So if you drag say "longsword" from the character sheet you can drop it to the quick bar. Anyway to add more lines of script to the macro like "/em attacks with a mighty blow" or add images and gifs without having to write the script wholecloth?
You can copy that code into a new macro. /em whatever Then the code Simple replace the old dragged macro with the new version
Easy way to get the code exactly how it is in the character sheet is to click the button on the character sheet and then click the up arrow while in the chat window.

Thanks! That seems to work Kyle.
Also if the macro is character specific, I highly recommend creating it as a character ability (on the Attributes & Abilities tab of the character sheet). This way it will only apply to the individual character instead of potentially being used by everyone. Regardless of whether you create the macro as a global macro (in the macro tab of the chat window) or a character ability, you can specify whether the macro is a token action or should appear the the macro bar. Again if it is specific to a character, I would recommend using the macro as a token action because it causes less clutter on the screen since the button will only appear when you have to correct token selected. If you are a GM, these areas can become cluttered quite easily.
