Greetings and salutations, citizens of Earth. I am honoured to stand before you today to officially unveil the Sentinels. In light of the most recent crisis, we have seen the perils and dangers of isolation. The terror of Khalymos was averted successfully, but how many dangers may still lurk in the shadows, biding their time? In a world that is, frankly, alien to us at this point, we must always look to the future… and prepare for whatever may come. To this end, the leaders of the civilised world have almost unanimously agreed to greenlight the Sentinels program. In light of the post-Skip rise in superpowered vigilantism, it was deemed necessary to not just regulate their behaviour, but use their gifts for the greater good of all the world, from the dankest kobold caverns to the mightiest danish warship. Human, orc, elf, demon, american, japanese, danish, male, female… none of these matter. The Sentinels’ primary goal shall be to act as the Shield of Civilisation, no matter the odds, no matter the cost. We hereby ask all of you who wish to aid us, gifted or otherwise, to apply for a spot in the Sentinels. For the future of this world depends on all of us. Thank you for your time. - Speech given by Darius Gnim during the official announcement of the Sentinels program After a scientific experiment gone horribly wrong, the Earth was flung across space, time and parallel universes during what is now known as the Dimensional Skip. With dozens of new races, classical or outlandish, fantastical magic and impossible technology, along with a few thousand new threats manifesting all over the globe, modern civilisation as you know it was thrown into absolute chaos. Things were held together only by the efforts of people suddenly gifted, or born with, superhuman abilities and even supernatural powers. And though these heroes were great, a single great crisis almost brought it all to an end. No one superhero could have stopped it and only by joining forces did they finally bring an end to the beast known as Khalymos. This lead to the establishment of the Sentinels, an international organisation dedicated to the protection of the world and all of its peoples. Though years have passed since these events, there is no shortage of dangers in this world. And with them, hand in hand, no shortage of opportunities for SUPERB HEROISM. It is your time to shine, Sentinel. --------------- Information Dump --------------- We play on weekends on saturday at 9 PM GMT+2 (currently on DST), with the next game being on the 6th of October, and we usually play between 3 and 5 hours. We are using a modified and rebalanced ruleset, a mixture between the Numenera and Cypher system rulesets, in an effort to accomodate the “everything and the kitchen sink” world design we have gone for. We are going for an atmosphere of a darker saturday morning cartoon, similar to Justice League, but it may evolve based on how the players interact with the universe. This means we hope to avoid senseless civilian slaughter, you sickos. We are a few sessions in, but not so far that it will be hard to catch up in terms of what has happened. Our current roster includes: A young Cat with a heavy Katana, a flair for hiding and an excellent disguise! An archer with a goal of vengeance, a hood darker than his heart, and an edge sharper than paper. An adaptable fighter whose body is his weapon, and his puppy eyes that have caught a heart. To apply, reply here or on our listing: https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/40569/sentinels-a-game-of-superb-heroism We’d like to know what attracted you to our game, what kind of character you’d like to play (no need to go into extreme detail, we would just like a short, snappy concept), what as a player you would bring to the group and what we can do for you.
