In Regards to SoundCloud

I am not a poster by nature. I like what i like, i play the way i play, i have no time for spouting off just to be heard I used the available jukebox heavily...to set mood and emphasize key moments within a given scene/encounter. I was not fond of the interface of soundcloud but i made it work Since Sound Cloud does not seem value Roll20.net market any more, i hate to say it this way... i can not stress it enough that you move forward and work with an entity that tailors itself to what in my opinion flows hand in hand with Roll20s Goals and Syrinscapes Goals. I understand how the handling of finances might be at first, but consider this 1- in-compass both services as a single package and work out the costs behind the scenes -or- 2- over lap interaction as a selectable option where Roll20.net subscribers can activate a Syrinscape account for a significant discount and vice versa with limited interaction (trial run), when successful move back to option 1 or a more permanent version 2 in the end either way will benefit both communities, by broaden the overall experience of the communities virtual games, open traditional table toppers to additional avenues of game play and now GMs/players/spectators will have a customizable virtual soundboard to work with along side a customizable virtual tabletop. "A waterfall starts with but a single drop...combine your streams and lets hear the combined roar" Make it happen

I'm truly heart broken. The Soundcloud integration really added an awesome dimension to the Roll20 experience. It was Roll20 that introduced me to Soundcloud in the first place and I visited the website very often in hopes of finding new songs for my games on a very consistent biases. Seems to me there are a few options: 1. Make the Souncloud feature a paid service. Obviously this still requires Soundcloud to sanction this solution. 2. Allow players to upload audio files in the same manner as they do with images. 3. Find some other alternative service similar to Souncloud for integration. 4. Let people find their own solutions. I personally prefer solution #1 as I believe the service is worth paying for. Soundcloud just has an extensive library. In fact however Roll20 could pursue all options. It could have another provider (#3) and offer a paid service (#1) at the same time. I'm willing to pay by the gig.
Why not integrate Youtube instead? Why not upload your own tracks in the jukebox?
UGH me and my players are seriously ticked off at this, I had over 100 sounds each that were hand picked to a town, city or location in our game and now we don't have anything. Our sessions are kinda getting screwed over now so it really has impacted us in a negative way. I'm at a loss why sound cloud decided to cut roll20 usage and I'm not too excited with battle bards, don't get me wrong they have a really cool service going but $30 for 60 sounds!?! that's absurd we can't afford that and if it comes down to it we are either gonna have to find 3rd party programs or find alternative DnD solutions because I'm not gonna shell out what little cash I have for the sound of feet shuffling. I'm honestly not gonna bother with Battle Bards if It comes down to me and my players having to scam ourselves for so little. So as a very frequent DM on roll20 I have to say that I honestly think that it would be the best for everyone if you guys designed your own audio upload service that would allow us to get our own music. I understand that you guys are against audio uploading but I think with a good team of programmers and a crack lawyer you guys could handle it in such a way that it would be an improvement over sound cloud. I'm very concerned about the future of our DnD campaign Ive invested 1000's of my own time in and need to know right away if this is gonna work out for you guys and your player base. Thanks for listening to my rambling, idc if this is the wrong place in the fourms, I just needed to vent.
I had found a Legend of Zelda RPG game I wanted to use Roll20 to play. I had made maps, character sheets, and set up a long playlist for use using songs from the series. Now, all of that is ruined. I was super excited for this game, as it would be my third attempt to GM a game/session. There is now no possible way for me to use Zelda music, therefore ruining the entire experience. My friends and I are seriously considering taking our games elsewhere if this doesn't change. I don't care if it's soundcloud or not, just some way to get GOOD music back.
The loss of sound cloud should be seen as a sign that 3rd party intergration may not be the way forward. However i would suggest if Roll20 persues this path then an entity like Syrinscape would be useful although I think they should look at creating their own in house SFX.

Gutted. A real shame. However, the game must go on!!!
Today we rolled out an update that features another new partner (BattleBards) with built-in tracks, as well as the integration of FanBurst, which allows unlimited music uploading and streaming. If you have feedback on the new options please post in that thread. Thanks!

So no worries about having to pay $30 (or anything really) to enjoy their tracks. (Which is nice since I too would have issue paying that much for 60 sounds)

If you have feedback on the new options please post in that thread. Thanks! I looked at FanBurst, but it looks like you can only upload stuff you create yourself, which can be a bit of a problem for many. This is further problematic because once you upload to them, it seems to be available for anyone, which is not what many of us are looking for. I, for one, am looking for something where I can provide music and other sound effects that I have purchased only to people in my games. And not just for fantasy games (which BattleBards seems to be specializing in). I appreciate how hard it is to come up with solutions here, and how things got to this point. I also appreciate how hard you guys have been working to facilitate a solution. I'd like to echo what others have said about Syrinescape as one avenue (hopefully) of many that we will eventually be able to chose from. Certainly, if I can ever gather a group here at home for a tabletop game, I plan to have that service up and running, so it would be nice to be able to not have to juggle multiple platforms across different playing locations. But ultimately, I just hope you guys aren't done yet and that you will be working on trying to facilitate solutions for all of us. Thanks for making this service the best place for gamers!
Personally, I think leaving SoundCloud out altogether would be a better idea. Maybe have a system where either music can be uploaded much like image files, or you can use Youtube links to direct audio to the table.
Would it be at all possible to put in some button that removes those tracks completely? I have hundreds listed in my games in a number of playlists and it just took the longest time to remove all of them from one game. I know you guys have a lot going on, just a shit thing to happen.
Possibly, an integration similar to the way voice works might be possible, rewiring the currently used voice plugin to run with a different input device, allowing users to stream music from their own system. I'm sure there's plugins for that around somewhere, and though it might be a bit tough on bandwidth, this would circumvent both legal issues and storage issues.

this is a little upsetting... but i feel like the new jukebox is bad-ass! i dead a campain with my gm last night ... and we were preatty bummed about the loss of sound cloud... but the new jukebox has a lot of variety ^_^ anyway.... i hope things end up well...
Not cool.
The new jukebox (I have browsed all the channels) seem to focus much more heavily on ambient and light music tracks. Has anyone found any real music for battles or encounters? I can only find real battles (with SFX) or very mellow slow paced stuff. Not pleased about the loss of soundcloud :(

There's been some suggestions on the Incompetech announcement thread for tracks that may help depending on your setting. https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/4039327/new-audi... Other than that, people who posted music on Soundcloud are already moving over to Fanburst, so your best option there is to keep an eye on posts in the forum or search every so often on Fanburst or if you have music of your own, upload it to Fanburst. Remember, as the devs have said many times, they were not the ones to stop access to Soundcloud, Soundcloud stopped roll20's access. It sucks, but the new additions to the Jukebox are overall an improvement on the old system.
