Granted the Roll20 application may not need to be the end all be it all of voice communication packages, but, is there a way to allow my vocals to be seen by only 1 player? Indeed, the entire concept of chatting should be configurable as channelled to a single player or player group. So that underscores the need for a chat channel multi-tabbed setup. I think ideally that could be pulled apart in a new browser window or frame on the pc so that a user could have one screen or some screen real-estate devoted to the game and some to various chat tabs. By selecting a single button on a chat channel frame the gm could mute voice for all other chat channels and speak only to that group. This would isolate those players also in terms of speaking. From the player side they could speak only to the gm via a simple always present gm only chat frame button (maybe that button is always PTT because players would leave it on too often otherwise). The reason I say this is because during a live session there are MANY MANY times where skill results and information needs to be handed to a small group of players and NOT all players. There needs to be a fast efficient way to do this. Even the whisper functionality is far too slow. Tabbed configurable chat windows make chat logs more effective as well. That brings up the concept of a filtered log. For each post on a chat readout there should be a button that basically says, OMG save this. That should be saved by user by campaign by session into a highlights log that is the favorite stuff a player wants to save. This allows the player to filter out all the useless banter and test rolls and system mechanics and still keep only relevant historical campaign data.
