-The Game- Playing with a homebrew system. The game will consist of a persistent PC based at an airfield on the frontline of a war versus a plethora of foes. I am looking for any number of testers that will be helpful and fun and recognize that this is a test. I encourage everyone to give it a shot and am really looking to make a unique and fun game world while testing a system of my design. The game doesn't put much forth in the form of mechanical roleplaying but is a relatively straightforward D20 system featuring high speed eastern-style mechs fighting not only modern armor and infantry, but each other. The game has been through multiple iterations and continues to get better. As I get the mechanics settled I am looking for people to help build the background to the game. Sessions will be ran in episodic drop in/drop out fashion throughout the week. So if certain days work best, you should let me know. -The Setting- In the year 2067 the Earth has been through a number of political, economic, and military changes. The United States of America has absorbed all of South America following the asteroid incident in 2043. With South America in anarchy and devastated by the large asteroid, along with the new materials present in the asteroid prompted the United States to take a hard approach to supporting the wounded South American countries. Following a number of years where many countries spent time as providences of the United States, in 2054 the United States had a massive increase to States now present in their conglomerate. The official number of States in the United States of America has increased to 62, including such countries as Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil, and Argentina. The other countries of South America are territories, along with the United States’ old territories. With access to new materials and opportunities, the United States has entered a new era of economic supremacy in both goods and services. The United States military now features high quality northern units and high quantity and specialist guerillas southern units, permitting a high level of combat adaptability across the globe with relative ease. Feeling pressured by the growth of the United States, Canada sought tighter alliances and found it in Europe. The French officially signed the Joint-Sovereignty of Canada and France. Normally referred to as CanFra. The coalition prides itself on its drone force capabilities and its infantry, using their vehicles primarily as taxis for their elite heavy infantry. CanFra and the United States have experienced minor political squabbles over rights to asteroid pieces scattered along the border but no major conflicts or problems have arose. The European Union has been engaged in intra-national conflicts for the past three decades. Religious differences between residents and immigrants from the east has caused violent conflict. Preoccupied with advancing their technology against increasingly well armed and trained irregulars, their armored vehicles capabilities are somewhat lacking in the firepower department but excel in their defenses and survivability. With the conflict ever present within their borders, the EU military is decently balanced spread throughout its host nations and have incredible levels of force integration as their forces must rely on speedy and precise communication. As more and more states combine to form larger superpower coalitions, Asia and the Middle East experienced the same pull towards unity. However, they experienced worse luck and performed poorly. Coalitions such as the Central Asian Coalition or United Middle Eastern Front are performing shakily at best. Their military forces are not trained to function together and basic mindsets and beliefs among the host nations are quite different, leading to issues with the coalitions advancing their technology. Second rate coalitions (SRCs) are widespread but many feature technology that was barely considered capable in 2040s. Export equipment is becoming exceedingly rare with new arms races underway. Russia and China insist on operating independently and in 2044 committed to a 6 month conflict against each other in attempts to acquire as much asteroid debris as possible. Though resolved with a cease-fire, the two powers are still at war officially, just as North Korea and the United States are. The Joint African Confederation began as a union of military forces between Algeria, Egypt, and Libya to combat anarchy in the middle east that began in earlier in the century. Following its suppression, the JAC turned its eye to growing its power. 2066 saw the JAC attack Sudan and Eritrea. Sudan fell and the assault on Eritrea is ongoing. Should the JAC manage to secure the entirety of the border of the Red Sea will provide them an unrivaled control of the all important Suez Canal. CanFra and the US are likely to soon be involved in the African conflict in some capacity. East Asian countries and the political situations of the area are primarily unchanged. This includes South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and North Korea. One exception to this is Japan, whose water supply is becoming dangerously irradiated due to improper usage of hydro-nuclear technology. What effects the increased radiation has on the area, and its occupants, is being evaluated currently. The asteroid that impacted in 2043 was spotted 6 years prior to impact so ways to destroy it or divert it were immediately put into development world wide. In the end, there were no valid options for complete destruction and complete redirection. when the USA determined that it would be impacted by it, it deployed an awe-inspiring amount of ordnance into space to break up the asteroid before it entered the atmosphere. While it worked and the USA was spared near annihilation, the asteroid still had parts large enough to deal serious damage to large territories. Eastern Russia and China got hit worst by large debris but the majority of the radioactive debris ended up in South America. SA couldn't handle such large amounts of radioactive waste and the US was interested in acquiring as much of it as possible so it stepped up to the plate. This lead to the inclusion of all South American states to the USA. The asteroid’s properties are being investigated still and any advances involving it have not been made public. Another casualty of the asteroid was the United Nations, as political fields heated up, the UN became divided, and with the beginning of the war between China and Russia, and the lack of cooperation between many other member nations, was dissolved 2044. Orbit provided many options for military forces. While satellites have been present for more than a century, weapon systems and even military forces find themselves in space. The Russians were the first to place militants in orbit. Using their continued space program, they constructed an installation that can hold a platoon of soldiers, often these bunks were occupied by elite forces that would deploy by re-entry capsules to perform emergency operations around the globe. It didn’t take long for the US, EU, and China to place their own forces in space. China and Russia are the only two countries that have actually performed military actions in space and their infantry units stationed there met in battle on at least three separate occasions and ended with Russia occupying one of the Chinese stations.
