Map Layer Coloration

Is there a way to recolor my map's environment or add a tint to it? I'd love to be able to give my current dungeon a slight red tint over an asset and combination of assets I'm using such as inter-connected dungeon pieces.

If you go to it's layer, then double click it, there should be a tint color option. You'll need to do this for each different piece
Ah. Neat! Okay. That box at the left side of the token pop-up is so easy to miss.
My original idea was to just make a semi-opaque box of color to overlay on the map layer like so.

I use and recommend the Tint method as well, like Franky said. It's not obvious at first but graphics/objects on the Map layer can take a Tint on their token settings tab! Wiki docs for this, https://wiki.roll20.net/Token_Features#Tint_Color_... Alternately, if you get into the semi-transparent overlay method as-in Jebediah's latest post, with that method you can also do effects like rain, fog, sandstorm, snow. Environmental Effects 1 overlay pack from Marketplace, https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/set/539/envi.. You probably could combine the methods, adding different tints to your semi-transparent overlay, if you want to take that approach.

I use transparent overlays with tints applied to lend my maps a new atmosphere, I have some with mist on, some fully clear and some with various other effects similar to the pack linked above (which I wish I'd found before making my own lol). It works really well but remember that if you need to interact with anything on the map layer at all it is a pain to have to send the overlay to the back (or to another layer), do what needs doing, and move the overlay back again without ruining the illusion for your players... an easy solution is to have interactive elements on the token layer but then they aren't subject to the tint unless you manually apply it to them as well... Cost/benefit analysis required i guess :)

Anyone come up with a good way to have the overlay on the token layer so players tokens are affected as well?
The players can only interact with tokens they control, so your atmospheric affect overlays wouldn't hinder them accessing their tokens. It would however prevent GM from interacting with them. In those cases I would move it to the back temporarily and access the token I need . I do hope we get an overlay layer at some point soon. It's the #1 suggestion

Yep, And it's already got my vote. And wasn't worried about the players for the same reason you mention, was worried about me being able to GM effectively. Maybe I'll have to play around with the token lock script and see if that helps.
