[LFP] Path of the Damned

(5E campaign, Wednesdays at 7 CST) The Old World is a brutal place, and calls for brutal champions to deliver it from destruction. You may not be heroes, but heroes don't tend to last long in the land of the Warhammer. Take up arms, embrace your new duties, and help save the Empire of Man from utter ruin. But be warned, walking the Path of the Damned is not easy. It may end up costing you everything. - - -  Hola! My name is Brayden, I've been DMing for about five years. I want to run a D&D 5th Edition campaign in the setting of Warhammer, because those are two things I'm nuts about right now. Don't know about either, or both? No problem! All I need are players with good attitudes, an interest in telling great stories, and a willingness to play with a group. And, when it comes to this campaign, having a good sense of maturity is important as well. Why? Because in this campaign, we're going to be playing villains! Of a sort, anyway. Your characters will be forced into a Suicide Squad-ish situation... that is, despite their preferences, they're going to be conscripted into doing the good guy's dirty work. You'll be playing bad people doing good things, or bad people doing bad things. You've got free rein to get the job done, but that being said, I would prefer this campaign not turn into a villager slaughter-fest from one end of the world to the other. Not without it being entertaining, at least. Here's what you need to apply: 1) Name! 2) Timezone! 3) Experience with tabletop RPGs / roll20 4) Character Concept! Anything from the Player's Handbook is allowed, anything else will need my approval. We're not playing in the exact setting of Warhammer, more like a D&D-ified version of the setting. So don't feel restricted by the fact we're playing in an established world! Go nuts, please. 5) Describe to me what your perfect campaign looks like. Doesn't have to be exhaustive, but give me an idea of what you look for in a game. RP-heavy, combat-heavy, rules light, rules intensive, difficult but fair, casual and fun, you name it. 6) Any questions for me?

1) Wymsy 2) GMT+9 3) A bit of on & off experience with Roll20, mostly in Only War/Dark Heresy & 5e. My personal gaming experience is pretty eclectic - about 4 years of a mixture of FFG Rogue Trader / Only War / Dark Heresy 1 & 2, a wee bit of Pathfinder & 5e, a touch of WHFRP2E and a light sprinkling of Delta Green / Paranoia! 4) I'd like to Burn Some Witches, as a good self-appointed vigilante in a militant semi-religious order should. I want the hat, torch and mouth-frothing zeal of the righteous. Possibly with a personal hidden mutation down the track! The hypocrisy of the righteous and smell of charred witch-flesh. Perfect way to start your day. 5) I like me some lethal combat at opportune times, with a mechanical focus to reinforce brutality, but a more narrative approach when it comes to intrigues and skulduggery. I like both of the latter in heavy slatherings in my campaigns. Combat when it matters, narratively. I'm also a massive fan of ritual magic, exploration of doctrinal religious differences (even fictional ones!) and corruption / insanity meters. A little kafkaesque bureaucracy helps lighten the mood. A low / flattish power level is also a must! The added experience should add up to cool stuff, contacts, gear and knowledge, rather than suddenly finding a +1 sword of bapping and the ability to shoot laserbeams from your eyes.   6) Why use 5E rather than WHFRP2 or a more available low fantasy hack (say Zweihander or Low Fantasy Gaming?) How do you plan to balance the power level of 5E / onion death while remaining true to a gritty setting?

1) George 2) EST (UTC-5) 3) Played 2 other 5e Campaigns, currently DMing a campaign for my friends, Use Roll20 for mapping. 4) I am not very familiar with the Warhammer Universe, but am Willing to learn. I think playing a Human Bard, cataloging the history of the world; and of our noble and necessary deads; Telling history from the views of the victors as it were. aside from that, lie, cheat, steal, and seduce to get what we need done and done our way. 5) I like difficult, but fair scenarios; focusing more on the RP, but ready to have good combat encounters when talking isn't enough;for rules, I prefer rule consistency more than anything. If something happens one way, it should always happen that way unless it has to change because of unseen balance issues. If it is expedient to call a fight over when they are pretty much dead, or give a cinamatic coup de grâce on a crit that would just almost kill, then go for it. Useful artisanal skills are cool too imo for something to do during down time. 6) Discord for voice, or using roll20 voice/text?
