Veteran GM Seeks Young-At-Heart Enthusiastic In-Character Players For Heavy RP Campaign

Hey there, Lookers-For-Groups.  My name's Josiah, and I'm a long-time GM who has played and run a plethora of different systems and types of campaigns.  I put a lot of work into my games, do a ton of preparation, and really like telling stories and acting out many different characters.  (Including dodgy voice acting, which may be a blessing or a curse depending on your tastes.)  In short, I take being a GM seriously, and bring a lot of effort to the table to make things fun, engaging, and interesting for the players. My favorite thing about tabletop RPGs is in-character roleplaying.  I love for characters, both PCs and NPCs, to have depth and complexity, to be more than a sheet of stats with a paper-thin, throwaway backstory and little thought put into them.  I love the interactions between characters, the development of relationships between them, the evolution of each character as their experiences and the people they deal with change them over time.  I like talking in character, and narrating character actions with a little bit of storytelling flair, and I like it when the players at the table do the same thing. I'm looking for one or two more players for a heavy RP, in-character interaction-focused, specifically-themed campaign I have in the works.  I have a small handful of interested players already, but I'd like to broaden my pool of potentials and put together the best group possible.  The only hard requirement that I'm asking for is that you be eager to roleplay your character, to do so enthusiastically and with some depth. The campaign I'm going to run is strongly-themed around adolescent characters.  It's a game about teenagers, doing teenage things, feeling teenage feelings, making teenage decisions, and generally figuring themselves out and coming of age.  I am seeking players who are going to want to play this type of character, and who think they can portray a character of that age authentically. Players of all ages are welcome , you don't have to be a young person in real life to play as one.  Just be able to tap into that young-at-heart side of yourself, and embrace the adolescent theme of the game.  If you happen to be a younger player, and feel dismayed that so many games out there are only for older players, then this could possibly be just right for you.  But again, I am not only seeking players of a certain real-life age.  I did make a previous post where I asked for such players specifically, but I realize that was not a great idea, and have expanded my horizons accordingly.  All are welcome , if the game concept appeals to you. The game is LGBTQIA+ friendly, and I will strive to make it a safe and welcoming space for people from all walks of life.  Racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or other discriminatory speech will not be tolerated .  We can and will joke around and have fun, even when the events of the game itself are grim and serious, but that fun stops at the point where players are being made uncomfortable in real life by someone's comments.  So come prepared to be respectful and kind to everyone else at the table. This game will take place on Roll20, and will require the use of Discord and a microphone .  Roleplaying will be done using voices, not written text. So what is the campaign?  Read on. The Lost, The Broken, The Defiant This is a Cypher System game (very rules light and super easy to learn, no experience with the system needed or expected) set in a slightly alternate version of real-world Earth, in the contemporary year of 2020.  It's almost the normal world that we know.  Almost .  But in this campaign, the facade of normalcy will quickly fade, then shatter entirely. Strange and dark things happen beneath the surface, behind the curtains, in the shadows, around the corners.  The universe is a bigger and more complicated place than we have, until now, been aware.  But that is going to change.  We are not alone .  We are not necessarily the dominant species any longer.  And not every organization in this world operates in the light, nor are they all benevolent in their aims.  Conspiracy theories abound in our world, but in this version of Earth, the conspiracies are all too real. The unthinkable and the impossible are about to become quite actual, and a small group of young people are going to have to figure out what it all means, and what to do about it.  Damaged and discarded, these street kids already live complicated and difficult lives.  They are already survivors.  But now, things are about to get a whole lot more intense for them, as they encounter things beyond imagination, and develop abilities that they could only have dreamed of in their mundane existence before. There is no element of "magic" or the "supernatural" in this game, everything is based on the concept of scientific reality, but it is a strange science, delving deep into the theoretical, the improbable, and the radical.  Which is to say, this isn't a fantasy game.  The elements of the campaign that transcend our common experience in the real world fall into the realm of sci-fi. Genre Breakdown:   35% modern-day crime/mystery  /  30% science fiction  /  25% superhero/comic book  /  10% horror Influences:   Dark Angel, The X-Files, Fringe, Jessica Jones, Orphan Black, The Tomorrow People, Heroes, Stranger Things, Cybergeneration, The New Mutants Themes:   Teenagers, Adolescence, Homelessness, Street Life, Crime, Mental Illness, Incarceration, Underground Activists, Rebels, Outcasts, Being Hunted, Mysteries, Investigation, Survival, Super Powers, Psionics and Psychic Phenomena, Transhumanism, Secret Societies, Covert Organizations, Illegal Human Experimentation, Genetic Manipulation, Shadow Governments, Black Ops, Corporate Oppression, Conspiracies, Aliens, Biological Engineering, Impending Apocalypse, Fringe Science, Weird Technology The protagonists (PCs) are... The Lost   -  They are all street kids, squatters, gutterpunks.  They are either runaways from abusive or toxic households, or kicked out by their families, or orphans or foster kids who fell through the cracks, or children who lost their parents to tragedy.  Each is between 13 and 17 years old, and has spent at least one year living on the street. The Broken   -  Each has some kind of mental illness or psychological challenge, some personal struggle to grapple with that persists no matter what circumstances they find themselves in.  Each is emotionally damaged, or unstable, or especially vulnerable in some way.  None are fully "normal" or "healthy" people by the standards of society. The Defiant   -  They are true survivors, each with their own capable skill set.  They have found ways to adapt and overcome, despite their age and their situation.  They are strong, transcending their weaknesses and their challenges.  Each has learned how to make the chaotic world they have been forced to live in work for them, to some extent.
Hello, I'd be interested but what times are you thinking about playing this? Are you playing dnd 5e or with another game system? Thanks!
This game sounds awesome! Totally up my alley. Like Mask, I would like to know when you would want to play!
I run Cypher system myself, but I've been looking to play for awhile now. Any spaces left?
