Noobies looking for a group (FULL)

My paladin looks like this...
Wow, cool, did you draw that?
Yep, I wasted all my afternoon on it
I was wondering if, as a Neutral Cleric, if I you would be alright with me worshiping Alastor. He's a minor diety of balance (<a href="http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Alastor" rel="nofollow">http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Alastor</a>) I'd take the destruction and healing domains, but my spontaneous casting as well as well as my turn/rebuke would be focused on Healing (So I'd turn, and then destroy undead.) Any complaints and I'll figure something else out. Edit: Oh Alastor is a good deity, so I'd have to take cure/turn.
It sounds good. Just note, any mythology around Alastor may have to change to fit my campaign, though. I do not know of the deity, but he's a good God, he doesn't seem to grant any unbalanced ability or any major changes, so yeah, I'll allow it.
As long as he's about the balance between Lawfulness and Chaos, he'll fit into any setting quite well. The funny thing is, I actually don't get a bonus feat or weapon focus, since his favored weapon is a sword bathed in flames. Lol.
So every time before you swing your sword, you need to put it into fire to "purify"... and that takes a full round
My friend will be using his own account, he says he wants to roll as a rogue
Suna where did you read that at? It just says that the "cleric makes it a point of pride to wield his deity's chosen weapon" and since a flaming is a +1 bonus it will be a while until my character can wield his deity's weapon with pride... at least that's how I read it... Oh it says "blade endowed with flame"
I was just kidding... Actually in Greyhawk campaign setting, if you play a baklunish character, you can roll a table for role-playing taboos. For example, you have to dip your weapon into water after battle, or you don't kill creatures on special days. The "purify" idea is the same thing ;p. Just some role playing flavor, not a rule. And I also think, if your character spend some time to apply oil on your sword before a battle and light it in battle, maybe shadow will allow you to have a "fire sword" for 1 or 2 rounds... XD
Nice... bonuses to atk and damage for wielding Alastor's weapon! XD Nah, I'll just quest for a flaming blade of some sort.
<a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=492609" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=492609</a> Background: Kelitan's parents had to flee their homeland to escape an Orc invasion. His father was killed, and his mother was injured. Still young himself, Kelitan left her side to find a way to restore her body, now broken from the assault. His journey took him far from the elven lands, where he met a traveling human cleric named Dayren that followed the guide of Pelor. Dayren taught him the ways of Pelor, and being a cleric, which he used to heal his mother. He worshiped Pelor for years, but the connection never felt right; though Orcs had invaded his homeland, he felt them no ill will, unlike the clerics of Pelor made him believe. Nearing adulthood, he left to travel the realm to find a deity that truly spoke to him. This journey lead him to a twisted void in the land, where he knew there would be injured. As he had never stopped helping those in need, he searched for the source of this maelstrom. After rescuing a family of gnomes, he fell into the void, a portal to a forgotten land. Here he discovered several clerics worshiping Alastor, the god of balance. They taught him about keeping the balance between order and chaos, and Kelitan knew he had found a god to worship. After finding himself in Alastor's favor, he knew his time to help keep the balance between the peoples of the material realm had come.
Woops i screwed up, he rolled as a fighter :P my bad *Facepalm* i'll give you our character sheets as soon as we figure out a cool backstory. Question: can our backstories collide? for example if we met eachother before etc.
A fighter, huh? I hope we don't run into any traps then :P
Are rangers not good at looking for traps? :P
Rangers are not ideal traps disablers. Disable Device is a skill that rogues get and Rangers do not. And yes, your characters may have backstories that coincide or where you have met/been travelling with the other player before.
Just wondering if you have room in the group for 1 more? I prefer playing a bard if we are allowed access to the books like (dragon magic, frostburn etc) if not I could play a standard rogue.
Sorry, POM, but we are full up right now.
Your character is clear, Atrimis.
<a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=492324" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=492324</a> Here you go, shadow, my sheet Let me know if there's anything wrong Backstory: Lariviel was born to an elven woman named Morélothima and an elven man named Galanodel (moonwhisper). Lariviel was his birth name and he has yet to reach 100 years so he can pick his own. His birth village and clan were full of experienced hunters and druids. He always looked up to them and spent a lot of time training himself in the arts of archery and herbalism. He soon learned about all the flowers and herbs in the area one way or the other (which involved him consuming them and more often than not paying the price for it). It was on his 28th birthday that he first caught a deer after many failed attempts. His celebrating of becoming a hunter didn't last long, as his clan fell into a conflict with the nomad orcs, which claimed a large part of the forest for themselves. His village was found and burnt down, however all the elves got out without a casualty. Lariviel, after 10 more years of training, returned to his home, finding that it has been turned into a wasteland - burnt down trees, skeletons of animals and the smell of ash. He spent the next 3 years hunting for this orc tribe, but found out it's been gone for a long time. Since then he walks from forest to forest, taking care of any issues, whether it is an injured animal or a dangerous predator. He stays away from human settlements if possible, but goes there every so often for supplies and medicine.
No rouge? No problem! Your brave paladin will step on traps to clear the road for others.
Not sure why Jake, but Myth-Weavers isn't letting me read your sheet.
Actually it won't let me either. And Suna, that's fine. You can trigger all the traps and I'll heal ya up :P
oh crap, forgot to putit on public :P my bad
try again now, otherwise i can just use something else
I love this thread, this will be a fun group I bet. Suna cracks me up
Ok, Jake I can read your sheet now. It mostly looks good, however, if you're going to be this ranged dependent I would recommend taking Point Blank Shot instead of Quick Draw. This way you can get Precise Shot for your next feat at lvl 3 and that will be much more useful. Trust me, the -4 penalty for shooting into combat can be brutal.
okay, thanks for the advice shadow :D
No problem. Also, what two knowledges are you putting points in. I assume one is Knowledge (Nature) but what's the other. Also, you alter the skill name to write it in.
it's geography, i fixed it, so it should now say the name of the knowledge
Thanks, I saw. That should be fine.
Sorry I read your sheets and I can't stop imagine this scene....
ROFLMAO omg can I save that? That made me lol so loud.
Yes, I hope you like your fire sword...XD
He he, okay I'm glad Atrimis made me look at the picture... I wonder... since Atrimis is playing an elf... if this picture I drew would work for his char... too much armor? <a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v203/MichiruAnnette/Savitar.jpg" rel="nofollow">http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v203/MichiruAnnette/Savitar.jpg</a>
He is a powerful elf with Str 14, heavy armor would not do harm to him... even he doesn't have money to buy it yet, but he will dress like that later, I guess. And I LOVE your armor design! Very impressive!
Suna i laughed my ass off at that pic xD you guys are awesome at drawing, i feel kind of ashamed now when i look at my pictures haha
I now have a mission as a DM, to get Kelitan a fire sword.
Yay! Then again at the moment Kel doesn't know that his future companion is going to be afraid of fire! Oh, and feel free to give me a re-occuring nemesis... like maybe a specific orc/half orc from the raid, or a cleric from the old chruch... maybe he tried to stop me, and in doing so lost his connection to Pelor, so he took up with a dark deity to try and kill me. I'd love to have a nemesis!
And here am I, the second of the noobies mentioned in the title. here is my character sheet: <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=493790" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=493790</a> And some flavor text to go with it: Kardos's birth was already prophecised to be something bad. On the day of his birth, his whole family was killed next to him. The people who killed them, didn't notice Kardos because he was just a baby. He was found a week later by an old woman which brought him to an orphanage. After a year of living there, the orphanage was raided by an enemies kingdom troops. The orpahanage was burnt down and Kardos was taken away. As soon as he could walk and run properly he was handed a sword. Through the years of training he became accustomated to a fighting style using two swords. Since then fighting was all that he knew and all that he cared about. He was severly punished for every mistake he made on the battlefield and he never got rewarded. Kardos, now being 22 years old, got wounded in a battle and his commander decided that he is now useless. They discarded him and left him with just his pants and his two swords. Now he is off to seek new battles.
This guy lying there with only his pants and two swords....and a pouch with 190gp in it!!! ... 190gp are about 4lb...that must be a huge pouch...If I was a thief, I would not ignore it... Oh I need to draw this too!
i told him, but he wouldn't listen to my reasoning XD
He is supposed to be a mix of zorro from one piece and guts from berserk... for the drawing purposes. And he was still getting paid while in the army, just didn't spend much of it.
Kardos: A couple things to fix. First, and tell Jake this two, cause I missed it when checking his sheet, you guys do get bonuses to your saves (Fortitude, Reflex, Will) from your class. You get a +2 to Fortitude and Lariviel (Jake) gets +2s to Fortitude and Reflex. You mark these in the Base section. Second, you gave your guy Two-Weapon Defense so he should get a +1 AC point where it says shield. That gives him a 17 AC. Third, your character is ferociously understocked for the journey. I get that that's part of your backstory, but the supplies aren't just for fun, they will come up. I would highly recommend getting at least a bedroll and waterskin. Fourth, I will admit to not fully knowing the Two-Weapon rules, so maybe another player can help me with this, but I believe you can still add your attack bonus, so, going by this sheet, that puts your attack at -1,-1. If this is not the case, I would recommend swapping out one of your Longswords for a short sword or other light weapon. A minus -4 penalty, even with two attacks can be crippling. I frankly would even recommend doing this even if you did add your attack modifier, to get you into the positives, but a -1,-1 is at least livable, and you would improve. It's your decision, that's just my advice, and I would like other players to let me know if any of this information is false. Otherwise, it's fine. I am not too familiar with Lough, but she seems like a fine Deity. I am surprised Kardos would choose a nature deity over a war god like Corellon, but he's your character.
Thanks for all the advice shadow. Totally forgot about the waterskin, but the bedroll didn't seem necessary to me, he was raised in a spartan way. When I remembered that I need a deity I just wanted to pick one which will grant me the most fun(going STOP! in the mid of a battle because someone wanted to stop on a flower xD). Jake also advised me to have one short sword, but I'm set on the two long sword style(wanted a three sword style *hint hint* but it was too obvious and not possible). Will fix the other things though, thanks for everything.
To start... 2 weapon fighting with equal weight weapons is -4/-4. (The smart thing would be for a light weapon in his off hand (-2/-2 instead) However he'd still get his strength bonus, making this (-1/-3 as offhand attacks only receive half your str as bonus) His BAB would make it 0/-3 and weapon focus would make it +1/-2. However a lighter weapon in the off hand would balance you to +3/-0 Since you wouldn't have the bonus from weapon focus for the off hand weapon. Ranger was my second option. Also from the PHB- Page 131: Clothing - Different characters may want different outfits for various occasions. A beginning character is assumed to have an artisan's, entertainer's, explorer's, monk's, peasant's, scholar's, or traveler's outfit. This first outfit is free and does not count against the amount of weight a character can carry. Even an orphan would have been given at least a peasant's outfit. Oh and being left alone for a week probably would kill a baby. And I still prefer the original translation of Roronoa Zolo. That's how it was first translated in the American version in Shonen Jump, because all I think of when I see Zoro is Antino Bandetias with a black cloak and a bandana over the top of his head. Suna it's funny that you drew Kel holding the blade in his left hand... I don't even remember telling you that he was a lefty, but yes, he is.
About the two weapon. Kardos has a +1 on BAB which is not on the sheet either, so his melee bonus shoud be +4. And he has weapon focus, so with long sword attack bonus is +5. Two weapon fighting feat makes each hand -4, so he should still have +1 left edit: Atrimis is right, I forgot the off hand only has half str bonus. But don't forget the BAB edit edit: Wait! If you have two weapon fighting feat, do you have a off hand?
Yea, you always have an off hand, the penalty is just lessened for attacks made with your off hand. The rules for it are on page 160 in the standard 3.5 PHB if you want to double check my math.
That chart I saw said that Two-Weapon Fighting Feat balanced it out to -4/-4. I do not know if that removes the off-hand effects. If it doesn't, that would make his attack a -1/-3 and weapon focus would get him a 0/-2. I found the chart here: <a href="http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Two-Weapon_Fighting" rel="nofollow">http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Two-Weapon_Fighting</a>
My recommendation remains that Kardos switch to a lighter off-hand weapon, but it's his character, not mine.
