or shooty as long as the shooty is within 30 yrds. Rangers can slashy or shooty, as well, so it just depends on what kind of ranger Jake wants to be. Like I said, I can be a cleric if no one else wants to keep us alive :P My wife said she'd roll a Sorcerer. It's a class she doesn't have extensive use with, so it seams like though many of us are veteran gamers, we're all trying new things. Sounds like a good game to me! I'm thinking about being a bow Rogue, but I can just as easily pick a two-weapon rogue (Yes warriors and Rangers get a better BAB, but they don't have trap sense) based on what Jake wants to do. Oh are we using the encumbrance rule? I've ran with some DM's that do, and some that don't. I just need to know if I need to maybe drop some items or buy a pack mule.
I'll be honest, I'd rather go bow ranger :P but if all else fails, I can be the cleric (though i suck as a healer to be honest)
Nah, that's cool. I'll go as a Cleric. Won't take me long to whip up the new character sheet. Also Shadow said if we all want to go with 30 character points... or is the vote for 28?
Ok, so Jake has a bow Ranger, Atrimis is a Cleric and his wife is a Sorceror. That means we're just waiting on Suna and Jake's friend. And, after going over it, I will up the point limit to 30. I think that's more fair. Also, Jake and Atrimis, will your friend and spouse respectively be using their own accounts or playing on yours? It might be easier if they had their own accounts and computers, but if that's not doable or makes them uncomfortable, I can live without it.
I guess we need a canned Paladin in the front. I'll do that.
Done. <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=492493" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=492493</a> Here is my background: Brooke was an orphan being abandoned in front of the Temple of St. Cuthbert. He was raised by the priests and loving stories about how Cuthbert punished bad guys.Brooke was a big boy even when he was in childhood. He was the leader of kids in the street and they loved playing for justice, for example, beating a bad dog which was chasing a poor cat. After Brooke grew up, the small justices around home cannot satisfy him anymore. He realized that there are lots of unfair things happening everywhere in the world, more than he imagined. He wants to help more people, and the priests are agree to this idea. As Brook is an adult now, they think it's a good time to send him to look at the world now. BTW, Brook always wanders who are his parents and why they abandoned him. But he never ask the priests or talk about it. ( sunddenly I feel this character is very easy to face "Luke, I'm your father" situation....
This all looks good, Suna. I'm sure Brooke will be a great addition to the party. Also, this is for everyone, please do not worry about weights. This is technically a beginner friendly group and I don't want people worrying about going over a weight limit. Obviously, I will keep this within reason. A halfling will not be able to lift a giant marble statue, or anything ridiculous, I just don't want this to become an issue.
(Atri's wife here) so we are going with 30 points for characters? I'll read the rest of the discussion once my brain stops bleeding, stupid head ache.
Nice to hear from you, and yes, we are going with 30 points.
My wife will be on her own account and computer, so no worries there. Okay then, last question is how realistic is this campaign supposed to be? I mean, do I need to get camping supplies and rations or not? :P I was wondering about the weight limit. Granted my starting gear only put me into medium weight, but that drops my movement from 30 to 20ft. Then again, rogues don't have much strength, and the Cleric will have more :P
Weight is being completely ignored except in cases where it would be ridiculous. For instance, if you start carrying an elephant or something. Otherwise, ignore it and all hindering effects. As for items, yes, get rations and camping supplies. However, assume you just have all carrying devices (backpacks, jars, small sacks, etc.).
Ah. A backpack is only 2g though :P But that's fine. Worse case scenario I was gonna get an 8g mule to carry all my stuff, which as long as it's not carrying over 231 lbs, it can move at 30, like the players... I'll just make sure to keep an extra 10g aside to get one in case we need it later.
